We check out Night Moves (1975), directed by Arthur Penn, and Knight Moves (1992), directed by Carl Schenkel. Today's Topics: 1) In this episode, we discuss Science and the Catholic Church. It is a common myth that the Catholic Church is anti-science, but in reality, both the Church and science are in pursuit of the truth. The Catholic Church has supported the sciences from the earliest days and as a result has been instrumental in advances the sciences has made, 2) We are joined by Federico Perdomo, who is a member of the St. Michael's Shield Prayer Group, even though he lives in Nevada. He learned of this group from an early episode of Knight Moves, when a few members of the Group were guests on Knight Moves, 3) Federico provides a summary of his journey as a Catholic man, how it has inspired his family and his life. He provides a quick description of a pilgrimage he will be taking with some of his family, to the Holy Land, 4) The impact Catholicism has had on science and how Catholic Religious (Priests, Monks, and Sisters) have advanced the sciences through their active participation is discussed. It is through man's search for the truth that we begin to see God in everything. Theme: "Salve Regina" performed by Floriani. All rights reserved. Used with permission. I stumbled across Logan "Biggoron" Tucker's music in early April ahead of VGM Con (which would be worth your time if you can attend next year!). He regularly participates in the monthly video game music cover contest held at Dwelling of Duels. Cover artists submit their piece anonymously and winners are chosen by the community. For TWENTY years, Dwelling of Duels has held this competition, and all submissions are archived on their site. It was great talking with Logan about his style and how he got into making game music covers. You can find many of his covers on Bandcamp (name your price!) and also on the Dwelling of Duels site. You can support Level with Emily on Patreon. Join us on Discord for free. Find this conversation on YouTube and Twitter. Today's Topics: 1) Fatherhood is discussed in three different variations: God, our Eternal and Heavenly Father, The Priest, our spiritual father, and finally the biological father. The priest and biological father are essentially our efforts to emulate Our Heavenly Father, by doing what He has done for us, 2) Knight Moves' guest is Brother Knight Deacon Steve Greco who is Director of Evangelization and Faith Formation for the Diocese of Orange, California. He serves at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Irvine and is the founder of Spirit Filled Hearts Ministry, which engages in evangelization and the promotion of spirituality, and supports Catholic missionary efforts in the Philippines and Indonesia. The JESUS THIRSTS FOR AMERICA movement comes alongside the U.S. bishops' initiative for Eucharistic revival and provides a way for the local church to embrace a custom-made old fashioned revival that will provide a means for people to encounter Jesus Christ, https://www.spiritfilledevents.com/about-i-thirst 4) I Thirst Los Angeles will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 and will include Spanish and English presenters from throughout the United States, including Bishop David O'Connell, https://www.spiritfilledevents.com/i-thirst-los-angeles The following weekend, March 10-12, 2023, the I Thirst for Young Adults will be held at the Santiago Retreat Center and will include praise and worship bands along with all night Eucharistic Adoration. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me: Was hat DIE FRAU IM NEBEL zu verbergen? Adios.
Apprenticeships are popular, but they don't always work for jobs that require many skills. That is why Linc Kroeger, the President of Knight Moves, is looking for ways to solve this problem and create economic success for underserved communities. Linc and Raul are discussing the difficulty of finding skilled tech talent in the US. Linc has seen many people try to include diverse talent in the workforce but without success. This motivated him to find a solution to the problem. He realized that companies were not willing to spend money on apprenticeships and that senior talent was needed to oversee them. He also noted that the competition for offshore talent was strong, with a shortage of tech talent in the US. To address this, he suggested that more should be done to bring people into tech. Who's The Guest? Linc Kroeger served on the Technology Association of Iowa board for three years. He was assigned by Governor Kim Reynolds to her Empower Rural Iowa Task Force and has been identified as “the most innovative leader in bringing tech jobs to rural areas in the nation” by U.S. Congressmember Ro Khanna representing Silicon Valley. He has also been recognized as “Top National Rural Influencer'' by The Ruralist and was the USDA Rural Prosperity Tour keynote speaker. Episode Highlights What got Linc Kroeger started Benefits of code camps Connecting the dots in the technology industry Uplifting talent through internal development programs Success rates in private enterprises versus the public sector education Exploring the benefits of social benefiting models in the technology industry Leveraging dynamics to train people for new jobs in the economy Teaching people to learn and develop emotional intelligence in technology Episode Resources Connect with Raul Hernandez Ochoa https://www.linkedin.com/in/dogoodwork/ https://twitter.com/rherochoa https://dogoodwork.io/ Connect with Linc Kroeger https://www.knightmoves.org/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/linc-kroeger-19674b https://twitter.com/linckroeger Review, Subscribe and Share If you like what you hear please leave a review by clicking here
On today's episode of 'Your Business Greatness,' host Simone Sloan, Executive Strategist, Founder, and Executive Coach at "Your Choice Coach," speaks with Linc Kroeger. He is the President of Knight Moves and is passionate about fighting social inequity. He served on a technical association for Iowa boards for three years. Podcast Key Points: Linc talks about Knight Moves, the objectives, and who the company is really trying to help and how the transition took place to where he is today. Linc's biggest challenge across the whole country is the community college instructor shortage. Even if they offer Knight's curriculum, they cannot provide the instructors. They are trying to come up with creative ways to do this and one of them is pure online or even outsourcing offshore. Episode Highlights After graduating from high school back in 1986, Linc joined the Air Force, went into Fortran training and technology, and was able to go right from high school into a job. For the last decade Linc has been in the consulting technology space, and in his last company he was the CEO of a technology services company. In Linc's 35 years working in corporate America, he did not see many moves happening in the DEI space. Knight Moves is an organization looking at elite technology and bringing professionals in their training. Some of the interesting data around indigenous groups is that they have one of the lowest attendance rates to four-year colleges, but they can have the most unused scholarships. No one gets excluded from our program because they cannot afford it, says Linc. As soon as you start building trust, you start getting referred to the network. When you go in and you recruit a group of students and then 2 or 3 of them drop out in the first three weeks because it doesn't work for them, that's probably the biggest, toughest challenge we had, says Linc. The Knight Move started as a nonprofit and then we flipped as a social benefiting or B Corp model because as a B Corp we do not have to make a profit, says Linc. There are some really creative things you can do out there if you are doing something valuable for a social benefit and impact that goes along with it. Words of wisdom: In anything that you choose to do in life, find your flow and flow Connect Simone Sloan: Website | LinkedIn | Twitter | Facebook | YouTube Linc Kroeger https://www.kKnightmoves.org/ or https://www.linkedin.com/in/linc-kroeger-19674b/
Today's Topics: 1) Knight Moves begins 2023 anew on the road. Hosts Greg Keller and Mark Edward Padilla traveled to Visalia which is in California's Central Valley and is the gateway city to the Sequoia and King Canyons National Forests. Visalia was the host to the Knights of Columbus California State Council's Midterm District Deputy Meeting from January 6-8, 2023. District Deputies are Brother Knights who minister to an average of four Councils (four Churches or group of Churches), 2) Jose "Pona" A. Magana is from Council 13403, Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Pona is the Supreme Representative for Hispanic and Ethnic Growth in California. He challenges men to take the lead in our Catholic faith in their own homes and communities. The Knights of Columbus can assist a man in this effort as it has done in his own life, 3) District Deputy Juan Torres is from Council 16732, San Juan Diego de San Bernardino. Juan is the California State Council's Hispanic Membership Director. Born a Catholic he left the Church as a younger man and explored non-Catholic Christianity. Upon coming home to our Faith and reinvigorated with the Holy Spirit, Juan joined the Knights to put his faith into action, District Deputy Raul Martinez is from Council 4000, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Calexico. Raul assists Pona and Juan with the Hispanic and Ethnic Growth in California. Raul recounted a speech a Priest had presented at a Knights of Columbus San Diego Chapter Meeting. The Priest stated that when a man leads his family in going to Sunday Mass the children are more likely to remain Catholic. 4) Pona stated that men should not be "macho" in their role as the leader of the family. Today's Topics: 1) Prior to Mary's appearances to the three small children, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta as Our Lady of Fatima in 1917, the Guardian Angel of Portugal appeared to them. The Angel gave the children this prayer, "My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love Thee! I beg pardon of Thee for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee!" As California approaches its elections on Tuesday, 08 November 2022, many prayers are needed, 2) Knight Moves is honored to have as its very first female guest, Catherine Hadro. She is spokesperson and director of media relations for California's No on Proposition 1 campaign. She is the founding host of EWTN Pro-Life Weekly, a global television show dedicated to the pro-life cause from a Catholic perspective and she now serves the network as an EWTN News Contributor. Catherine sits on the board of The Obria Group, a network of holistic women's healthcare clinics started in California. She is happily married to her husband Matthew -- who is a Second Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and her recently deceased father was a 4th Degree Knight, 3) Catherine speaks about how California's Proposition 1 is extreme, expensive, and unnecessary, it would mean late-term abortion in California. The No on Prop. 1 coalition is broad and diverse, it is a chance for us Catholics to work with other religious groups. There are practical ways that Knights can get personally involved: Volunteer for phone calls at NoProposition1.com; Write a Letter to the Editor; Put up yard signs; Engage with our social media; Have conversations with your neighbors and friends, https://www.noproposition1.com/ 4) The Knights of Columbus is a pro-life organization that defends life from conception. Many Brother Knights volunteer for the 40 Days for Life campaigns, participate in the Ultrasound Initiative Program, and assist in Pregnancy Resource Centers. Alright Rambler fans put away your heart medication. We got a breather in our road win over the Evansville Aces (77-48.) Lucas and Chris Knight dominated again!!! On this episode we wonder whether the Matt Hawes' Hammer player of the game, for heart and hustle, should be renamed for Chris Knight. "Knight Moves" maybe? Sammy D awards someone the JB Alberto's Giant Play. We also speculate on the chances of Lucas winning the Larry Bird trophy this year.

Usagi and the gang are back and so are we! Wish we could say the same about a certain Tuxedo Kamen (do we really, though?) but a white knight seems ready to claim that title for himself. Even the title for the most attractive students in school is up for grabs when two new (and hot) transfer students show up. They couldn't possibly be energy stealing aliens in disguise, could they? And while we're on the appreciation train, we couldn't help but give a little more love to a special father figure. Join us for episodes 47-50!WebsiteInstagramTwitterYoutubeTik Tok: @MoonMomentPod

Having graced the decks on almost every continent, the Belfast born Greg Downey is no amateur when it comes to the art of DJing. Having impressed the promoter of Gategrasher while playing at an afterparty in Ibiza, Greg was asked to play at Space the following week. Very shortly afterwards, Greg broke through the UK trance scene playing at major shows such as Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Slinky, Inside Out, Goodgreef, and Passion. What was every aspiring DJ's dream to travel the world soon became a reality for Greg. He was crisscrossing the globe flying from New York City to Sydney to Ibiza to Shanghai to Buenos Aires to London playing to massive crowds. Greg recorded his first “Live As album” on Discover from the mega Planet Love festival in Northern Ireland, which captured Greg's energy as a DJ and was featured as "Album of the Month" in Mixmag. Soon the prestigious BBC Radio One came calling and Greg appeared as a guest on Eddie Halliwell's radio show. It came as no surprise when Greg was voted into DJ Mag Top 100 poll coming in at number 82. This was a huge accomplishment for such a young talent. As Greg's DJing career was taking off, so were his productions. Catching the attention of John Digweed with his remix of “Heaven Scent”, Greg solidified himself as a producer when his remix claimed the number one spot on Beatport for over a month. His remix was championed by Sasha, Eric Prydz, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and John Digweed. Greg was then snapped up by Paul van Dyk for his label Vandit. His first release “Stadium” was a huge success which became Mixmag's Cream Ibiza anthem of 2008. Greg was also chosen by Paul van Dyk to remix his track “New York City” which appeared on his “Hands on In Between” album. Working tirelessly in the studio, Greg started to produce hit after hit. His track “Global Code” on Vandit was featured in every Paul Van Dyk's set for close to a year and his following single Show Time for Dutch heavy weights Spinnin was number 2 on Beatport. Having teamed up with the lead singer Paul Draper from Mansun in 2010 to remake their classic track “Wide Open Space”; it became the track of the year having crossed over to daytime Radio One with support from Scott Mills and Vernon Kay and was chosen by Mixmag as their tune of the month. This track was later snapped up by major label EMI for a full release. 2011 saw Greg up the game once again when his remix of Everything But The Girl – Missing was signed to Warner Music. Greg's mix was released alongside Fedde Legrand's and reached number 1 on Beatport and was number 1 on Australia's leading radio station Radio Metro. Greg had three more top ten hits with Spinnin records, Knight Moves , Game Face and Sunrise. Greg and Simon Patterson teamed up with English vocalist Bo Bruce to create the anthem “ Come To Me” , This was an instant Ibiza anthem at Amnesia and Space and across the globe. Wanting to explore the darker side of his sounds, Greg developed his R.I.C.O alias to bring out the deeper underground techno sound. As Greg explains, “I think it's good to try new things and to develop yourself in the studio, I love growing as an artist and developing” after receiving great feedback from fans and fellow DJs of the tracks released under the R.I.C.O alias. Game Face and Afraid Of The Dark have been firm favourites of Markus Schultz featuring on his Global DJ Broadcast show several times. Greg's diversity also saw him snapped up by Gareth Emery's Garuda for his debut release with Crazy For You in 2012. Supported regularly by the likes of Armin van Buuren, Gareth Emery, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Sander van Doorn, Above and Beyond, Greg's many achievements, alongside his outstanding technical ability will ensure he continues to reach great heights. We discuss three movies of a certain quality from the King of Nearly Blind Swiss Action Stars, Christopher Lambert! There can't be even one (good movie in the bunch)! KNIGHT MOVES (1992, Carl Schenkel) 11:30 THE ROAD KILLERS (1994, Deran Sarafian) 59:22 RESSURECTION (1999, Russell Mulcahy) 1:46:15
Bert and Jo came over to talk about chess. I had an assignment just for Bert: to assess the logged tournament chess matches of Marcel Duchamp. In addition I forced the group to watch a tepid early-1990s thriller called Knight Moves, and then a better chess-centric movie called Uncovered.
