When we started the 2 Ramblers we said that the road to March Madness started here. This was a bold statement at the time. Getting back to the tournament two seasons in a row for the first time in 50 years was not guaranteed. So even though we didn't like the outcome in Pittsburgh it was a great ride. And the tournament is better with Loyola in it. On this episode, Dobber shares his trip to out to March Madness, we give a few shout-outs, and try hard to make sense of the game. Story of the game...Valley Refs send NIU to the line for 42 free throw attempts. We turn over the ball. We miss the last shot in regulation for win. Some positive things to talk about including Ryan Schweiger's perfect game and the Lucas career-high. We also look forward to a Bradley rubber game on Friday at the Arch.
Loyola downs Evansville on Senior Night (82-31.) What can you say about this game? A lot if you're the Two Ramblers. In this episode we spread the love equally between Rambler fans and our 2021-22 squad. We include a new segment, ‘Blerred Lines. And a special award to our favorite player/podcaster, Big Willy Alcock who scored a career-best nine points in only six minutes of action. Campus Safety does have some questions however about a missing chair.
The ESPN PBP guy summed up our second ISU win best; "Not an oil painting from Loyola tonight..." The road dawgs delivered a 59-50 win despite 17 turnovers. Great play from Super Seniors Tate Hall and Aher Uguak. Plus Tom Welch gets a JBs take out and delivery on the same play.
The 2 Ramblers look hard in the mirror after the home loss to Drake Bulldogs (83-76.) Drizzy led wire-to-wire despite Lucas Williamson's game that tied a career high. Gym rat and walk-on, Garret Sturtz, combined with Daddy's Boy, Tucker DeVries, for 39 pts, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals. The game also had 51 called fouls thanks to some terrible Valley Refs. Ouch! Well we talk about it anyway and go to Rambler Twitter for an instant game reaction. Also Dobber nicknames himself the "The Mayor of Ramblertown."
