To introduce this topic, we need to first address how Psychology is address from this perspective. There are "5" major views in Evangelical Christianity. On today's episode, I'm going continue my discussion on personality development. I have always found personality development to be interesting ever since I sat in college listening to a professor discuss whether or not there people have a soul. In this episode, my goal is to provide a brief overview of Adler's Individual Psychology and approach to personality development. Adler at one point was connected with Freud, but had disagreements with Freud in how he saw the human psyche. Adler felt that individuals more from a "felt" minus to a "perceived" plus. He also felt that the internal workings of the mind did not fight for dominance as Freud suggested but instead worked together for that purpose. Adlerian psychotherapy is still practiced today, and a lot of his concepts helped inform many of the theories of therapy that currently are used in the realm of mental health treatment. On today's episode, I'm continuing my discussion on a current situation that is having a profound impact on me that has all kinds of intersectionality within the rural and isolated communities in which I have interaction and reside. The topics are the difficult and complex issues of spiritual grooming and spiritual abuse, which I believe often leads to sexual abuse but not always. Spiritual grooming has become an epidemic in evangelical communities and is often subtle affecting children and adults. It is subtle because it uses our spirituality against us, and causes us to distrust ourselves and our buddies in order to trust others who claim that what they are saying comes from God. On this week's episode, I'm going continue discussing the profound impacts of spiritual grooming and spiritual abuse. I add to the definition of spiritual abuse as well as discuss how it may look practically inside and outside of religious institutions. I also discuss a social media post that was sent to me that was a perfect example of spiritual abuse. On today's episode, I'm going to start a new series on personality development. I have always found personality development to be interesting ever since I sat in college listening to a professor discuss whether or not there people have a soul. On today's episode, I was going to be starting our discussion on the Strategic Theories. However, I took some time to discuss two current media stories, and I ran out of time! That is why this episode is entitled, "Isolated but Not Alone: Strategic, BUT Mostly NOT, as I focused more on the two media stories. The first media story involved Greg Locke, a pastor from an evangelical church down south, and his sermon on "witches." The second is about our current global climate and Russia beginning military actions in the Ukraine.
