A spiritual and saving knowledge of God is the greatest need of every human creature. The foundation of all true knowledge of God must be a clear understanding of His attributes as revealed in Holy Scripture. An unknown God cannot be truly trusted, served, nor worshipped. In this book, an effort has been made to describe some of the principal perfections of His divine character. And if we are to truly profit from our perusal of the pages herein, we need to earnestly ask God to bless them to us, to apply His Truth to our conscience and heart, so that, by it, our lives will be transformed. We need something more than a theoretical knowledge of God. God is only truly known in the soul inasmuch as we yield ourselves to Him, submit to His authority, and regulate all the details of our lives by His holy precepts and commandments. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord (Hosea 6:3). If any man will do His will, he shall know (John 7:17). The people that do know their God shall be strong (Daniel 11:32). About the Author Arthur Walkington Pink (1886-1952) was an influential British Christian evangelist and biblical scholar known for his profound writings and teachings on Reformed theology. Born in Nottingham, England, Pink converted to Christianity in his early twenties, and lived a life devoted to the Lord. His passion for Scripture led him to pastorates in the United States and Australia, though he is best remembered for his prolific writing. Pink's works, including The Sovereignty of God and numerous articles in his monthly magazine, Studies in the Scriptures, have had a lasting impact in the body of Christ.

Writer/producer Mike Sussman returns to The Trek Files with a personal favorite: the creative and very meta preface to Gene Roddenberry's novelization of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. In it, Gene (writing as himself and as Admiral Kirk) casts the original Star Trek series as a fictionalized dramatization of real events. Wait… what? Join Mike and Larry Nemecek as they unpack Roddenberry's playful (and possibly defensive) retcon of Trek canon, written at a time when Gene was emerging as a sci-fi thought leader in the post-Star Wars, post-lecture-circuit era. It's Roddenberry as revisionist historian, spinning group consciousness, mind control revolts, and alternate human evolution… all in the introduction to his own movie tie-in novel. The borough of Queens is the largest of New York City's five boroughs. It holds more people than Chicago or Los Angeles. And thanks to immigration, it is today home to a population of extraordinary ethnic, religious and linguistic diversity. Queens is also the subject of a new book by Jeffrey Kroessler, Rural County, Urban Borough: A History of Queens, published by Rutgers University Press. Kroessler, an expert on the history and preservation of Queens, was working on the final edits for Rural County, Urban Borough when he died in 2023. His wife, the architect Laura Heim, took up the work of moving the book through the publication process. She selected and placed the images in the book and wrote its Preface and Acknowledgements. Rural County, Urban Borough is a history with a strong sense of place. Covering the the history of Queens from European settlement to the present, Kroessler charts centuries of change in the landscape. He shows how politics, industry, transportation, government and real estate interests all shaped the borough. Linking Queens to New York City and the wider world, Kroessler illuminates important elements of American metropolitan history. Learn more about your ad choices. CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION OF CHRISTENDOMWe are very excited to finally present this episode on St. Irenaeus of Lyon, the great 2nd century Church Father (one generation removed from the Apostles) who did so much to help me convert from protestantism to the Catholic Faith.Specifically, we dive into everything he said in his great work, "Against Heresies" (written around AD 180) about the Catholic doctrine of Apostolic Succession, which says that the one true Church is governed by the successors of the Apostles, the bishops, and preeminently the successor of St. Peter, the Pope in Rome. St. Irenaeus even describes, in proto form, the infallibility of the Church, and how the Holy Spirit will always guide the Church into all truth through the successors of the Apostles.Suffice it to say, St. Irenaeus's testimony was absolutely shocking to me as a protestant, and played a huge role in my conversion to the Catholic Faith. So much of what he said about the Church's teaching remains true in the Catholic Church to this day. Likewise, much that he said about heretics and schismatics is "disturbingly similar" to protestantism to this very day.HOLIDAY GIVING OPPORTINITY FOR MONTHLY PATRONShttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbIqyA4z6XYVISIT OUR WEBSITEhttps://eternalchristendom.com/BECOME A PATRON OF THE GREAT TRADITIONAs a non-profit, you can support our mission with a tax-deductible gift. Preface to Mary in the Gospel of Luke The sermon centers on the deliberate decision to shift focus from First Peter to an in-depth exploration of Mary, the mother of Jesus, through the lens of Luke's Gospel during the Advent season. It emphasizes Luke's unique theological and literary contributions—his meticulous research, personal narrative style, and inclusion of intimate details such as Mary's inner reflections—suggesting he likely drew directly from eyewitness accounts, possibly even from Mary herself. The preacher argues that Luke, positioned in Caesarea during Paul's imprisonment, had unparalleled access to early disciples and firsthand testimony, enabling a historically grounded and spiritually rich portrayal of Jesus' incarnation. By highlighting Luke's careful methodology and the early church's unanimous acceptance of his Gospel, the sermon affirms the reliability and authority of Luke's Gospel.
Pastor Zellner sits down and has a conversation about the Ten Commandments. What are the Ten Commandments? What do they tell us about ourselves? About God? What does the preface to the Ten Commandments mean?

In a culture content with mediocrity, the church is called to stand out through excellence in character, relationships, work, and worship. This message invites us to recover the Christian commitment to doing all things well—not to earn God's favor, but in response to the grace of Jesus, who has already given us His best.
Pastor Kevin launches a new study through the Gospel of Luke, beginning with Luke's clear purpose for writing: to give believers confidence in the truth about Jesus. We take a look at who Luke is and why his perspective matters, then move into the opening story of Zacharias and Elizabeth, where God quietly works through ordinary people to advance His plan. Join us as we explore the themes that shape Luke's Gospel, including Jesus' humanity, His compassion, and His attention to those often overlooked, and consider what it means to approach Scripture with openness and trust today.
Thousands have acknowledged him as their spiritual father, who it is believed, will be his joy and crown in the day of the Lord. Of these, many were called before him to their heavenly rest, and have doubtless welcomed him to their blissful society. A great number still remain, to pray and labor for Zion. Of his spiritual children, many are ministers of the gospel;
In this special episode, I'm sharing something deeply personal: a first listen to my upcoming book, “You Are Unforgettable: Build a Personal Brand That Gets You Paid.” After three years of writing, editing, and pouring everything I've learned about reinvention and personal branding into these pages, I'm proud to announce that the book officially releases December 16th on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Today, I'm bringing you the Preface, titled “Crossing The Rubicon.” It is a story about taking a leap, betting on yourself, and stepping fully into who you were meant to be. Then using that to your advantage by building a personal brand around it. This episode is for anyone standing at that edge, ready to cross their own Rubicon. When the book releases on December 16th, I'd be incredibly grateful for your support by grabbing a copy, sharing it with a friend, and leaving a review to help spread the message. Better yet, please send this episode out to everyone you know! ✨ “You Are Unforgettable: Build a Personal Brand That Gets You Paid”
Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text!Length: 1 hour 27 minutesSynopsis: This morning (11/14/25), in our Friday morning Machshavah Lab series for women, we continued learning through the prologue of Iyov (1:1 - 3:1). We began with a question of Iyov Methodology: Which commentaries would I recommend? This led to another important tangent (the second in three sessions!) about the ikkarim (fundamentals of Judaism). I'm particularly interested in what people think about what was said. We then read through Iyov 1:6-12 at a more leisurely pace than our quick overview last time, and we concluded by reading the Malbim's and Rambam's prefaces, explaining why I will NOT be decoding the allegory of the satan until a few months from now. The plan for next time is to go over the peshat of the remainder of the prologue, which we'll analyze in the session after that.-----מקורות:איוב א:א-יברמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות עבודה זרה וחוקות הגוים ב:א-גרמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות יסודי התורה ב:ו-זמלבי"ם - איוב א:ארש"י - איוב א:ארמב"ם - מורה הנבוכים ג:כב-----This week's Torah content is sponsored by Joey and Estee Lichter in commemoration of the yahrzeits of Joey's mother, Faiga bas Yehuda, and Estee's father, Yisroel ben R' Moshe.-----If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider contributing to my Patreon at www.patreon.com/rabbischneeweiss. He it is in whom our nature, which was debased as low as hell by apostasy from God, is exalted above the whole creation. Our nature, in the original constitution of it, in the persons of our first parents, was crowned with honour and dignity. The image of God, wherein it was made, and the dominion over the lower world wherewith it was intrusted, made it the seat of excellence, of beauty, and of glory.

Rabbit Room Press has started a new podcast called Rabbit Room Press Presents, serialized audiobooks of favorite Rabbit Room Press titles. The first season consisted of the seventeen interviews with poets that make up Ben Palpant’s book, An Axe for the Frozen Sea. Each episode is a different interview. Besides being an excellent writer in his own right, Ben is a great interviewer. This episode of The Habit Podcast is a rebroadcast of the first episode of Rabbit Press Presents—en Palpant, reading the Preface to An Axe for the Frozen Sea, followed by Chapter 1 of that book, his interview with the poet Scott Cairns.Support the show: https://therabbitroom.givingfuel.com/memberSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In judging of religious experience it is all-important to keep steadily in view the system of divine truth contained in the Holy Scriptures; otherwise, our experience, as is too often the case, will degenerate into wild enthusiasm. Many ardent professors seem too readily to take it for granted that all religious feelings must be good. They therefore take no care to discriminate between the genuine and the spurious, the pure gold and the tinsel. Their only concern is about the ardor of their feelings; not considering that if they are spurious, the more intense they are, the further will they lead them astray. In our day there is nothing more necessary than to distinguish carefully between true and false experiences in religion; to "test the spirits—whether they are from God." (1 John 4:1) And in making this discrimination, there is no other test but the infallible Word of God; let every thought, motive, impulse and emotion be brought to this touchstone.

Setting The Stage We open our 14th book by setting the stage for The Great Debate. We cover the Forward by Eli Ayala and Preface by Joshua Pillows, who give the background for the debate and speakers. Then we dive into Dr. Greg Bahnsen's opening statement, where he uses most of his time covering what the debate is and what it isn't. He also covers why he's going to talk about the Christian form of theism and how the debate can be an objective matter and not a subjective one. This week, Pastor Blake teaches on the beginning of God's confrontation with Pharaoh. Through Moses and Aaron, God demonstrates that He is in control, not Pharaoh or Egypt. As signs are performed and hearts are tested, we're reminded that God's power is greater than human pride, and His promises will stand. Want to watch a version of this message? The Inspiring Life and Legacy of William Borden, a Man of Unwavering Faith and Profound Impact William Borden was extraordinary in almost every sense. Born into wealth and privilege, he could have chosen to live a life of luxury and ease. Instead, he surrendered it all for a life of service to Christ. "Borden of Yale" is the riveting account of a man who exemplified what it means to be fully committed to God. Raised in Moody Church in Chicago and educated at both Yale and Princeton, Borden first felt the missionary call during a round-the-world journey gifted to him by his parents at the age of sixteen. The following year, he received a distinct call to dedicate his life to serving the Muslims of China, a decision that shaped everything he did from that point forward. Though a scholar in his own right, Borden's theological insights were not merely intellectual pursuits; they were living beliefs that propelled him into action. From leading Bible studies in dorms and founding the Yale Hope Mission to serving as a director at the National Bible Institute and spearheading evangelistic efforts that impacted the entire city of Cairo, Borden was unwavering in his commitment to share the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. As promising as his life appeared, Borden passed away in Egypt while en route to serve the Muslims in China. Thousands mourned, contemplating what might have been. Yet countless others have been inspired to follow in his footsteps to the mission field. William Borden was a visionary, a trailblazer, and an inspiration for all who seek to follow Jesus Christ. This is not just a book; it's an invitation to reevaluate what truly matters and to live wholeheartedly for the Lord.
In this first installment of Antifascist Christianity: Black Jesus, Matthew revisits Dietrich Bonhoeffer's journey from the theological classrooms of Berlin to the Black churches of Harlem — where he encountered a Jesus entirely unlike the imperial figure of his upbringing. Bonhoeffer arrived in New York a servant of white European Christendom, and left transformed by the radical, suffering, and liberatory presence of Black Jesus. Matthew connects Bonhoeffer's awakening to today's spectacle of white nationalism in worship — from the triumphalist religion on display at Charlie Kirk's memorial to the enduring cultural power of “white Jesus” as theology for empire. Drawing on Reggie Williams's Bonhoeffer's Black Jesus, Cedric Robinson's Black Marxism, and Jeanelle Hope and Bill Mullen's The Black Antifascist Tradition, the episode traces how colonialism created a Christ built to bless domination, and how the Black church reclaimed him through solidarity, suffering, and resistance. The contrast between the fortress hymn A Mighty Fortress Is Our God and the spiritual Were You There becomes the turning point in Bonhoeffer's faith — from triumph to trembling, from power to empathy. Part 2, out Monday on Patreon, explores how liberal Christianity tried to stand between these poles, and why it failed. Show Notes Hope, Jeanelle K., and Bill V. Mullen. A conversation with Fr. Bogdan Bucur and Dr. Razvan Porumb This publication represents the officially authorized translation of The Journal of Joy (SVS Press, 2025), carefully rendered to uphold the integrity of the original text in Romanian. The ethos Steinhardt recommends to Christians is that of an aristocrat minus the stiff upper lip and aloofness, a style molded by kindness, calm, good manners, respect for the dignity of others, and thus for one's own dignity. Christ Himself, he emphasizes, always possessed ‘knightly' traits: He is discreet, respectful; He knocks on the door and waits, never discouraged by a refusal; He is not suspicious but trusts, not greedy but gives abundantly; He forgives easily and completely; He is attentive and polite (‘Friend,' He says to Judas, whose betrayal He knows well). In Him, there is no moralism or legalism, but rather the ability to discern in every person, beyond sin, the person that God calls and enables to love. Beyond totalitarianism, which is the fascination with power and death, and beyond market society, which holds up profit as its only god … If the journal of this resistance opens up for the future, it does so precisely because it is a Journal of Joy. Olivier Clément, from the Preface to the French edition of the Journal of Joy This is the Journal of Joy, a joy founded on the Resurrection, unconquerable by the manifest powers of death. Now at last available in English, its joy can help transform the petty anxieties that beset us. Archpriest Andrew Louth, Professor Emeritus, Durham University Translation by Paul Boboc, revised by Peter Andronache, with further revisions and explanatory notes by Peter Andronache, Bogdan G. Bucur, Nicolae Drăgușin, Brenda Mikitish, and Răzvan Porumb. Foreword by Răzvan Porumb. About the Author: Nicu Steinhardt, known in his later monastic years as Father Nicolae de la Rohia, was born in 1912 near Bucharest to Jewish parents. A refined scholar who had established himself as one of the most erudite voices of his generation, he was imprisoned by the repressive communist regime in 1960. Steinhardt asked to be baptized in his cell—“illicitly”—and eventually found profound joy amid the suffering and despair of the prison. After an extraordinary experience of Christ, the intense happiness accompanying him perpetually transfigured the cruel and gloomy surroundings into a luminous world permeated by God's love and grace—which is why writing the Journal in the early 1970s was essential, even in the knowledge it would be banned by the communists. Nicolae Steinhardt, then a monk at Rohia, passed away in March 1989, nine months before the 1989 December Revolution toppled the communist dictatorship. Learn more about your ad choices. Exploring C. S. Lewis' 1944 Preface to St. Athanasius' On the Incarnation, "On the Reading of Old Books." Here, Lewis explains why it's not only good advice for people to be well-read, but specifically to be well-read in old books as well as new ones. Lewis then extends the argument to Christians especially, pleading with them to not only become familiar with, but to become immersed in orthodox Christian teaching through the reading of old books.Find more Lesser-Known Lewis — Online: pintswithjack.com/lesser-known-lewisPatreon: patreon.com/lesserknownlewisInstagram: @lesserknownlewisFacebook: Lesser-Known Lewis PodcastEmail: lesserknownlewis@gmail.comGraphic Design by Angus Crawford.Intro Music - Written by Jess Syratt, arranged & produced by Angus Crawford and Jordan Duncan.
Phillips, in the Preface to The Book of Revelation: "In this book the translator is carried into another dimension... He is carried, not into some never-never land of fancy, but into the ever-ever land of God's eternal Values and Judgements". "Although the majority of Christians quite cheerfully accept the inclusion of this mysterious book within the New Testament canon, my strong impression is that very few of them have read it in any detail." On Revelation, from the autobiography The Price of Success: "Certain themes emerge distinctly for the modern reader's profit: (a) The absolute sovereignty of God, and his ultimate purpose to destroy all forms of evil. (b) The inevitable judgments of God upon evil, upon the worship of false gods, which include riches, power and success. (c) The necessity for patient endurance, the ultimate security being the knowledge that God is in control of history (d) The existence of reality, represented here under such symbols as the New Jerusalem, set apart and secure from the battles and tribulations of earthly life, promises complete spiritual security to those who are faithful to God and his Christ.
