I'm joined by Michelle Bader Ebersole, the voice behind Widow Too Soon, a Christian podcast built to help widows and widowers stop feeling isolated and start finding real community, practical tools, and faith-grounded hope.Michelle shares her story of losing her husband Luke after a long cancer fight, and how early widowhood while raising kids exposed a gap many churches don't see: support shows up fast after a death, then disappears when the casseroles are gone. We talk about why widows are often overlooked despite being mentioned repeatedly in Scripture, and what meaningful church support for widows can look like months down the road, including service projects, consistent check-ins, and programs that actually fit this kind of bereavement. We also tackle grief myths that quietly harm people, from “the five stages of grief” to “time heals all wounds.” Michelle explains why grief is more like unpredictable waves, why feeling your pain matters, and what to say instead of “let me know if you need anything” or “at least…” She gives simple actions anyone can take: make specific offers, acknowledge the loss out loud, and put the hard dates in your calendar like the death anniversary, wedding anniversary, and birthday. We even discuss enshrinement, identity after loss, and why remarriage doesn't erase grief, especially for kids navigating milestones. If you want a grounded conversation on grief support, Christian faith and grief, widow resources, and how to care well for someone after a loss, press play. Subscribe, share this with someone who wants to help, and leave a review so more hurting people can find it.Widow Goals is a nonprofit organisation Michelle created to support widows—especially in the first year after losing their spouse, when everything feels unfamiliar, overwhelming, and uncertainWidowed Too Soon is Michelles powerful podcast. Through raw stories and practical wisdom, widow Michelle helps others find healing and connection in the widow journey while raising teens. If Sunburnt Souls has helped or blessed you in any way, can I ask a small favour? Would you consider telling someone about the podcast, reposting an episode link, or bringing it up over dinner with a mate sometime? Word of mouth is how this podcast spreads. We don't have the budget for advertising, so every share genuinely helps more people discover the conversations we're having around faith and mental health.
Send us Fan MailWhat happens when the business you love physically can't come with you? In this episode, Andi sits down with Cindy Bader of Patterns on the Prairie to talk about building - and rebuilding - a quilting business around the realities of your life.Cindy started quilting as a first-generation quilter on a $60 Walmart Singer that she had to spin the flywheel to start. Nearly two decades ago, worsening carpal tunnel pushed her out of a desk job and into a computerized longarm business she ran from home while raising three kids. Then COVID opened the door to snowbirding - and she hit a new wall: you can't exactly pack up a twelve-foot longarm frame and take it to Texas. So she pivoted again. Inspired by a 2:00 a.m. idea, Cindy started designing what she calls mosaic applique - fusible applique patterns with small gaps between the pieces, pre-reversed templates, color-sorted layouts, and a numbered reference page so customers can build each design from the center out like a puzzle. She recently added SVG files for cutting machines and uses a hotfix adhesive that stays permanent through washing, so there's no stitching around every little piece. If you've ever felt boxed in by the physical or seasonal limits of your current quilting business, this conversation is a reminder that the constraint often points directly at your next move.Don't miss an episode! Today we meet psychoanalyst Dr. Michael Bader who shares why we may need to move beyond hormones, lube, and libido hacks and into the hidden forces of guilt, shame, fantasy, and long-term intimacy that shape desire, often without us realizing it. We cover: What are the most common, and least discussed, desire blockers in midlife The surprising role "ruthlessness" plays in sexual pleasure and why intimacy can make desire harder What sexual fantasies are really doing psychologically, and why they often intensify with age How long-term relationships and caretaking instincts quietly suppress arousal Practical ways midlife women can reconnect with desire without performance pressure Dr. Michael Bader is a psychologist and psychoanalyst with over four decades of clinical experience, known for his pioneering work on the psychology of desire, intimacy, and sexual fulfillment. He is the author of the influential book Arousal: The Secret Logic of Sexual Fantasies, where he unpacks the hidden emotional and psychological meanings behind sexual fantasy and why it plays such a powerful role in human arousal. Dr. Bader blends clinical depth with a refreshingly accessible style, helping people understand how unconscious fears, early experiences, and emotional dynamics shape their erotic lives. His work challenges shame, reduces stigma, and offers a compassionate, science-informed framework for sexual well-being. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Bader has served as a consultant, teacher, and writer on topics ranging from sexuality to social psychology, and he's widely respected for bridging the gap between psychological theory and everyday struggles around intimacy, pleasure, and connection. According to Bader Rutter CEO David Jordan, a brand's ultimate goal should be to become the reflex choice of consumers. The ultimate way to achieve that is by establishing mental equity. Think of it as an equation: Belief + Behavior = Mental Equity. During this discussion, Jordan highlights two recent campaigns — including a 2026 PRWeek Awards finalist in the Best in B2B category — to illustrate this innovative marketing approach, one that has reaped impressive and measurable benefits to the brands involved. We’re all about high-low here at You Beauty. We’ll try and talk about it all, from a life-changing hair tie that’ll set you back 70 cents, to exactly what a $595 vitamin C serum feels like. In this meaningful episode, Michelle Bader-Ebersole sits down with her daughter, Hayley, for an honest and heartfelt conversation about losing a parent at a young age. Hayley shares what grief looked like from a child's perspective — the emotions she struggled to name, the isolation she felt, and the healing that came through connection and faith. She also introduces her new ministry designed to support kids, teens, and young adults who are navigating life after parent loss. Together, they discuss why grieving youth need spaces where they feel understood, how community can prevent long-term isolation, and what parents can do to support their children in healthy ways. The episode also highlights the upcoming Widow Goals retreat and the growing vision to serve entire families — not just widows — by creating safe, supportive environments rooted in hope and connection.Takeaways• Hayley shares her personal experience of losing a parent and how it shaped her growth.• Grief looks different through the eyes of a child and teen.• Young people often feel alone in their grief unless intentional connection is created.• A new ministry is launching to support grieving kids, teens, and young adults.• Community and shared stories help normalize grief and foster healing.• Parents play a key role in helping their children process loss in healthy ways.• Future retreats are being planned to include support for grieving youth.• Widow Goals continues expanding its mission to support entire families after loss.Follow Hayleys Ministry Here on IGHere on FBClick HERE to learn about the Widow Goals Support Program Click HERE to order Michelle's book Widow Goals: Steps to Finding Peace When You Lose Your SpouseClick HERE to order the Widow Goals WorkbookClick HERE to order the Widow Goals Workbook Leader GuideClick HERE to apply to be a Widow Goals Group LeaderClick here to be sent an email on the anniversary of your spouse's passing, wedding anniversary, and more Click HERE to review Widow Goals on AmazonBook Michelle as a speakerGo here to see a list of all the areas we have Widow Goals GroupsTo join our podcast listener community, send me a message here. The Philadelphia Phillies season is just around the corner and Spring Training will be here before we know it. Baseball season is almost here! That said, there are questions and storylines we're following when it comes to this Phillies team and what they'll look like here in 2026. This week, Matt Davis from ThatBallsOuttaHere.com over at Fansided joined the pod for a conversation about the Phillies offseason and what this coming season will hold. It was a fantastic discussion! But first, the guys gave their Super Bowl predictions and thoughts on the Eagles offensive coordinator search. (Approx. 4:50)From there, they got into a discussion about the Flyers and specifically how Trevor Zegras has seemingly hit a roadblock. How should Danny Briere address this? (Approx. 18:15)Then they dove into some NBA and Sixers talk. Giannis self-diagnosed an injury, which was bizarre. Quentin Grimes has fallen off a cliff, and what that could mean for the trade deadline. (Approx. 25:50)What they threw down on the Table this week was a great and in-depth conversation with Matt Davis from That Balls Outta Here about this upcoming Phillies season. Thoughts on the offseason hits and misses. What will the level of competition be as the Mets might truly be a contender again? Should we be skeptical of this team “running it back” or should we settle down and see what happens with this talented group of players? All of this and much more this week on the Table! How many Cardinals on there? Doug's anti-Irish is showing. Great catching is the secret. Just bad memory on Jackson's part. Bader to the Giants. The guy that climbed the skyscraper on Netflix.
