The environmental balance of our favourite piece of clothing, our jeans, is enormous: water-intensive cotton production, the use of toxic chemicals, sandblasting or bleaching - these are just some of the keywords when it comes to denim production. How can we turn dirty denim back to an everybody's darling again? What does "sharing economy" exactly mean? It can mean a lot, from rental to repair services, from circular processes to non-linear solutions. But what are the potentials and how is the customer’s reception? Three different guests talked to Jana Kern & Alex Vogt (Kern) at the Fashionsustain conference about the business cases behind the different models of their companies: Sara Eriksson gave us an insight into the rental service by H&M Group, Sandya Lang introduced the repair/reuse service by Nudie Jeans, and Patrick Duffy explained how a clothes swap concept was developed by Global Fashion Exchange.
