Join Wendy this week as we wrap up our series in the Letters of John. John’s third letter is so short that it only takes five minutes to read but it gives us a master class on how to build others up, offer correction and warning, and leave them with a sense of peace. The lessons from this letter are timeless and practical reminders to live out our faith with authenticity, humility, and a heart for service. John’s letters are instructions and warnings for us, but they also serve as examples how to biblically encourage our brothers and sisters in the Lord by keeping truth the main focus. This week, join Zenovia in our discussion of 2 John. While not everyone is called to teach the Word of God formally, we’re called to build one another up, stirring others to love and good works. John’s purpose in writing was to assure his readers that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true and they could be certain of their salvation. Our present-day culture seeks to undermine the gospel with false ideas that dilute the truth and stir us to doubt what the Bible teaches. Listen in this week as Tiffany highlights five key truths about Jesus and our identity in Him. Through Him, we are children of God. He sets us free to pursue a life of repentance and spiritual growth. He calls us to love others in our words and actions. He leads us into truth so we can navigate false teaching, staying grounded in the Word. John reminds us that as believers, we have the Holy Spirit living within us. He is greater than any power, any pressure, or any persuasion of this world. We don’t fight in our own strength. We don’t have to live afraid or timid. We can live aware, alert, and anchored in the One who have already overcome! Join Cathe this week as we jump into our series in the Letters of John. At the time of writing these letters, John is an old man, the last of the apostles living. He writes to believers, “so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). In the coming weeks, we will find that being a Christian is more than doctrines and creeds that we memorize. God has invited us, not only to believe in a set of truths, but to experience Him and have it change your life. As Nehemiah continued the work of rebuilding, the opposition was unrelenting. When outward threats didn’t work, the enemy tried to discourage and disrupt the work from within. We can expect this in our walks as well. In this podcast, Shelley traces the steps Nehemiah took to resolve the issues threatening to divide and distract God’s people. We see the importance of having a strategy to guard against the enemy and why it is vital for us to be rooted in the Word of God. Nehemiah’s memoir is a testament to the faithfulness of God who (unlike us) doesn’t abandon His projects halfway through. As the story unfolds, it points us toward God’s ultimate restoration project and the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. We have a Savior who restores hearts and rebuilds lives! Paul wanted the Colossians to understand that how they lived should tell others who they were, or better yet whose they were. The Galatians started out well, but troublemakers convinced them they had to do more to be accepted by God. That's the pitfall of legalism; it distorts the gospel and cheats us out of the intimacy and joy of grace through faith. Galatians might not read like a typical love letter, but Paul loved the believers in the churches there and wanted to keep them accountable. After preaching the gospel throughout the region on his first visit, many Gentiles were saved, and new believers were growing in their faith. But troublemakers infiltrated the church, convincing them that faith wasn't enough without keeping the law, too. Paul was understandably angry because gospel revision of any kind is gospel reversal. We see this in our own culture today. In this episode, Tiffany reminds us that the invitation of the gospel is for everyone, and the truth of the gospel is by grace, through faith in Christ alone.
