Running a restaurant is hard. Long hours, tight margins and constant stress. In this week's programme Rumella Dasgupta travels to Edinburgh, Scotland, to meet Lisa He and her mum Sophie. Lisa has just put her life and acting career on hold, to try and help her mum save the family's restaurant, the China Star. A video she made documenting her attempt has gone viral, with more than fifteen million views. But is a viral video going to be enough to turn a failing business into a success? Lisa's got to fix the sprawling menu, digitise the paper ordering system and cut costs. Lisa and Rumella meet restaurant turnaround expert David Hopkins from the Fifteen Group in Canada, who's on hand to give advice and to explain why restaurants are such difficult businesses to run. Meanwhile the Mand family in Sydney Australia know only too well what Lisa and Sophie are going through. Last year, son Bhav documented his fight to save his dad's failing restaurant. So how's it doing now? And, in such a difficult industry, when is the right time to walk away? Srimad Bhagavatam [Bhagwat Katha] – Part 33 | Swami Mukundananda  Swamiji narrates the beautiful beginning of Shree Krishna's Vrindavan leelas after the residents of Gokul shifted to Vrindavan due to the repeated attacks of demons. In this sacred land, Krishna began displaying even sweeter pastimes, especially revealing the bliss of sakhya bhav — loving friendship with His devotees.  At four and a half years of age, Krishna started grazing calves with His dear friends like Shridama, Sudama, Madhumangal, and others. These were no ordinary children but exalted souls who had earned the opportunity to participate in God's divine play. In their innocence, they did not see Krishna as the Supreme Lord — they saw Him as their beloved friend. They shared food, joked with Him, even scolded Him, and sometimes made Him act as a “horse” in their games.  Swamiji explains the astonishing sweetness of this leela: the same God who is worshiped in temples and praised in Vedic hymns happily accepts half-eaten food from His friends and joyfully carries them on His back. Krishna was not hungry for food — He was hungry for love. In Vrindavan, both God and devotee forget formal reverence and drown in pure affection.  This leela teaches us that divine love surpasses awe and ritual. While we must follow proper reverence in our stage of devotion, we can gradually cultivate the inner sentiment that God is our closest friend. What does it ACTUALLY mean to be "data driven", and are #CROs adequately data driven? Should we be MORE data driven? Are there some opportunities for us to actually leverage intuition more? We got into: -What it ACTUALLY means to be data driven. Spoiler: the bar is pretty freaking high - Where are the legitimate (and not so legitimate) ways to utilize "intuition" in the CRO process - Your coworkers with domain expertise MAY have a point to override (some) data. As long as it's not entirely ego driven, we should hear them out! To be clear - we definitely aren't saying "throw away all data and never use it - trust intuition always forever for everything". There is some middle ground to be had, with some very legitimate reasons (some practical, some not) to introducing 'expertise' into the conversation IN ADDITION with data. In 2022, Radhika became the first mantra artist at SXSW as well as performing the opening ceremony for the Gala for the International Center of Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) in New York - a global charity saving young children from danger and human trafficking. World renowned artist Jeff Koons featured Radhika's voice alongside those of Rihanna, Sir Paul McCartney and David Bowie for his recent 4 month groundbreaking exhibition 'Apollo' in Greece, with an exploration of the ancient world meeting the new.   Radhika has regularly supported organizations like Yoga Gives Back, All Love Kirtan UK, and Art of Living Global events. She has also performed for the likes of His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and Deepak Chopra - singing and speaking passionately about the healing and transformational power of mantra to bring this ancient practice from the Vedic Sciences and its philosophies to new audiences everywhere.
