“The simple act of kindness is by far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in prayer” Mahatma GandhiI was inspired to teach about Maitri as a reaction to current events and the layers of what humanity face all over the world. Maitri's Bhavana is to cultivate, produce, develop the feeling is one of friendliness, benevolence, affection, kindness, good-will, it is this unconditional friendship, acceptance and love for oneself and others. When we strip off our cultural conditioning, bias, beliefs, impressions, habitual tendencies, in the Yogic perspective we all are an expression of the One, Grace, Divinity, Pure Consciousness, the light of Prana that flows within us all. When we say Namaste we are saying the Divine that flows within me, I recognise that same flow of Divine Life within you. That fundamentally we are the essence of a Divine that is in the form of your unique embodiment. And each one of us has a basic goodness, a decency, that love is at our core, our true nature. That we all have a desire to have more joy, happiness and fulfilment in our lives And not to suffer. However, just as the teachings express this is unavoidable because we love and exist we are subjected to the pain of change, illness and death. The ironic dilemma is that the more we love, the deeper we feel it the more it hurts when it changes, we loose it and have to grieve it. It's like how we enjoy the light and heat of the fire, however when we get to close it burns. We learn to keep ourselves safe by backing away from the fire, but over time we are so faraway from the flame, we can't benefit from its heat and light. Our work in Practice is to begin to make friends with ourselves, to stop looking for validation outside and turn our attention to feeling at home and relaxed within when we feel that fire burning. Our practice is to build that fire, we call this Tapas, physical fire, energetic fire and mental fire of concentration to create a positive change. As the saying goes “I survived because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me” This is the real work of Practice – to have a relationship with our pain, difficulty and hardship.Yoga Sutras points out 5 Kleshas, mental emotional afflictions we all will struggle with; Avidya – Ignorance,Asmita – Egotism, Raga – Attachment, Dvesa – Avoidance, Abinivesha – Fear of loss, change and deathYoga Sutra 1:31 states the 4 symptoms of suffering observed in practice manifests asNegative thinkingEmotional distressInstability in the bodyDisturbances in the breath that mirror the mindThe solution is Yoga Sutra 1.29 says to move inwards and then Yoga Sutra 1.32 to focus on one thing at a time. Yoga Sutra 1.33 Cultivate Non-judgemental loving awareness – Upekshanam, Friendliness – Maitri, Joy – Mudito happiness – SukkaCompassion – KarunaLoving kindness and friendliness towards what arises in our practice, a compassion and equanimity in body, energy and mind as we observe life's events and not being drawn into judgement or contempt towards ourselves as well as others. This talk is republished with permission by Metta Centre, teaching retrieved from http://Dhamma Talks – Metta Centre. In this panel, three respected monastics will discuss the question of responsibility for our own happiness and suffering to shed light on the causes of misery. The panelists will examine how our own thoughts, speech and actions can shape our experience of the world and influence our well-being. One encompassing method of purifying the mind to overcome the causes of misery is through the cultivation of the Brahma Viharas, namely loving kindness (metta), compassion (karuna), joyful appreciation (mudita), and equanimity (upekkha), known as the Four Sublime Abodes. However, these wholesome mental states are widely misinterpreted and misused to justify unwholesome actions and thoughts, often under the disguise of spirituality by way of spiritual bypassing. Such misunderstandings may potentially lead to harmful consequences. This panel will discuss how to identify the causes of these misconceptions and explore ways to truly nurture and grow the pure four immeasurable qualities of the mind for the benefit of oneself and others. As the saying goes “I survived because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me” This is the real work of Practice – to have a relationship with our pain, difficulty and hardship.Yoga Sutras points out 5 Kleshas, mental emotional afflictions we all will struggle with;Avidya – Ignorance,Asmita – Egotism,Raga – Attachment,Dvesa – Avoidance,Abinivesha – Fear of loss, change and deathYoga Sutra 1:31 states the 4 symptoms of suffering observed in practice manifests asNegative thinkingEmotional distressInstability in the bodyDisturbances in the breath that mirror the mindThe solution is Yoga Sutra 1.29 says to move inwards and then Yoga Sutra 1.32 to focus on one thing at a time.Yoga Sutra 1.33 CultivateNon-judgemental loving awareness – Upekshanam,Friendliness – Maitri,Joy – Mudito happiness – SukkaCompassion – KarunaTo read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here. In this episode of The HemOnc Pulse, Dr. Bhatnagar, an Associate Professor of Medicine at the West Virigina University Cancer Institute, reflects on how the molecular characterization of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has evolved. She joins host Chadi Nabhan, MD, MBA, FACP, to discuss how this growing base of knowledge has impacted diagnosis, treatment, and classification. “The most significant changes have come about as a result of improvements and refinements in the molecular characterization of AML,” Dr. Bhatnagar said. Some of these changes include major updates in the World Health Organization and European LeukemiaNet systems. The episode also highlights Dr. Bhatnagar's recent research, which explored the differential impact of mutations by race in patients with AML. While questions remain, she outlined future research that may help explain some disparities in AML outcomes.

Dhamma talk by Ajahn Mudito on the 20 June 2022, at the Buddhist Society of Victoria (BSV). Bhante Mudito was born in a remote village in Northern-Finland. After completing military service, he travelled to the United States where he attended chef school and worked in a high-end hotel for a few years. While living in New York his long-time interest in Buddhism evolved as he started meditating with different groups. He sought after many teachers and found many of them to be too lofty or simply too boring. But then the stars aligned when Ajahn Brahm wrote his hit book Open the Door of your Heart and on the book promotion tour he came to New York where Mudito fell in love with Ajahn and his simple teachings. He has followed Ajahn Brahm ever since and in 2010 he went to stay in Bodhinyana and ordained as a monk in 2012. Tattva Bhavana Yoga Nidra Meditation Recorded live at Blue Hot Yoga www.bluehotyoga.com after a classic hot Hatha Yoga Practice by instructor Melissa Abbott www.melissaabbott.com on Jan 4, 2022 accompanied by Crystal Singing Bowls. In the Yogic Tradition of Shaiva Tantra Meditation Techniques, Tattva Bhavana is a beautiful relaxing practice which accesses the non dual state. Bhavana means feeling, Tattva means feeling into what is…. In essence, you are tuning into your consciousness awareness by softening your senses and opening up to your entire field of awareness. Be willing to see things with equanimity. This is an early Meditation Technique that is just as fresh and new as it was 1000 years ago in northern India and Kashmir regions. Enjoy in a quiet place, Melissa
