La première est enseignante dans le secondaire et chercheuse en histoire de l'éducation, spécialiste de la fabrique scolaire de l'histoire (Dans la classe de l'homme blanc (PUL), La fabrique scolaire de l'histoire (Agone), Sur l'enseignement de l'histoire (Libertalia) tout en écrivant des livres d'histoire pour les enfants (collection Les explorateurs de l'histoire). La seconde est professeure des écoles et pratique la pédagogie Freinet.
