The history of coffee consumption in 20th century America takes hold in the small cafes, truck stops and coffeehouses which became venues and social spaces for the community. Like music, they helped with the congregation of like minds and served as hubs for intellectual exchange, artistic expression and social activism. And it was all because of the caffeine. Instant and decaf coffees were just an aberration; much like disco. This week's Deeper Roots drives the theme of coffee home with tracks that span the century including Emmett Miller, the King Cole Trio, The Bobs, Ella Mae Morse and Merle Travis (among others) to tell us a cuppa tale or two. It's one more Friday show ahead of next week's 420 observation…one more libation to celebrate.
I had such an amazing time interviewing someone near and dear to my heart. My old psychotherapist Dr. Emmett Miller. It was a wonderful moment to be able to reconnect with him and talk about his story and his personal take on psychedelics. Dr. Miller helped create the field of Mind-Body Medicine starting in the 70's. His unique approach of holistically looking at someone's overall health has influenced the integrative medicine field of today. "Love, Life, and Healing Through the Doorway of Here and Now” How to Apply the Extraordinary Power of Selective Awareness and Your Inner Wisdom In this very experiential presentation, we reviewed the fundamental oneness of Love, Life, and Healing presented through my film, The Story of Life, and explored how to use this core understanding to guide our lives and our choices more wisely. Especially, we examined the power of the present moment and how to stay aware of it, by overcoming the increasingly chaotic cultural environment and cherishing the healing qualities of here. “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. Ultrapowering Self-Talk – Fusing Affirmations with Deep Relaxation and Guided Imagery Part 2 In part two, we will examine exactly how much affirmations work. We will examine the algorithms programmed into our minds and how they mislead us. We will see how our daily problems, illnesses, and bad habits result from these algorithms guiding our behavior. And we will examine how to use deep relaxation (entering the present), guided imagery, and ultra-powered affirmations to create a different way of being, healing, and acting in the future. We will examine how it is that when we react emotionally, we are actually not in the present moment. In fact, we are reacting based on imaginary ideas about the past and the future., And we will see that these do not exist. The present moment is the only moment that exists. Once we have entered the present moment, we see how to use guided imagery to “become” our future selves (future pacing). Finally, we will see how our affirmations from this future self can transform our present reality and overcome negative algorithms, behaviors, and reactions. This program contains two meditations and a variety of affirmations for different purposes, such as increasing self-confidence, diminishing anxiety, tapping into our spiritual resources, etc. “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. Hello, dear listener! Welcome back to the 30-day authenticity challenge. On this podcast, I often talk about the importance of being authentic. Of being yourself in every situation, with every person. So, during the course of these 30 days, we'll do the inner (and outer) work of becoming more authentic and expressing our true selves - without feeling like we need to hide who we are. Episodes will go out daily until we complete the challenge. Your task for today, DAY 14, is to reflect on a quote from the book I Am: Awakening Self-Acceptance by Dr. Emmett Miller (provided in the episode), and to ponder the question: how and where have you twisted or adapted yourself to be someone you think others want you to be, or someone you ought to be? To support the creation of this podcast, you can purchase any of my resources for self-healing here: https://josephinehardman.com/resources/ Please visit https://josephinehardman.com or send a note to me@josephinehardman.com to connect, share feedback, or let me know how the challenge is going for you. With deep gratitude for your presence, I send you all my love and support as you allow the true You to shine forth. Inner Work 2023 All Rights Reserved.
Ultrapowering Self-Talk – Fusing Affirmations with Deep Relaxation and Guided Imagery I was a sweet little guy when I was a kid, but I think I was a bit of a nerd. I wasn't athletic, but I got all A's in my academic courses. One of my favorite pastimes was reading Bartlett's familiar quotations (yeah, a real nerd) and memorizing the ones I liked. One day I found a quote and wanted to, but I couldn't memorize it. So, I practiced it daily, reading from a slip of paper in my pocket. When I finally succeeded in memorizing it, my life changed forever. I went from Chump to Champ. The quote was: “Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, though checkered by failure than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in that gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.” ---Theodore Roosevelt There may be quotes or aphorisms that have changed your life. In effect, these are Affirmations. Self-affirmations' power lies in their ability to change your thoughts and feelings about yourself. They can help you focus on your strengths, overcome your fears, and achieve your goals. Examples of affirmations are “I am calm and confident in every situation” or “I am strong and capable, and I will achieve my goals.” In this presentation, you will learn how to use the tools of deep relaxation, self-hypnosis, and guided imagery to magnify the power of the Affirmations you want to become true or stay true for you. And you will learn why they are so powerful. “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. Instead, its primary focus is to charge the highest possible prices for delivering symptomatic relief. (Note: I am speaking of the system, not the doctors). The Magic of Relationships #3: Tools for Creating Relationships Based on Love In this, our third and perhaps final program on the magic of relationships, we're going to apply the powerful theories and discoveries we've been exploring. We've seen there is very strong evidence that those who have many warm relationships live longer and are healthier and happier. We've seen how exclusive use of the Old Paradigm, which relies exclusively on the Cartesian principles of analyzing, comparing, criticizing, judging, and polarizing creates personal and relational problems. We have also seen how employing the New Paradigm, according to which we are accepting, caring, compassionate, and open to Love (with a capital “L”) can create fulfilling, lasting relationships. We will touch on the theories of Harville Hendrix, author of “Getting The Love You Want,” John Gottman and the Four Horses Of The Apocalypse approach to rescuing relationships. Then we will apply these tools to learn how to relate with others by creating dialogues that invite deeper and more expansive communications instead of debates that only increase polarization. Finally, we will explore ways to be open to life and goodness in others, to create true dialogue, and deeper sharing and to embody these new behaviors through guided imagery meditation. The Magic of Relationships #2: Practical Tools for Creating, Healing and Transforming Them We have seen how a lack of close relationships creates some diseases, exacerbates others, and can shorten our lives. We have experienced the quality of Love that is at the basis of all truly functional relationships. This presentation will explore the most powerful understandings and the most effective tools for transforming relationships. The mindfulness techniques and the guided imagery will apply to all relationships, from the most personal ones at home to the more formal ones at work or out in the world. You will learn the SAD system of peacefully and sensitively resolving situations in which another's words or actions have caused hurt, fear, anger, or other upset in you. Usually, we avoid discussing such situations because they feel like conflicts. Most of us are afraid of conflict, or we are inept at transforming conflict into deeper understanding, closer relationships, and more Love. Actually, conflict is a beautiful thing. In fact, most of our most valuable learnings in life begin with conflicts, the solution of which yields the greatest treasures and the closest friends. You will also learn how to transform a discussion that is basically a debate into a conversation that is a dialog, a communicative process in which people with different viewpoints seek mutual understanding, engaging each other in light of their different views and reaching toward that mutual understanding. Part 1: The Magic of Relationships –Key to Healing, Joy, and Longevity I initially considered entitling this presentation “Life Discoveries from One Who, Throughout Grade School, Consistently Failed ‘Works and Plays Well with Others' and ‘Respects the Rights of Others'.” As the years passed, as I experienced the constant progression of people approaching, lingering for a while, and then moving away, I began to get the distinct feeling that someone, somewhere, was trying to communicate with me. Then, suddenly, reality dawned! Relationships really are magic! Science has shown us that: When epidemics (and pandemics) strike, those with close friendships have a better immune response, a critical factor in survival. People with serious illnesses heal faster when they have warm and loving relationships. Studies show that even cancer patients present with less metastatic disease and are less likely to die of their disease. People with warm social relationships have longer telomeres, leading to longer and healthier lives. In animal studies, social isolation and exposure to social stress are associated with greater telomere shortening.” And happiness? The amazing Harvard Study of Adult Development followed nearly 1000 men from their teens to their 90s and concluded that there is a strong link between happiness and close relationships with family and friends. In this webinar, you will discover why relationships became so important to animals and humans and how the need for relationships is programmed into our nervous system. You will learn the central importance of love and the creation of success, happiness, and health and see how most illnesses result from our resistance to love. You will learn a simple communication formula for transforming troublesome relationships into rewarding ones and experience how to apply these principles to your life through deep relaxation, mindfulness, meditation, and mental image rehearsal. “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. Experiencing Deep Healing from the Highest Level of Mind– The Transforming Power of the Human I have been trying to simplify the set of principles for healing body, mind, emotion, behavior, and relationship into a single process, a kind of psychological unified field theory. The set of experiences I will guide you through comes pretty close to achieving this. Your experience will be moving, inspiring, and perfectly designed for you employing the use of your higher mind. The deep and powerful experiences you are going to be exposed to here, comprise the essence of the self-healing tools I have discovered and developed through my 50 years of clinical practice and research. I offer you nothing less than the experience of healing yourself deeply from the highest level of your mind, and the opportunity to experience the transformational power of the human spirit. I have watched it bring healing to thousands of people and I now want to offer it to you. You will learn, experientially, a complex imagery process consisting of five basic movements: • Entering the Now • Centering • Deep Self-Awareness • Opening to Inner Wisdom and Spiritual Resources • Mental Image Rehearsal for creating your future Continue to practice daily and you can create a grounded, centered, empowered, and inspired response to any obstacle or challenge, and turn it into an opportunity. Hard to beat that, eh? “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. Guided Imagery Meditations for Individual Healing and Global Transformation This highly experiential presentation focuses on applying New Paradigm thinking most effectively through Wisdom Accessing, Mental Image Rehearsal, Deep Meditation, and (Deeper) Self-Affirmation. You will learn a series of Guided Imagery Meditations designed to accelerate your ability to use New Paradigm thinking to transform your health, your happiness, and your life. In our experiences thus far, we have explored how: Our happiness has been hijacked because we have been taught that more will make us happier Our prosperity has been hijacked by those that have taught us that debt is the way to wealth Our health has been hijacked by a “health care” system that does not serve our wellness but profits from our sickness Our patriotism has been hijacked by fear-mongering and propaganda of the most feculent variety ...and our thinking has been hijacked by media filters that lead us to see only according to the either/or paradigm. We have seen how most of our personal illnesses, habits, emotions, and failures are the result of our having been incessantly programmed to view the world through a particular algorithmic filter that we've been calling the Old Paradigm. We have also seen how applying this same paradigm has severely degraded our communities, nation, and world. The Old Paradigm is built on reductionism, analysis, fragmentation, prejudice, comparison, criticism, and other divisive activities common to violence and aggression. On the other hand, we have seen and experienced how the New Paradigm I have offered adds crucial balancing elements including Love (with a Capital L), holism, acceptance, respect, and integration. I offered the opinion that in many essential ways, Love, Life, and Healing are all expressions of the same fundamental merge urge to merge, and create wholeness, happiness, joy, success, and positive evolution. After so many years, we have been programmed to expect people to see the world in this Old Paradigm way. Unfortunately, we too, have been infected with the virus that leads to our losing the state of pure joy of the newborn infant. Instead, we have been converted into the frightened, self-conscious, unloving, and unhealthy people we have become in so many ways. We have seen how the Internet, and especially social media, has amplified this through the echo chambers that produce the vicious circle of a feedback loop that is destroying the health of our families, our democracy, and even the world. I will present a series of meditations designed to empower you to shed the false skins of the past, quiet the monkey mind through centering, awaken the true you, and to access the wisdom and spiritual guidance available through the higher levels of your mind. Be ready to experience profound relaxation, peace, and inspiration. Our goals are to overthrow our “learned helplessness,” decondition negative states of mind and emotion, bring peace to ourselves within and awaken a wise, compassionate inner leader for ourselves and the world. “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. New Paradigm Thinking – Part 2 Why?” I asked myself as a high school student are we, a brilliant race of beings, screwing up so badly? It has taken a lifetime of research and practice to find an answer and a remedy. And, remarkably, the way to heal our personal illnesses and dysfunctions works at the collective level and is the most effective way I have found to transform the whole system In this presentation, we will review The story of Love as the essence of Life and Healing The role of the Dark Force at the core of our illness and dysfunction The New Paradigm that goes beyond the Analytic/Either-Or thinking to include Integrative, Both-And thinking Then we will examine the way modern technology has found a way to enslave our unconscious minds with mass hypnosis to create Learned Helplessness, Polarity, and addictive dependency. “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. Deep Relaxation, Guided Imagery, and Self-Healing: How to Make Them Work for You Healing is the process by which we become more whole, more complete, better functioning at all levels. We recognize physical healing when bleeding stops, a wound closes, or pain goes away. But true healing includes wholeness at the mental, emotional, and behavioral level as well . . . and also at the social level. Emotional signs that healing is needed are anxiety, fear, frustration, anger, resentment, and so forth. And most of us have too many negative feelings, even though we usually hide them from ourselves. But this works only temporarily and in time the internal stress from carrying them around in this hidden form tends to produce physical disease. Soon we see headaches, high blood pressure, cancer, allergies, infections, and so forth. And when we get sick from something else, such as flu or COVID our healing is slowed down or completely blocked. Untreated emotional stress is also at the basis of our bad habits, addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, etc.), poor decisions, and failure. And all types of stress lead to the shortening of telomeres and shorten your life. In this presentation, you will learn scientifically, why this all happens, and you will learn, experientially, how you can use deep relaxation, Self-awareness, guided imagery, and mental image rehearsal to go beyond symptomatic relief to Deep Healing. You will be introduced to your subconscious mind and learn how to work in harmony with it, and get it to support your true goals in life. “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. How to Heal Your Physical Body with Mindfulness and Guided Imagery Meditation In this fascinating and eminently useful session, you will discover how to apply the powerful Mind Tools Dr. Miller has developed during his 50 years of research and clinical application. You will learn to guide your “monkey mind” and your “reptilian” system to initiate and speed up recovery from illness, and to work in concert with and augment other medical interventions like antibiotics and surgery, among others. We will focus on exactly how to use these powerful Mind Tools to deal specifically with the physical healing of the body. You will learn powerful image techniques for dealing with diseases of muscle tension including headaches, high blood pressure, asthma, backache, IBS, and other digestive problems. “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. Treating the Source, Not the Symptoms: Training Your Monkey Mind and Healing Your Self “My 50 years of experience as a physician studying the holistic approach to medicine and healing, have convinced me that our medical system is not focused on healing our bodies, minds, emotions, and behaviors. Instead, its primary focus is to charge the highest possible prices for delivering symptomatic relief. (Note: I am speaking of the system, not the doctors). Its goal is to treat the symptoms of our illnesses, not the source of our illnesses.” ― Emmett Miller, MD In his clinical practice, Dr. Miller has focused on discovering the source of our illnesses and dysfunctions and how to heal them. In this presentation, Dr. Miller will introduce you to a different way of thinking about human illness and dysfunction, whether it be physical, emotional, behavioral (addictions and bad habits), or simply the failure to be successful, happy, and loving. You will be introduced to a direct experience of your subconscious mind, your “monkey brain,” and how current science indicates that up to 95% of our illnesses are the result of unnecessary stress caused by the inappropriate behavior of this ancient part of your nervous system. Upgrade Your Mental Operating System! You will be offered an opportunity to directly experience the operation of this “limbic system” and learn how to apply the tools of mindfulness, meditation, guided imagery, and mental image rehearsal to upgrade your mental operating system to change the course of your illnesses, your behaviors, and your life. Why has no one taught you this till now? Simply put, in our Medical “System” there is virtually no money to be made teaching you the tools to heal yourself and take charge of your life, compared to the tens of thousands to be earned treating symptoms with MRI scans, heart surgery, medications, radiation, chemotherapy and the like. The “System” resists approaches that put you in charge. After all, if you are making wise decisions, you won't settle for mere symptomatic treatment, buy the superficial products, vote for the inadequate politicians, or hate whom the system tells you to hate. The Power of Wisdom to Transform Our Lives “The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.” ― Isaac Asimov Who has not looked at the world around us and wondered: “How can the human race be so brilliant as to create computers, satellites that orbit the earth, and the internet and yet be so foolish as to spend so much time making each other uncomfortable, fighting, and destroying the very earth we all live upon?” Why is it that we are not wiser than that? To be successful in my work of helping those who came to see me for therapy or coaching, I had to figure out how to help them be wise. In this webinar, I will share what I have learned after several decades of studying this phenomenon of wisdom – something most people think they understand but do not. Sometime back in the 1930s, the American theologian Ronald Niebuhr wrote these words in a sermon: “God, give me the grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things which should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.” Although I was a militant agnostic at the time, these words made a great deal of sense to me. I had seen the enormous suffering many people experienced because they felt continuously guilty, ashamed, or resentful about things that had happened in the past, even though these feelings and thoughts could do nothing to change the past. As a result, they could not be happy and successful in their current life. In fact, their disappointment over how things turned out in the past led them to feel helpless, so helpless they were unable to take steps to accomplish the things that they actually could do! How tragic, yet I could see this same pattern over and over . . . and I could see how most unhappiness and failure, in relationships and in life in general, was the direct result of this simple pattern. In this presentation, you will learn what wisdom is, how it differs from knowledge, how it is blocked by stress, and how it is related to our system of spirituality (or deeply held values). Through meditation, guided imagery, and other Mind Tools, you will have an actual living experience of these principles. "By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is the easiest; Third, by experience, which is the bitterest." - Confucius Your Choice! An Evolving Society with Competing Interpretations of “Unity.” with Dr. Emmett Miller Dr. Miller will present, and you will experience, the enduring power of meditation “Healing means the restoration of balance, homeostasis, and the creation of wholeness (holism). This creates special challenges in an evolving society with competing interpretations of “unity.” Dr. Miller will present, and you will experience, the enduring power of meditation, Selective Awareness, and guided imagery informed by spiritual integrity and enthusiasm (the God within).” The problem with Old Paradigm thinking in today's world is that the three behaviors it triggers, fight, flight, or freeze, cause us to physically and emotionally attack or run from the challenges facing us, when what we need is to be able to be at peace, accept the truth of the present moment, and, instead of avoiding the true facts, contemplate them with the higher levels of the mind, guided by the spiritual level, and evolve transformative approaches. This is what I call upgrading our mental operating systems so that our responses are informed by wisdom and Love. Are Vaccines good for Us, or do they Cause More Problems than they Prevent? A controversial subject, “Are vaccines good for us, or do they cause more problems than they prevent? And, what about the mRNA vaccines for Covid 19, (which many people so they are not really vaccines, but an experiment in genetic manipulation)? This program asks the question, “Are we allowing ourselves to Think clearly about severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 or as we have come to refer to it, Covid 19.” When the medical profession first encountered Covid 19, we didn't know what to do when people arrive in the hospital in distress. We were afraid to use hydrocortisone, when, many months and many deaths later, hydrocortisone turned out to be extremely useful. We immediately intubated our patients and put them on respirators and looking back it looks as though that was actually a death sentence for many of them. It seemed that we did not have any reliable treatments available so we did the best we could and prayed for the arrival of the vaccine. In record time a vaccine appeared, and Most people stood thankfully online to receive their injections. But then it turned out that many people were unwilling to be vaccinated. The government continues to insist that the shots are completely harmless and that is those who are resisting are simply irrational. Arguments and fights broke out with are the vaccinated trying to force those who are resistant to take their shots so that we could hurry up and get to “herd immunity.” I have been trained to trust those that make the medications and have admired Dr. Fauci for years. But through the months of our recent pandemic, I have begun to have some doubts --- so for our conversation today I have invited my long-term colleague and friend, Jack Travis, who has been studying the vaccine question in detail and who has created and it enormously valuable website, VaccineFacts.info that I guarantee will raise your eyebrows and bring you useful well-researched information Find Dr. Miller here: www.drmiller.com

John Oates & The Good Road Band ‘Live In Nashville’ Set For September 18th Release Four new originals along with covers of Mississippi John Hurt, Jimmy Rogers, Don Gibson highlight second Thirty Tigers album LOS ANGELES, July 31, 2020—Rock & Roll Hall of Famer John Oates has had a home in Nashville for more than a decade, performing with some of the city’s most sought-after musicians. John’s Thirty Tigers debut, Arkansas, performed with The Good Road Band, was released in 2018, proving a critical and commercial success in the Americana and roots community, a combination of originals with classic songs popularized by Mississippi John Hurt, Jimmy Rodgers and Don Gibson. After two-plus solid years of honing their chops through touring, that group – mandolin stalwart Sam Bush, pedal steel maestro Russ Pahl (Dan Auerbach), electric guitar whiz Guthrie Trapp, expert bassist Steve Mackay, cello prodigy Nate Smith (Kacey Musgraves) and drummer/percussionist extraordinaire Josh “Daddy” Day – returns intact for Live In Nashville, set for release on September 18 on all major digital streaming platforms. The set was recorded last January 9 at Station Inn, the legendary intimate listening room in The Gulch section of Nashville where the band first took shape. “This album represents a full-circle moment for me,” said John, in quarantine with his family in his adopted Music City home. “It feels like the culmination of the Arkansas project, being able to bring these guys back, and to be able to make this record after touring and playing so many shows together.” Inspired by Mississippi John Hurt, Live in Nashville features songs like the gospel-blues opener, “Lord Send Me,” the Delta blues of the standard “Stack o Lee” and an electrified take on “Make Me a Pallet on Your Floor,” dubbed “Pallet Soft and Low,” where John manages to show off some of his well-honed rock guitar skills. In yet another “full circle moment,” John pays tribute to his own childhood with a cover of Don Gibson’s “Oh Lonesome Me,” the first song he learned to sing and play on guitar as a six-year-old after hearing it on the radio. Several of the songs come with Oates’ own stories about the songs, connecting the dots as to their connections, including popular hits of the era like the Mississippi Sheiks’ 1930 success, “Sittin’ on Top of the World,” Emmett Miller’s 1924 breakthrough, “Anytime” and Jimmy Rogers’ 1932 classic, “Miss the Mississippi and You.” Watch "Anytime" HERE “I was always fascin

The latest symptom is the COVID-19 epidemic which has become a pandemic that could easily have been stopped in its tracks. Before Outkast, Goodie Mobb and TI burst out of Georgia, there was Blind Willie McTell and James Brown. Before Trisha Yearwood, Alan Jackson and Jason Aldean stepped onto the country music scene, Brenda Lee and Chet Atkins were changing the sound of country music altogether. What unifies those musical giants? Georgia. On Second Thought embarked on an audio tour of the dense and diverse musical roots of Georgia, from Ma Rainey and the Skillet Lickers to Emmett Miller and Otis Redding.
Leon Redbone, troubadour from a distant time, died this week. He was unique. He sang Ragtime, Vaudeville, Blues and Jazz tunes. He was the foremost interpreter of the last of the blackface minstrels, Emmett Miller. Nobody seems to be mentioning that in the coverage of his death, but to leave that out would to be eliminating a giant portion of Leon's repertoire. Deadpan, funny, a living ghost who put a smile on everyone's face, even if they didn't know why. Circa 1989, I was doing a network radio talk show on the American Radio Network, based in Baltimore, MD. He agreed to do a phoner from his home near Philadelphia, PA one Saturday night, although that's not where he claimed to be when I called. Naturally, there were no cell phones so when I dialed area code 215, i knew where I was calling. He told me I was mistaken and he was in Spain. It was the kind of thing he was known for. A god-natured shadowy figure of uncertain lineage singing now-obscure music. He always sounded like an old man, even though, when we did this interview he was, and remained until his death, four years younger than I. His heirs continued the joke when they announced his death at age 127. The audio here is shitty. A very cheap audio cassette recorded on an inexpensive studio cassette machine. I did not edit, keeping in all of the radio ephemera, including the commercials. Use headphones. It's worth it.
