Send us a textLily Mae Clements dazzles in this unforgettable episode that showcases her remarkable talent for spinning tall tales into gold. When Valene's irrepressible mother meets Jackson Mobley at a retirement home, it's a match made in con-artist heaven. These kindred spirits recognize the hustler in each other immediately, bonding over their shared gift for fabrication and spinning yarns that grow taller by the minute.Their whirlwind romance leads to an impromptu Vegas elopement funded by $200 stolen from Kenny and Ginger's emergency fund. But when their mutual deceptions are revealed – she's not wealthy and he's never managed Patsy Cline – they don't fall apart. Instead, they join forces, with Jackson convincing a Vegas lounge owner that Lily Mae is terminally ill, securing her long-dreamed-of singing opportunity at the Sidewinder Lounge.Meanwhile, young Olivia faces ridicule when classmates taunt her about her father potentially kidnapping her, making the upcoming father-daughter dance particularly painful. Valene suggests Gary step in, leading to entertaining rehearsals for their magic act. But there's something brewing beneath the surface as Abby takes a suspicious interest in the arrangements, culminating in her unexpected insertion into what should be just Gary and Olivia's special night. The episode masterfully balances comedy with subtle romantic tension, revealing Lily Mae as what the host calls "country dumb" – a woman who doesn't miss a thing despite her seemingly naive exterior. Her ability to transform disaster into opportunity showcases why she's become such a fan favorite, while Abby's lingering glances at Gary hint at potential complications that could rock the cul-de-sac in episodes to come. The mountains of Appalachia have produced some of the most memorable music in recent memory. From Dwight Yoakam to Chris Stapleton and Sturgill Simpson to Tyler Childers, plus up-and-comers like Brit Taylor and Leah Blevins, there's beautiful tunes in “them-thar hills.” Cait Justice's debut album Angel Teeth from sonaBlast Records offers a new entry in the fresh voices from Eastern Kentucky. The 20-something college student from Pikeville, Ky., now resides in Louisville. Within weeks of hitting town, she played a few open-mic and listening rooms, was recommended to sonaBlast's Gill Holland, and found herself recording a debut album in Louisville's famed La La Land Studios.  Justice sat in with Frank and Falls on the latest episode of Roots Music Rambler to talk about her sudden insertion into the Louisville and Americana music scene, her background in music, and what it's like to be at the beginning of what promises to be a meteoric rise to music relevance.  Frank and Falls also talk about the impact their respective mothers had on their interest in music and offer up their normal pickin' the grinnin' picks for the week.   The Death of Tippit - Part 1 The Death of Tippit - Part 2 The Death of Tippit - Part 3 Find previous articles by John at Jim DiEugenio's website, Kennedys and King.com. John finds the government's theory that JFK was shot by Oswald from the rear hard to believe. The Zapruder film proves that John Kennedy was shot from the front. John found a DPD radio recording from November 22, 1963 on Youtube. Listen Here Recorded 11/22/63 communication was omitted from the Dallas Police Department transcripts. Tippit's last call in was said to be at Lancaster & 8th, but Tippit actually said Lansing St. & 8th. There is in fact a Lansing St. just 2 blocks away from Lancaster & 8th in Dallas. 10 minutes prior, Officer J.L. Angell had reported he was "still at Lansing & 8th" Coincidence? Realizing that Angell's call was deliberately not reported, John was inspired to research further. Sgt. Bud Owens was supposed to be Tippit's supervisor that day but Sgt. Hugh Davis took over. Owens leaves out important facts & timeline of events in his Warren Commission testimony. Was there a covert change of guard with the Dallas Police from Owens to Davis on 11/22/63? How did the many different DPD officers get to the scene of the Tippit shooting? Why were there so many misplaced Dallas Police Department officers on 11/22/63? Warren Commission's inventory of police officers is not accurate. Many discrepancies. Officer Parker was supposed to be manning road blocks in Garland, but on a Oak Cliff viaduct? Officer Lewis was supposed to be at Love Field area but he was at another one of the viaducts. The WC states Officer Ronald Nelson was in Dealey Plaza at 12:30 but he too was at a viaduct. Post assassination story involved Tippit being at Gloco, readjusting the time of his visit. Why? Tippit was described by as arriving at Glaco shortly after the shots were fired in Dealey Plaza. John does not believe "Badgeman" was a Dallas Police officer or that you can properly ID him. Office Harry Olsen, who knew Ruby, was also documented to be located at Lansing & 8th. John doesn't believe any members of the Dallas Police Department were firing at JFK. Members of the Dallas police would have helped the shooters safely escape Dealey Plaza. John is curious if Tippit turned after JFK shot, forcing the conspirators to eliminate him? Why were so many of the DPD were in the area, before the assassination had happened? Officer Gerry Hill leaves City Hall about the time Oswald is declared a person of interest. Photos show Officer Gerry Hill arriving at the TSBD in car #207 about 12:50 PM. Earline Roberts, Oswald's landlord, testified DPD car #207 pulled up outside her home. Officer Gerry Hill does not have an alibi for after 1 PM. How could Oswald get from his rooming house to the Tippit murder scene so quickly? Did DPD car #207 drive Oswald to the Tippit murder scene? Did the Rambler in Dealey Plaza? Westbrook arrived after Tippit was shot, yet somehow Westbrook arrives at the scene twice? Capt. W. R. Westbrook's claims can be refuted by other officer's testimonies or by reporters. Car #207 was given great interest due to boarding house landlord Earline Robert's testimony. Len applauds John on his fantastic detective work. Things are constantly making more sense. How many coincidences can you have? Timelines not lining up? False testimonies? So many lies!

Chris Temple, Editor and Publisher of the National Investor, joins us to delve into the renewed interest in base metals, gold, uranium, and other critical minerals and the implications and potential benefits to the US as a mining jurisdiction on the back of the new executive order from Trump issued on March 20th titled “Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production.”   This executive order will utilize the Defense Production Act (DPA) to focus on sourcing more domestically mined, processed, or refined critical minerals and strategic mineral as a matter of national security.  There appears to be a joint effort between the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and the Department of Defense to provide investment support, loans, and possibly grant for mining projects.  There is also an expedited priority on reviewing the permitting on projects seeking development from usual base metals like nickel aluminum and copper, but also includes rare earths, gold, and uranium.   Chris outlines what impact these initiatives may have on permitting timelines and regulations around developing new mines, as well as how this could affect opening up more funds, loans, and grants to bring in the necessary capital for moving these projects forward.  However, while there are many positives, Chris points to how many hurtles are still in place at various levels of government and from legal actions from NGOs; in addition to how much more real work is needed to earnestly impact the extractive industries in the United States.  We also layer on how this executive order squares with other policy initiatives like tariffs on many metals and countries, and a reduction in government workers and cost cutting measures.   This leads into a nuanced discussion of the spotlight and investor interest back on many of the large advanced projects that have been stalled for decades like Northern Dynasty's Pebble, Trilogy's Rambler road access to the Upper Kobuk mineral project, Rio Tinto's Resolution Mine in Arizona, and the Teck-Glencore JV at NorthMet in Minnesota.  Chris reminds listeners that with all those projects, if they do ever get approved, they would still be many years from producing more of these critical minerals.    He also highlights examples of how the government and manufacturers have a poor track record of acting in on these kinds of initiatives in a timely manner. Chris points to the disconnect in the long permitting process where the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) finally approved Lithium Americas Thacker Pass Lithium Project, and then automotive giant General Motors announced it would invest $650M in the mine project, giving GM exclusive access to the first phase of production.  When everything did finally start lining up for project development, the lithium prices which had been high for years reversed course and cratered in price, with an oversupply of lithium flooding the market and expectations being lowered for EV adoption rates and future demand.   We wrap up with Chris sharing why his top 3 commodities areas for this year are still gold, uranium, and traditional energy with oil and gas companies.   He is encouraged by the record all-time high prices in gold during the first quarter of 2025, but feels the biggest opportunity for resource investors at present is in the deeply discounted uranium equities, which he stated “are a gift at these levels.”   Click here to follow along with Chris at the National Investor website.

Erik Wetterling, Founder and Editor of The Hedgeless Horseman website, joins me to dig into the implications and potential benefits to the US as a mining jurisdiction on the back of the new executive order from Trump issued on March 20th; titled “Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production.”    This executive order https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/03/immediate-measures-to-increase-american-mineral-production/ will utilize the Defense Production Act (DPA) to focus on sourcing more domestically mined, processed, or refined critical minerals and strategic mineral as a matter of national security.  There appears to be a joint effort between the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and the Department of Defense to provide investment support, loans, and possibly grant for mining projects.  There is also an expedited priority on reviewing the permitting on projects seeking development from usual suspect metals like nickel and rare earths but also including gold, uranium, and aluminum.   Erik reviews a number of companies that have his attention in the US that may benefit including juniors like Integra Resources(TSXV: ITR) (NYSE American: ITRG), Stillwater Critical Minerals(TSX.V:PGE)(OTCQB:PGEZF), BCM Resources Corp (TSXV: B), and K2 Gold (TSX-V: KTO) (OTCQB: KTGDF).  We also note the potential impact on long-stalled mega projects like Northern Dynasty's Pebble, Trilogy's Rambler road access to the Upper Kobuk mineral project, or Rio Tinto's Resolution Mine in Arizona.   We also discuss whether US projects will now get a premium, due to removing permitting bottlenecks or possibly providing government money to assist in the development of mineral projects.    *In full disclosure, many of the companies mentioned by Erik in this interview, are positions held in his personal portfolio, and they also may be site sponsors of The Hedgeless Horseman website at the time of this recording.   Click here to visit Erik's site – The Hedgeless Horseman

The first time you hear Leah Blevins sing, you immediately notice a voice similar to Dolly Parton. As if that weren't enough to want to hear more, she belts out influences from Martina McBride, Loretta Lynn and even Stevie Nicks. And she's poised for a new album later in 2025 that could be the project that vaults her even higher in the country music scene. Blevins joined Frank and Falls on Roots Music Rambler to talk about what's coming in 2025. She heads to the studio in February to add to an already released single (Hundred Different Sides). The new project is the first of a two record deal, so the future is bright. Blevins was raised in Sandy Hook, Ky., a tiny little burg in the hills of Northeast Kentucky. It happens to be the home of another great country singer: Keith Whitley.  We explored her musical journey, talked about her debut album (First Time Feeling) which came out in 2021, her influences, family and more.  Plus, Falls reports back on Brent Cobb's first Ryman Auditorium headline show and both he and Frank talk about 2025 live show plans they've already got in the works. And as always, they share their Pickin' the Grinnin picks for new music for you to explore this week. Well, 2024 is in the books and what a year we saw in Americana and Roots Music. From Sierra Ferrell's explosion to Beyonce's Cowboy Carter and crazy collaborations to new music from artists like Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, The Secret Sisters, Marcus King and Dwight Yoakam, the year was one for the books. Since this was the first full calendar year Roots Music Rambler existed (we debuted in September of 2023), we thought we would start an annual tradition of recapping the year with our top songs, albums and artists, plus do a little where-are-they-now rundown of previous show guests to keep everyone thinking about and talking about the music we all love. In this episode Frank and Falls run down their top 10 songs and albums of 2024, proclaim their top artist, group and newcomer of the year, and call out a couple of artists worthy of praise for innovating in the genre in 2024. But, to be clear, our philosophy on Roots Music Rambler is tied to a belief that music is not a competition. Rankings and bests are simply fodder for conversation and discovery. These lists are just our individual opinions. We want to hear yours as well. So comment on our social media posts about the rankings and share your favorites for 2024 or what you're excited about for 2025.  Be sure to help spread the love of the show with Roots Music Rambler's new merch, now available at rootsmusicrambler.com/store. It's not often Rolling Stone compares a singer-songwriter to John Prine. But they did just that when they heard “Steelhead Trout” by Margo Cilker. The Oregon-based artist's first two albums have turned her into an emerging star in the Americana music scene.  Pohorylle, her debut, was so good, the UK Americana Music Association nominated it for Album of the Year alongside Brandi Carlile, Robert Plant & Allison Kraus and Charley Crockett. She went on tour with Drive-By Truckers and Hayes Carll. Her sophomore album, Valley of Heart's Delight, is better. Not just by our estimation, but every music publication that's reviewed it says so. The songs are deeper, more introspective, and perhaps more universal.  Cilker joined us for a chat from her Snake River Valley ranch recently to talk about songwriting, her success, and what the future holds for her music. She and Francesca connected at a performance over the summer and had a conversation about the song and fish that brought about the Prine comparisons. Needless to say, we had a fun conversation. Few musicians today stay as busy as Aaron Bibelhauser. Not only is he a prolific songwriter and one half of the twin brother-led bluegrass band called The Bibelhauser Brothers, but he hosts a notable bluegrass music radio show, collaborates with several other artists on albums and singles and leads a community jam session periodically in his home city of Louisville. The only mystery about Aaron is when does he sleep? Aaron and his twin Adam, who splits vocals with his brother, plays bass, contributes to the writing and production of songs, and naturally offers beautiful blood harmony to the group, joined Roots Music Rambler this week to talk about the group's new singles, a potential new album, collaborations and more. We discussed their journey to be musicians, and their history with a previous band called Relic as well. While Adam has a day job and is a full-time dad, Aaron is busy writing, performing and producing. He's penned songs for Del McCoury, Michael Cleveland, and the Louisville Shakespeare Festival, and produced a tribute album for Mickey Clark. He's also the host of Bluegrass Evolution, a Sunday night bluegrass radio program on WFPK (91.9 FM) in Louisville.  Also on the show, Frank and Falls discuss Grammy snubs and take a listen to Stephen Wilson Jr.'s astonishing new cover of Ben E. When Blake Lacy, Noah Freeman and Brett McCoy met and discovered each other's musical tastes, they did what college students do: They started a band. A few iterations of an expanded friend circles later and the trio evolved to a six-person offering called Kindred Valley.  The band came on the Roots Music Rambler radar opening for Brit Taylor (Episode 16) at The Burl in Lexington, Ky., in February of 2024. A few months later, they were headlining shows at The Burl and dotted music venues up and down the mid-atlantic and midwest.  Blake Lacy (songwriting, vocals) and Noah Freeman (songwriting, vocals, multiple instruments) sat in with Falls recently to talk about the band's roots, how they came together, the explosive growth of the group's success in 2024 and a lot more. The band even survived the attrition of one member who decided life on the road wasn't in the cards. Kindred Valley's music is often categorized as folk rock. We've likened them to a folksier version of Fleetwood Mac, largely because of the diverse roster of musical talent throughout the group and the harmonies and sometimes lead vocals of Rachael Hayes, the lone female member of the band.  The group has a new EP out called What Was Left to go along with their self-titled debut album released last year.  Frank and Falls also rank the top live performances they've seen in 2024 and issue a call to action for you to contribute your favorite performances, albums and songs for the year as we wind down toward the end of the year. And, as usual, they share their Pickin' the Grinnin' picks of the week.   Ted was 8 years old when JFK was assassinated on November 22, 1963. A pall came over the nation when JFK was assassinated, everyone around him was effected. JFK's murder deeply effected Ted, starting his fascination with the investigation. Oswald being shot by Ruby just two days after JFK’s murder seemed too fantastical to be true! Ted has a background in TV reporter & teaches journalism. Ted loves investigative journalism. With Ted's pending retirement, he's looking forward to focusing on his great JFK Youtube channel! Listening to weekly episodes of Black Op Radio helps keep Ted close to the subject. Ted has current FOIA requests in progress with hopes of learning more on the Chicago plot. Ted interviewed Ruth Paine a decade ago! Ted tells why she cut him off from further communication! It was amazing to Ted how Ruth Paine tried to manipulate him. Solving the assassination of JFK's murder is coming down to the hard work of independent researchers. Ted appreciates the determined truth seekers in the JFK research community! Ted's nickname was TV Ted in the television & reporting world. Sgt. Robert Vincent's plane was diverted to Dallas, where they picked up an LHO lookalike! The CIA kept complete oversight over Sgt. Vincent & his wife after the assassination. Ted has concluded the JFK assassination was a CIA operation. Many people associated to the assassination on some level lost their lives or were harassed by the CIA. Len created 50 Reasons For 50 Years short videos to cater to people's short attention spans! Researchers are very interested in the murder of Officer Tippet by an Oswald imposter. Ted really appreciates the Oswald research published by John Armstrong in Harvey & Lee. Len & Ted discuss the multiple Oswalds that started to appear in different states. Was the CIA Edward Lansdale brought in to orchestrate & direct JFK’s assassination? Len believes the reporting of Oswald in Mexico City was a CIA created distraction. Thomas Arthur Vallee in Chicago also looked like Oswald & had a similar military career! Roger Craig saw an Oswald lookalike in Dealey Plaza getting into a Rambler station wagon. There were TWO Oswalds arrested on November 22, 1963 at the The Texas Theatre! The plane with Sgt. Robert Vincent landed at the Roswell AFB after leaving Dallas. David Ferrie was being followed by the CIA to make sure he didn’t speak out about the assassination. Oswald was seen creating a ruckus in multiple locations bringing attention to himself on purpose. The Warren Commission censored what was published in the report, rejecting multiple testimonies. Gerald Ford & the other members of the Warren Commission are guilty of helping with the cover-up. The Warren Commission has told hundreds of lies but ignorant people & shills still promote the report. With the WC claiming Oswald was in Mexico City, then how could Lee be at the Sportsdrome? How could Lee Harvey Oswald defect to Russia, return to the US with assistance & not be charged? Sylvia Odio reported that a Lee Harvey Oswald visited her home with anti Castro Cubans. Oswald arrested at The Texas Theatre seen at El Tico restaurant in a car registered to CIA business. Allen Dulles & The Big Money behind the opposition of Kennedy. NSAM 263 was JFK's initial initiative to start pulling out all troops from Vietnam. Len explains the Golden Triangle. David Ferrie was killed shortly after it was made public he was involved in Garrison’s investigation. Autopsy whistleblower suicided along with reporter Dorothy Kilgallen & Dr. Mary Sherman!

Torrey was an American ornithologist who wrote many stories about his experiences walking through woods while bird watching.  The preface he wrote to tonight's book is paraphrased as follows: “The writer of this little book has found so much pleasure in other men's woods and fields that he has come to look upon himself as in some sort the owner of them. Their lawful possessors will not begrudge him this feeling, he believes, nor take it amiss if he assumes, even in this public way, to hold a rambler's lease of their property.
