Welcome to WDHANY, where we discuss everything from the deep and meaningful to the completely superficial. Cover art by our very own Duck.
Following on from our Duck-centric episode, we bring you one all about Milk. We go into Milk's dreams, her most embarrassing memories, what she plans for the future and, of course, our first impressions. Please excuse our recording failures near the end of this episode.
For our (hopefully sustained) return to recording on this podcast, we're starting with a series to get to know our hosts a little better. Duck is first up, so this episode is all about her.
In our shortest episode yet, thanks to all the stuff we couldn't include, we end up talking a lot about nothing.
We start this episode off with just Miso and Mash, with Duck having disappeared for no apparent reason. Since it's Father's Day this weekend, we talk a little about gifts for our dads, followed by random nonsense until Milk finally appears to tell us why she took so long to join us.
In yet another episode without Milk, we talk about Google listening into our conversations and the frustrations of not being heard, among other random things.
We're all back for the first time in forever to celebrate Duck's birthday. As usual, we've landed on the topic of food.
Miso fell asleep and failed to join our recording this week, missing everything we had to say about food, pens, houses and Miniso plushies.
In another episode without Milk, we dive into the history of PEZ and find out the origins of a few words just to pass time.
The topic that everyone is talking about right now, brought to you by Duck and Mash complete with subpar audio quality and a spotty internet connection.
Duck is MIA this week so without anything more exciting to talk about, the remaining three of us went off on tangents about pottery class, future properties and flavoured milk.
We return to you after our first hang in months. Again, apologies for the spotty connection.
All four of us have returned (hopefully for more than one episode) and we spend some time catching up. We're still recording over Discord so apologies for bad connection/audio quality/etc.
In which we talk about the documentary Don't F*** With Cats.
Special guest and loyal listener Pear Cider joins us today. We talk a lot about books, a lot of about women in the workplace and Mash ends up talking over everyone.
Apologies for the (once again) terrible audio. We finally got around to discussing desserts and our multiple attempts to chase down some donuts.
We're finally back (hopefully for good) with an episode about things we collect. Hear about our various collections, from origami and notes we've received to rocks and ... men's clothing.
Duck wanted to talk about expectations and self growth, a topic inspired by her current travels. Unfortunately, we hit some connection problems so our segments this week are a little more truncated. We're also missing milk this week due to some bad lunch.
Duck finally joins us to talk about her two-week trip to Central Australia. Hear about her time in the Red Centre (which turns out to be more brown than she expected).
You can probably see that we've had a break from recording over the last month, mainly due to the adventures that we've been having. Now that we're back to our normal routines, we thought we'd get back into things by recounting everything that's happened since you last heard from us. Stay tuned for Duck's adventures next time!
Strawberry shortcake (Cake) joins us this episode to talk about all things hair: growing hair, dying hair, removing hair ... This recording was made after a long day with more than a few drinks so be prepared for lots of giggling and a sudden descent into chaos nearing the end of the episode.
It's been a very cold week in Sydney, so we decided to have a chat about winter clothes in this episode. What's the history behind down jackets? What's so good about merino wool other than its natural antimicrobial properties (which Duck forgot to mention)? And what are our favourite host foods' winter clothing preferences?
In this episode, we talk about two equally addictive things: bubble milk tea and cannabis.
How do you eat your pies and burgers? Listen in as Miso complains about Mash's pie-eating habits. Catch up on the both Duck and Miso's boy dramas and take a step back to 2014 (or was it 2015? 2016?) with Milk as she tells her story about a $50 hotel room.
In a mostly unedited episode, we grill Miso on her views about boys and relationships.
We got a little carried away, as you can tell by the length of this episode, discussing Miso and Duck's boy problems and thinking (far) into the future about the details of Milk's wedding.
In which we continue to talk about nothing. (In this case, 'nothing' refers to trends we think will soon disappear, Duck's facebook friend list clean and a rather lengthy discussion about the book "Sapiens" by Yuval Noah Harari.)
This episode is dedicated to helping Miso find solutions to a problem she's been having.
When this many girls get together, it's only a matter of time before we end up discussing tampons and pads. Apparently, the 10th episode is the best moment for milk to launch into discussing period-related topics. Since we're already already chatting about things we don't want to think about, we also discuss phobias and Duck talks about her experience with a sensory deprivation tank.
Duck has had to leave us for Brisbane so we've recorded this over the internet on a weeknight. You can tell that we're sleepier than usual by the slower pace of our conversation and the complete lack of substance in what we're saying.
[Trigger Warning: Discussion about death and suicide contained in this episode.] Following on from our previous discussion, we launch into an episode about black holes, broken relationships and death. (Plus more helicopters and a flying kangaroo.)
This episode is brought to you from a beautiful day at the Barangaroo Reserve. Maybe it's the heat of the sun, or the annoying aerodynamic noise from passing helicopters and planes, but this episode we talk start talking about some more serious issues. It starts off as usual, with some light chat about superstitions and ghosts but soon delves into some more realistic concerns ... with even darker topics to come in the next episode.
We're still at Duck's place, discussing the ever-important skills of organising clothes and writing a good email. Then we think into the (far) future and talk about husbands and children.
It's a beautiful day at Duck's house as we record this episode. Duck decides to interrogate Miso about adapting to life in a new country and Milk wants to know what all our pet peeves are. We talk about what we'd like the movies of our lives to be like and dive into a discussion about consciousness and learning.
We find ourselves at the Paddington Reservoir Gardens this week, still battling against the wind. Milk asks us about removing white hair and Miso goes into the TV series she's been watching lately - Love, Death & Robots.
We find ourselves sitting down for an hour at the Sydney Botanic Gardens this episode. We're talking about Taoism and Pooh, the zombie apocalypse and what clothes or very expensive shoes you would save in a fire. We also recommend something you should do (the Taiwanese exhibition at the NSW Art Gallery), and talk about things we hope no one has to go through (being put on hold in a call).
In this episode, we enjoy high tea while discussing everything from contemporary asian art to using leaves as toilet paper.
Welcome to We Don't Have A Name Yet! In this episode, we introduce ourselves and talk about what we're doing with this podcast. By the end of the episode, we're carried away by a discussion of podcasts and TV.
Duck wanted to talk about cooking, what we love/hate and how we go about this unavoidable 'everyday' task.
Miso suggested we talk about family problems, but what she really wanted was to discuss stereotypes about families. While Duck is away, we talk about the differences between being an only child and having siblings as well as our experiences with the controlling Asian parent stereotype.
We promised to bring you an episode where we answered your questions, so here it is. Apologies for the delay.
Milk wanted us to have a light-hearted conversation about childhood toys ... which somehow ended up in a surprisingly deep discussion about boys and relationships.
The COVID episode, which we have been avoiding for a while now.
Our thoughts on the next generation, brought to you without Milk.
Descending into a very girly topic this week, we discuss skincare routines, skincare spending and ... more about skincare.
No, we're not talking about the sitcom. Miso wanted to talk about childhood friends and current friends, how we make them and how we interact with them. Brought to you for the first time in a long time by all four of us.
We've arrived at our final "get to know us" episode, concluding with an episode all about Mashed Potato. Even though Milk couldn't join us, she still made her presence felt with her signature questions. Enjoy the last part of our reintroduction of WDHANY!
This episode is all about Miso Soup! We cover the basics but just for Miso, we also dive into love and sex. We recorded together in person for the first time in forever (meaning: we recorded over food) so please excuse any chewing/food crunching sounds that have been picked up in this episode. Enjoy!
Duck and Mash reflect on being in their 20s ... and just on the last decade in general.
