The topic of ‘hell' is in need of being questioned. Is ‘hell' as traditionally taught even real? What if the word hell is actuallyNOT in the Bible at all but rather a mistranslation of other Greek and Hebrew words? What did the early churchFather's believe and teach on the topic? This 10 part series will dive into the topic and hopefully offer some much needed ‘hope-filled' perspectives. Enjoy!! Jesus is our better hope. In Hebrews 7, we see how Christ fulfills the role of the perfect and eternal High Priest, providing direct access to God and complete salvation through His finished work. This message explores the significance of Melchizedek, the superiority of Christ's priesthood, and the confidence believers can have in the better covenant established through Him.https://www.lifeatpathway.com

Join today's sermon podcast reflecting on Hebrews 6:13–20, where the preacher ties a Mother's Day message to the promise of God. Using Abraham's long wait and God's unchangeable oath, the sermon points to Jesus as the firm, secure anchor for the soul. The episode offers five practical ways to live anchored in hope during life's storms: attach your struggles to God's promises, practice anchor prayers, choose faithful responses, remove false anchors, and reach out to others who are drifting. A concise, encouraging call to trust God while you wait. ---- A Better Hope Hebrews 6:13–20 Introduction: “Mom, You Were My Anchor” Main Idea: When everything else feels unstable, God's promise in Jesus is the one anchor you can trust not to move. Learning to Wait Well (6:13–15) God often grows us in His “waiting room,” where faith and patience are formed even when we cannot see what He's doing. Why You Really Can Be Sure (6:16–18) Our security rests on two unchangeable things: God's promise and God's oath—and it is impossible for God to lie. III. An Anchor That Actually Holds (6:19–20) Our hope is tied, not to our performance or our feelings, but to where Jesus is right now—standing for us in the presence of God. Conclusion: Live anchored this week Anchor Your Storm to God's Promise Practice “Anchor Prayer” in the Waiting Room “God, You cannot lie. Jesus is my anchor. Help me trust You right now.” Choose One Faithful Response While You Wait Loosen a False Anchor and Lean on the True One Throw a Rope to Another “Drifting Boat” “This week, I will stop treating hope like a feeling and start treating it like an anchor.” Find other Podcasts, Sermon Notes and the Bulletin here. https://www.mvcnaz.org/live Stay in touch with our Church Center App at https://www.mvcnaz.org/churchcenter Contact us through our CONNECT form at https://www.mvcnaz.org/connect With Pastor Mike Curry.

In the concluding verses of chapter 7, the author continues with this theme of Jesus being a better high priest, but he brings it from theology to implication. He tells us why it matters for us personally. Because Jesus is our perfect High Priest, He gives us what the Law never could—true access to God, lasting security, and complete salvation.Jesus, as our high priest, is exactly what we need. When we struggle, He gives grace. When we fall, He advocates for us. When we come to God, He welcomes us. He is a better priest and offers us a better hope.
The Hebrew believers were being tempted to go back—to return to the old system, the Levitical priesthood, the familiar rituals of Judaism. And the author's message is clear: Why go back to something inferior when you have something infinitely better? Why go back to shadows when the substance has come? The big Idea of the text is: Because Jesus is a better High Priest, we have a better hope and a better way to draw near to God.
Last Sunday, Aaron Ninaber preached from Hebrews on Jesus our High Priest and the better hope of the new covenant. He reminded us we can draw near to God boldly—not through performance, but through Christ's finished work and ongoing intercession. Aaron also invited us to repent of distorted views of God and receive renewed confidence in the Father's love. Hebrews 7:16-22
In this week’s episode, Shelley Hurley is talking about A Better Hope. In a world that feels so uncertain, financial pressures, moral decay, wars, and fear, it’s easy to feel hopeless. But as Hebrews reminds us, Jesus brings in a better hope, one that anchors our souls and keeps us from drifting when life’s waves crash hard. This hope is not found in circumstances or systems but in Christ Himself, our refuge, our guarantee of a better covenant, and the One who gives us access to draw near to God.Support the show: https://harvest.org/donate/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
