I used to think 40yr olds had it all figured out... ...that is, until I turned 40! Have you ever felt like you’re falling behind? Maybe you set these audacious goals in your early 20’s, reached a couple and missed most, gained a bit of wisdom & learned some incredible lessons in your 30’s and just thought you would have it all figured out by now. That was me, and I’ve finally realized that no one has it all figured out even if it seems that way on the outside. We are all just trying our best at this thing called life.

What would your life look like if you stopped trying to please others? Deep inside you’re not ok because you’re not happy and know there is something more out there for you. You have a few ideas and maybe have even tried one of them but those around you just aren’t on board. You see others who love what they do and wonder if you’ll ever have that. Way too often we filter our decisions via the opinions of others, specially those we love. We must stop trying to do what others think we should. People pleasing will often rob us of our joy. I’m here to remind you that: You have the responsibility to make that vision your reality and no one else needs to get it or understand why you’re doing it. It’s time you start taking some messy action towards what you desire because nothing changes unless something changes. It’s not supposed to be hard, you’re not supposed to hate or dislike what you do and that “silly” idea that just won’t go away... ... well, it might just change your life!

Flo’s passion for fashion started when she was hired as a child model to star in an advertisement for McDonald’s at the tender age of five. During our conversation Flo shared a bit about her journey and we also talked about the power of mentors and collaboration in business. If you’re in business you know the importance of collaboration. It’s a vital part of success in business. We don’t have to do it alone! We are stronger together! Fashionista Flo has worked for many organizations and has built a reputation as a go getter and move maker. On today’s episode, Lisba shares a bit about her journey and how she’s discovered just how Brave she truly is! For the longest time, Lisba Romo struggled with the spirit of FEAR. In her early childhood, Lisba suffered from being bullied at school and being verbally abused at home. Consequently, this led to Lisba’s depression and feelings of unworthiness, low self-esteem and having fear to do things. Lisba was so shy to do things that simply speaking up and expressing herself was a challenge. When Lisba became a young adult, it was then that Lisba began her journey of getting uncomfortable and confronting her fears and getting out of her comfort zone. Lisba put herself through some tough situations and the more she got uncomfortable something magical began to happen, her painful growth produced seeds of greatness and she learned who she was designed to be. The passing of Lisba’s father who struggled with cancer for three years rocked her to her core. Her father had held off on living his life fully in hopes of retiring one day and doing all the things he wanted to do but unfortunately life had a different plan for him. It was then that Lisba decided to take life by the “horns” and lead a Brave lifestyle. She wanted to help others do the same and that was when “Be Brave, Be You” was born. Attorney, financial coach, serial entrepreneur, wife, mother of 5, grandma to 3, a furbaby doormat, and a US Navy Veteran are a few words that our guest today uses to describe herself. And after learning her story I can tell you that Dawn Kennedy is one of the strongest, most courageous, and most inspiring women I’ve ever had the privilege of having a conversation with. She has overcome so much in her life and has decided to never give up, on the contrary she has turned her mess into a powerful Message that is making such an impact in the lives of many in business. Dawn, also known as the Entre Money Coach is changing the conversation around managing your business income! Dawn believes no entrepreneur should be broke, in debt to the IRS or defeated because of a money management knowledge gap. And she’s making it her mission to close this gap for entrepreneurs who are working with her. She believes that it’s time to lose the frustration, reduce the stress and simplify money management so you can use your money and time to grow and scale (and make more money)! Dawn teaches that It starts with knowing your number. You have a breakthrough, a “B” number, in your business. This number protects the inside of your company, the space within your “four walls” and lets you know when you have broken through to profit! Best of all, within this number you get a regular paycheck. YOU are a financial priority, so you can keep showing up and serving at your best. What would you do if you ever heard the word “Cancer” and your child’s name in the same sentence? My dear friend Damiana Diaz had to face answering this question 5 years ago when her 3 year old son Zain was diagnosed with Leukemia. I admire Damiana’s strength, wisdom, courage and determination to never ever give up. I want you to listen to Damiana’s story and hopefully understand that life is so fragile and we must handle it with care and that means to care for our body the way we want it to care for us. You’ll listen as Damiana shares the impact she believes nutrition had on her son and the advice she offers. Remember that food is our medicine when we choose the kind of food that nourishes and fuels our body but if we ignore this truth then medicine might become our food. We might find ourselves taking all kinds of medicine to try to keep our bodies in somewhat of a stable state. Let’s choose wisely! Do your research, learn what your body needs to thrive and take care of you because no one else can do it for you.

Have you ever pursued a job, a career, a degree just because there’s someone in your life who thought you should? Or maybe you wanted to gain their approval and you believed that doing this one thing would help you do so. Listen to today’s episode as our guest explains why she decided to go to college and pursue a career in medicine. Ruby believed this was what she wanted to do but very quickly understood that it wasn’t. I admire her for recognizing and acknowledging what she felt and what she knew in her heart to be true because not many people have the courage to go after a goal and decide to abandon it after they discover it’s not really their goal/dream. She researched and found something she loved and from there has found her purpose in life. Have the courage to walk away from other’s expectations for your life and get ready to walk into and embrace your greatness because life is too dang short to do what others expect you to do! I’m excited for you to listen to today’s episode. I had the pleasure of having a very interesting conversation with two brilliant photographers and the owners of Sylk Martí Studios in Chicago. Check out their beautiful work on social... IG: https://instagram.com/sylkmartistudios?igshid=1gmbjw0by74hg Fb: https://www.facebook.com/sylkmartistudios/ Achieving success doesn’t happen over night and for these two talented human beings it’s been years of perfecting their art of photography by not giving up and staying humble along with always being willing to never stop learning. What I kept hearing from them both throughout our conversation was that they are always learning, investing in becoming better every day which is excellent life advice for us all. We most definitely don’t need to be in a classroom to learn, we learn anywhere and with anyone. I once heard someone say that the world is a university and everyone in it is a teacher. So let’s make sure when we wake up in the morning that we go to school! This is exactly why I love having these conversations and why I started this podcast. Let’s make time to learn and grow daily! It’s your life and it’s your choice but today I encourage you to learn and grow!!

Have you ever felt your heart ache so terribly that you instantly knew that you needed to take immediate action? My guest, Marisol Constanza felt exactly that after a missions trip she took to the Dominican Republic. She saw such a need for help in the village she visited that she just knew she had to do something about it. She went back home to Chicago and talked to the person in charge of that missions trip and expressed her desire to help some more... but let me not tell you the whole story... I’ll let her share this very inspiring story like only she can. Listen and allow yourself to be inspired to go out there in the world and serve in any way you can! Marisol is here to share her story of how Army of the Kind (AOTK) went from something in her heart to a beautiful reality, a non profit organization that is now helping hundreds of children, families, villages in countries like Haiti, Peru, Dominican Republic and Africa. AOTK was founded by Marisol in 2011 with a very clear mission: to feed hungry children around the world physically, mentally, educationally and spiritually as they move towards the goal of stopping the cycle of poverty. Their vision is a world where orphans can become more than just the next statistic. Rebecca Salinas is an incredibly courageous woman, a momma of 3 and a 4th on the way, a makeup artist and a permanent makeup artist. If you’re a mom, you may have had “the” nightmare to which you woke up in tears or maybe you were even crying hysterically once you woke up. “The” nightmare is the one in which your child is gone, somehow he or she has passed and the pain you feel is unbearable. Then you wake up and realize it was all just a dream and you are overwhelmed with gratitude for it. For Rebecca it wasn’t just a dream or a nightmare, it was her reality. Her daughter Hailee passed away almost 3 years ago in a terrible car accident and life hasn’t been the same since. In this episode you’ll hear Rebecca share her story, the pain she felt, how she’s coped with her baby’s loss and the ways she’s honored her baby girl and has kept her memory alive. This episode will be released on November 25th and Hailee’s 18th birthday would have been on November 26. Her and I actually share a birthday and as a way to honor Hailee this year we made sure this episode was released right before her birthday... Happy 18th Birthday Hailee

Understanding the difference between High Standards & Unrealistic Expectations in your Relationship can make for a successful relationship or for one that causes you and your partner much pain! Standards are factual, they are the baseline of equality that drives effective actions and good decision making. Expectations on the other hand are internal and can lead to disappointment when they don’t match with what others deliver. Communication is so vital in a relationship and we must communicate our expectations with our partner if we expect to have a healthy, strong and lasting relationship. We cannot settle nor lower our standards because deep inside we know what we want and need and settling for less than that will keep us far away from the happiness we can experience. Don’t miss out on living the heck out of your life by settling for someone who doesn’t make you better when you’re with them.
Looking back to my younger years I’m sometimes amazed at how my life turned out. It’s not exactly what I had planned and I am so grateful for that. In today’s episode I’m sharing some advice that I’d like to give my younger self if I had the chance to hang out with her for a day. I would love for her to know that she’s going to be alright, actually better than alright! That she’s enough and that being her self and being true to who she is will bring her the most joy. Everything she goes through, she’ll go through for a reason. And most importantly, to enjoy the journey and to not try to rush to get to the destination. I would remind her that when she looks back, I promise she will be able to connect the dots and it will all make so much sense. Make the mistake, face all your fears head on and live life to the fullest because this is not a dress rehearsal!!! We get ONE Life!
