May 3, 2026 When life feels uncertain—when we're anxious, confused, or lost—Jesus doesn't just point us to a path, he says, “I am the way.” He claims to be the truth in a world full of opinions, and the life that nothing else can give. Christianity isn't about what works for you—it's about what's true. And if Jesus is who he says he is, then following him doesn't just promise heaven later, it gives purpose, peace, and new life right now. Through Jesus, we move forward with hope. About this Sermon Series: What if the God you've heard about is more personal, more present, and more powerful than you've experienced? In this 6-week series, we'll explore the “I AM” statements found throughout Scripture—words God uses to reveal His character, His heart, and His invitation into relationship. These statements aren't just descriptions—they're declarations of who God is for us. He is not distant or abstract. He is near, knowable, and actively at work in our lives. Each week, we'll uncover a different aspect of His identity: the Bread that satisfies, the Light that reveals, the Shepherd who leads, the Resurrection who brings life, the Way who guides, and the Vine who sustains. Along the way, we'll wrestle with what it means to move beyond knowing about God to truly knowing Him—personally, deeply, and authentically. This series is an invitation to trade shallow familiarity for real intimacy… to encounter the living God, not as a concept, but as a Person.

John 14:1-14
Join us as we continue our sermon series, "WHO IS JESUS?" In Matthew 16, Jesus asks His disciples the most important question anyone will ever answer: “Who do you say I am?”Our answer to this question determines everything. How we live, how we worship, who we trust, and ultimately where we will spend eternity.Online resources: https://www.renovatethecity.com/
The world says truth evolves—but Jesus says He is the Truth. Culture offers many paths—but Jesus says He is the Way. And real life doesn't begin when circumstances improve—it begins when Christ takes center stage. In this message, we explore Jesus' powerful words in John 14:6 and what it means to stop admiring Jesus from a distance and start walking with Him daily. This isn't about information—it's about transformation. You don't follow a path to Jesus. You follow Jesus—and He becomes the path.
JOHN 14:1-14 - THE WAY TRUTH LIFE - BRIAN SUMNER - 2025JOHN 14:1-14 "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father'? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it."To support this channel and partner with Brian in Ministryhttps://www.briansumner.net/support/For more on Brianhttp://www.briansumner.nethttps://www.instagram.com/BRIANSUMNER/https://www.facebook.com/BRIANSUMNEROFFICIALTo listen to Brians Podcast, click below.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Purchase Brians Marriage book at https://www.amazon.com/Never-Fails-Da...Brian is a full time "Urban Missionary" both locally and internationally with a focus on MISSIONS - MARRIAGES - MINISTRY. On this episode of Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, we confront the horrific attack at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. The shooter, Robert “Robin” Westman, once walked those same halls as a student. Years of unchecked mental illness and spiritual rebellion ended in bloodshed.America is in denial. We refuse to face the truth: the transgender movement is built on a Satanic lie. No one can change the sex God gave them. Pretending otherwise doesn't heal broken souls, it destroys them and puts others in danger.Christians must speak plainly. Love does not mean affirming sin or confusion. Love means pointing people back to Christ, who alone gives us our identity. Until our nation repents and turns back to God, tragedies like this will only increase.Pray for the victims and their families.--https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee
The Way to the Way/Truth/Life
We conclude our Way, Truth, Life sermon series by looking at what it looks to have union with Christ and the our aim in life towards that end.
"The Way, The Truth, and The Life" – Power and Promise In this message, Pastor Matt explores Jesus' declaration in John 14:6: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Set during Jesus' final moments with His disciples before His crucifixion, this sermon reveals how Jesus used Jewish wedding customs to illustrate His relationship with believers. Just as a Jewish bridegroom would prepare a place for his bride and return for her, Jesus promises to prepare heavenly dwellings for His followers and come back for them. Key Insights: * Jesus doesn't just show us a path—He IS the destination * Christianity isn't about religious performance but about "knowing, growing, and walking closer with Jesus, our eternal Savior" * From our first breath of faith to our final earthly moment, our relationship with Christ should be growing more intimate * Jesus patiently addresses His disciples' confusion and questions, showing us how He meets us in our uncertainty Key Scripture: John 14 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/JHN.14.NIV) This message concludes with an invitation for believers who haven't yet been baptized to take this first step of obedience in their Christian walk. As Jesus tells His troubled disciples: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." Whether you're new to faith or have been following Jesus for years, this message will deepen your understanding of what it truly means to follow Christ as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In this week's sermon, guest Pastor Jay Mathis led us to reflect on the true meaning of communion, emphasizing that it is a gift of grace, not something we create. Through faithful obedience, we remember the finished work of Christ, proclaim the power of the gospel, and examine the affections of our hearts. Communion calls us to repentance, renewal, and joyful participation in the life Christ offers.
This week, Pastor John continues in our Way, Truth, Life sermon series, as we explore the high cost of true discipleship. Jesus calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him fully, with a heart fully dependent on Him.
This week, Pastor John led us through Hebrews 10:19-23 as part of our Way, Truth, Life sermon series. He reminded us that through Jesus, we have been given access to draw near to God and experience His powerful help, marvelous presence, and promised assurance.
This week, we focus on two of the most powerful statements Jesus ever made about Himself. The account of Jesus bringing Lazarus back from death to resurrected life is so familiar, but Debbie encourages us to slow down and take it all in again. There is only one path to salvation and everlasting life, and it is found in Jesus Christ. This week, Pastor John kicked off our new sermon series, Way, Truth, Life, by highlighting how, in John 14, Jesus clearly states that He is the one and only way to God and heaven.

In John 14:6-7, Jesus makes what is perhaps his most counter-cultural "I Am" statement. As "the way, the truth and the life", Jesus doesn't just show us the way to the Father - He IS the way to the Father. As His followers, we must be obedient to His way and connected to His truth in order to bring about His life. And as we share this with others, we have the privilege to use God's living and active words from scripture. --- Join us for service online or in-person in Grand Rapids every Sunday at 8:30, 9:45 & 11:15AM (EST).
