We conclude our Way, Truth, Life sermon series by looking at what it looks to have union with Christ and the our aim in life towards that end.
"The Way, The Truth, and The Life" – Power and Promise In this message, Pastor Matt explores Jesus' declaration in John 14:6: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Set during Jesus' final moments with His disciples before His crucifixion, this sermon reveals how Jesus used Jewish wedding customs to illustrate His relationship with believers. Just as a Jewish bridegroom would prepare a place for his bride and return for her, Jesus promises to prepare heavenly dwellings for His followers and come back for them. Key Insights: * Jesus doesn't just show us a path—He IS the destination * Christianity isn't about religious performance but about "knowing, growing, and walking closer with Jesus, our eternal Savior" * From our first breath of faith to our final earthly moment, our relationship with Christ should be growing more intimate * Jesus patiently addresses His disciples' confusion and questions, showing us how He meets us in our uncertainty Key Scripture: John 14 (https://www.bible.com/bible/111/JHN.14.NIV) This message concludes with an invitation for believers who haven't yet been baptized to take this first step of obedience in their Christian walk. As Jesus tells His troubled disciples: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." Whether you're new to faith or have been following Jesus for years, this message will deepen your understanding of what it truly means to follow Christ as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In this week's sermon, guest Pastor Jay Mathis led us to reflect on the true meaning of communion, emphasizing that it is a gift of grace, not something we create. Through faithful obedience, we remember the finished work of Christ, proclaim the power of the gospel, and examine the affections of our hearts. Communion calls us to repentance, renewal, and joyful participation in the life Christ offers.
This week, Pastor John continues in our Way, Truth, Life sermon series, as we explore the high cost of true discipleship. Jesus calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him fully, with a heart fully dependent on Him.
This week, Pastor John led us through Hebrews 10:19-23 as part of our Way, Truth, Life sermon series. He reminded us that through Jesus, we have been given access to draw near to God and experience His powerful help, marvelous presence, and promised assurance.
This week, we focus on two of the most powerful statements Jesus ever made about Himself. The account of Jesus bringing Lazarus back from death to resurrected life is so familiar, but Debbie encourages us to slow down and take it all in again. There is only one path to salvation and everlasting life, and it is found in Jesus Christ. We look at seven "I am" statements from Jesus in the gospel of John. It is interesting to see some patterns in these various passages. People listening typically have difficulty accepting what Jesus is saying, and there's plenty to ponder in what he claims to be. We end up realising the importance of not just "having truth", but finding effective ways to express it.
This week, Pastor Jim Ellis kicks off a new sermon series focused on church unity, exploring John 14-17. In the first sermon of the series, Jim delves into John 14:1-14, where Jesus responds to the disciples' questions and reveals that He is the way, the truth, and the life.#bismarck #church #BismarckCommunityChurch #BCC #JimEllis #Gospel #community #unity #John14 #waytruthlife #TheWay #TheTruth #TheLifeSupport the showFind out more about us at BismarckCC.org. In John 14:6-7, Jesus makes what is perhaps his most counter-cultural "I Am" statement. As "the way, the truth and the life", Jesus doesn't just show us the way to the Father - He IS the way to the Father. As His followers, we must be obedient to His way and connected to His truth in order to bring about His life. And as we share this with others, we have the privilege to use God's living and active words from scripture. --- Join us for service online or in-person in Grand Rapids every Sunday at 8:30, 9:45 & 11:15AM (EST).
