Send us a textIn this powerful episode, Dr. Juan Pablo Galindo sits down with Dr. Nicholas Powers, author of Black Psychedelic Revolution: From Trauma to Liberation, to discuss the often-overlooked relationship between psychedelics and the Black community. Dr. Powers unpacks the historical erasure of Black and Indigenous psychedelic traditions, the intersection of systemic oppression and the War on Drugs, and the radical potential of psychedelics as tools for personal and collective healing.Together, they explore how psychedelic therapy can address intergenerational trauma, reconnect communities with their ancestral traditions, and challenge the structures that have historically marginalized Black and Brown people from these healing modalities. From historical injustices to visions of liberation, this conversation offers deep insight into how psychedelics could play a role in reshaping society and fostering true interconnectedness.Come visit our website for more information: Innerbloom

I had such an amazing time interviewing someone near and dear to my heart. My old psychotherapist Dr. Emmett Miller. It was a wonderful moment to be able to reconnect with him and talk about his story and his personal take on psychedelics. Dr. Miller helped create the field of Mind-Body Medicine starting in the 70's. His unique approach of holistically looking at someone's overall health has influenced the integrative medicine field of today. Absolute legend. Clinical research psychiatrist, founding figure of the American psychedelic research renaissance, and best-selling author of DMT: The Spirit Molecule [2001]. Dr. Rick Strassman shares his experience in writing his newest book: The Psychedelic Handbook: A Practical Guide to Psilocybin, LSD, Ketamine, MDMA, and DMT/Ayahuasca. I had such a great time talking with Dr. Strassman, truly grateful for his time and wisdom. “Psychedelic drugs are remarkable mind-altering substances, arguably the most interesting drugs in all of medicine. They reliably produce a unique state of mind in which you see visions and hear voices. You may lose awareness of your body while your consciousness travels through deep outer—or inner—space. You may feel almost unbearable ecstasy, terror, or both—or nothing at all" -Dr. Strassman Get a copy of his new book today! Link here: https://www.rickstrassman.com/
With the rising buzz and fervor surrounding psychedelic therapy there is a lot of media and information touting psychedelics as the 'cure all, be all' new treatment. Yes, psychedelics show amazing promise and potential, but it is also important to discuss when this type of treatment may not be the best fit. It's important to know for whom this treatment is right, but it may be even more important to know for whom it is NOT right.
MDMA has gotten a lot of traction in the last decade. From receiving the designation as a 'breakthrough therapy' drug for PTSD by the FDA in 2017, to being in the last phases of medicinal approval, its spotlight grows. But where did this molecule come from? How did it come about? Come with us as we share the compelling and fascinating history of this molecule. ACID TEST Book

Our first journey report! Psilocybin with Dr. Tala Kassm. Dr. Tala Kassm is a board certified ophthalmologist and life coach specializing in helping professionals find balance and freedom in their day to day lives. Ophthalmology is one of the hardest specialties to match into when leaving medical school. It is no easy feat, and requires much dedication and hard-work. As doctors there is a sense that we need to be 'super humans', that we should work tirelessly, that we should sacrifice our time and energy for others at our own expense. This pressure comes internally as much as it does externally, but at what price? Dr. Kassm has blessed us with her first psychedelic experience where psilocybin helped her see things a bit differently, allowing her to question personal and societal pressures. But most importantly teaching us to stop and look at the tulips once in awhile. Dr. Tala's website: https://www.doctortala.com/
Part 4 of our conversation continued...For those of you who don't know, New York Magazine's Cover Story published a podcast series called 'Power Trip' looking into the dark side of psychedelic therapy. The podcast highlights various traumatic experiences that have occurred under the umbrella of psychedelic therapy. One woman tells of the abuse she experienced by her therapist during the MAPS MDMA trials for PTSD. The Cover Story podcast additionally went on to paint a pretty dark picture of psychedelic therapies and the research being done in this work. Our podcast here with 'The Psychedelic Psychiatrist' takes a look at what was discussed and tries to offer a more balanced perspective compared to what was portrayed by the Cover Story creators. Before going any further we wanted to make the following very clear: we have the utmost respect to the people in this series who shared extremely traumatic and vulnerable moments, and in no way invalidate their experience nor offer any excuses for what happened to them. Their stories should be known and we thank them for bringing light to the matter. There are legitimate concerns and dangers when working with these medicines, we will address these while offering a more widened view on the topic. Due to the importance of this topic we thought it would be of service to enlist some help from a colleague in the psychedelic medicine field. Someone who we knew has a watchful eye on what is happening in this field, and could offer some great perspectives. Kyle Keller is the founder of Minnesota's first psychedelic assisted therapy clinic, Intero Psychedelic Therapy. He is a licensed independent clinical social worker with 16 years experience in the mental health field. In today's episode we look at one of the main psychedelic medicines, Ayahuasca. An ancient psychedelic brew originating from the deep amazonian jungle. Utilized in medicine/healing ceremonies for centuries and becoming popular in modern medicine circles as well. But where did Ayahuasca come from? What exactly is Ayahuasca? How is it utilized? We look to answer all of these questions and more. Hope you enjoy! https://www.innerbloomhealingarts.com
When somebody asks, "what is the most important part of a psychedelic journey?". My answer is always "the two S's": SET and SETTING. In this podcast I review what these entail, the importance of each and how they play an integral role in the psychedelic experience.
