This past Saturday, October 18th, was World Menopause Awareness Day (women my age follow these things). In recognition of that, I sat down last week with menopause specialist Dr. Cat Brown, Medical Director at Winona. Winona is a telehealth company that empowers, educates, and treats women going through their menopausal journeys. Winona also provides women across the country access to health care providers who specialize in treating menopause. In this conversation, Dr. Brown and I talked about the new research and recommendations around Hormone Replacement Therapy ("HRT") not only for its efficacy in relieving common menopause symptoms, but also for its great benefits for bone, heart, and cognitive health. We also discuss all of the symptoms of menopause that we hear a lot about (hot flashes, sleepless nights, mood swings) and those perimenopause and menopause side effects that are less known: loss of muscle mass, brain fog, hair loss, joints that 'crack like glow sticks' (those were actually my words, not hers), dry skin and more. We explore what women can do beyond HRT and other medications—like prioritizing sleep, diet, exercise, and certain supplements—to not only mitigate the unpleasant symptoms of menopause, but most importantly, to maintain our health and vitality throughout a life transition that all women go through! If you've ever wondered whether you're in perimenopause or menopause, are curious about HRT safety, or simply want to feel more like yourself again, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

We sit down with Dr. Jerry Woodbridge — a Christian author, grief advocate, and lifelong educator whose mission is to bring comfort, understanding, and faith-based healing to grieving children and their caregivers. With over 40 years of experience in education and a deeply personal connection to grief after losing her husband in 2004, Dr. Woodbridge has turned her sorrow into purpose. Through her writing and teaching, she empowers families to navigate loss with compassion and faith. Her acclaimed books — Joy Overcame Sorrow (a children's guide to grief), Joy's Journal (a companion for healing through writing), and Trading My Sorrows for the Joy of the Lord (a reflective look at widowhood and faith) — serve as invaluable tools for both children and adults learning to process emotions and find peace. Now an assistant professor at Liberty University, Dr. Woodbridge continues to inspire others with her message that, while grief is universal, joy can still be reclaimed through faith, storytelling, and love. In this episode, Dr. Woodbridge shares:

How does fatigue help protect our bodies, and why does it matter for athletes? Can understanding evolutionary biology improve training and recovery? In this episode, Dr. Daniel Boullosa and Dr. Olli Tikkanen discuss the science of fatigue, performance optimization, and personalized training strategies. Dr. Boullosa explains how different types of athletes respond to endurance and strength exercises, highlighting the role of warm-ups in improving muscle activation. They explore the evolutionary function of fatigue as a protective mechanism and its impact on motivation, performance, and recovery. The conversation also covers how elite athletes manage training loads and recovery in sports like professional football, where intense match schedules leave little room for traditional training. Dr. Boullosa shares insights from his research on clinical populations, investigating the effects of physical activity on conditions such as depression, hypertension, and HIV. This episode provides valuable knowledge for researchers, coaches, and athletes looking to enhance performance while minimizing injury risks. Continuing their illuminating conversation, Lisa Bilyeu and Dr. Andrew Huberman return in Part 2 to unravel even more of the mysteries behind male behavior, relationships, and the neuroscience that underpins it all. Picking up where Part 1 left off, this episode transitions into the hot-button topics of jealousy, male self-worth, and the unique pressures that men face today. Andrew breaks down the pitfalls of toxic jealousy, the motivation behind “more money, more muscle” mindsets, and why so many men struggle with overwhelm and self-destructive coping strategies—including the often-taboo subject of porn. The duo also tackles emotionally charged terrain like shame, vulnerability, and why crying means something so different for men than it does for women. Through honest stories and raw admissions, Andrew shares what helps men build resilience, manage emotional pain, and ultimately open up to healing in partnership. Lisa and Andrew don't shy away from the cultural shifts facing both men and women, unpacking the future of relationships, marriage, and what it takes to foster genuine intimacy. If you want the real story on male mental health, the role of partnership as a catalyst for growth, and practical advice for creating safer, more compassionate connections—this part is a must-listen. Of all there is to know, how much does 'the smartest species' actually know? My guess is, not nearly as much as we'd like to believe. Dr. Cam's back and this was an atypically deep and philosophical conversation where we leant into religion, spirituality, parallel universes and all the 'woo-woo' stuff that doesn't really fit into our logical, explainable, comfortable, familiar, scientific box.
