Frank Murphy's friend Avi McCullah is today's co-host. Avi worked on-air at Jewelry Television and ShopNBC, where she sold high-end men's watches. Avi bought her shirt at T.J. Maxx on the way to the podcast. Frank saw an article titled “The TJ Maxx where Amber Heard was spotted shopping is actually a celebrity hot spot — and a Hamptons secret gem.” Avi will visit T.J. Maxx when she is traveling. Frank admits doing the same thing at Kohl's. It's easier to find orange clothing outside of Knoxville. Avi has purchased orange jewelry out of town. Frank says that UT orange (PMS 151) helps you blend in like camouflage in East Tennessee. Avi left the tags on the shirt in case she decides not to keep it. Frank tried on shirts at a grocery store with a clothing department and started to sweat when his size was too tight. At other stores, the same size might be too loose. Frank broke a chair onstage by bouncing on it during an Einstein Simplified show. Audience member Heather took a picture at the moment that Frank realized the seat of the chair had cracked. As a kid Frank disliked posing for photos. A local bank had a promotion offering families a chance to pose for a portrait in the bank's lobby. Frank got upset at how he looked. His discomfort was visible in the photo. He stormed off and walked two miles home rather than ride with his parents and sisters. Avi was allowed to play outside unsupervised until sundown. In Frank's childhood neighborhood, one of the moms would ring a bell when it was time for her kids to come home. Other moms told their kids to come home when the streetlights came on. Avi and her mom enjoy visiting museums in Washington, DC. Frank goes to the DC suburbs so often that it doesn't occur to him to go downtown. Avi also likes playing tourist in Knoxville. She has several favorite restaurants. Avi likes to go to Curious Dog Hotdogs & Sandwiches in downtown Knoxville. Frank thought the spicy mustard and sauerkraut dog at D & B's Hot Dogs and Ice Cream reminded him of New York. Avi says Brazilians put mashed potatoes and potato sticks on their hot dogs. Prior to moving to Knoxville, Frank would not have known to put coleslaw on a barbeque sandwich. Frank only wants to eat Peruvian chicken when he's in the DC area. He would rather find a local restaurant than a national chain. He likes to eat at Three Li'l Pigs Barbeque in Daleville, Virginia, when traveling along I-81. Avi likes supporting local businesses and their entrepreneurial spirit. When Frank and his wife Jere went out to dinner before going to see Bright Star in Morristown. They ordered veal parmesan at The Little Dutch Restaurant, which has been there since 1939. Avi recommends that Frank and Jere make an excursion to Chattanooga. She goes there often to visit the “medieval barber,” the guy she is dating. Avi suggests Frank take a Myers–Briggs personality test online. Her type is found in only 1.7% of women. Frank gets paralysis by analysis when trying to think up a new password for a website. This episode is sponsored by The Middleburg Barn at Fox Chase Farm. Costa Kassab is the art director for Bluey, and his been with the show through its development, funding and launch. We were really excited to talk to Costa, as the artwork of Bluey is what we were always fascinated with, and what inspired this podcast. Costa speaks about creating the world of Bluey, the role that art plays in the show and how it works with the other production elements of the show. There's also some deeper analysis of episodes such as Ice Cream and Grandad. We were also able to present Costa with a painting of the Airbnb (for real life) Bluey house courtesy of Brisbane artist Debra Hood, who is a huge Bluey superfan! The government is launching a consultation on how best to manage deer in England. The deer population of the UK is estimated to have increased from 450,000 in the 1970s to two million today - which is thought to be the highest for a thousand years. Deer have a big impact on woodland, as they can seriously damage trees. They are already culled to keep numbers down. Caz Graham asks the British Deer Society what they make of the government's proposals. Continuing a week-long look at how this year's harvest is going, we get a round-up from four different farmers in the four regions of the UK. While much of England and Wales is struggling with a lack of rain, the situation isn't the same in Scotland. Caz talks to a meteorologist from the BBC Weather Centre to find out about the differing conditions in different parts of the country. We hear about a Leicestershire farm which is helping the NHS to try out a new way of making it easier for hospital patients to get the nutrition they need. Presented by Caz Graham and produced in Bristol by Emma Campbell.

Hosted by New York Times Best-Selling Author Joanne Molinaro, Episode 14 of The Korean Vegan Podcast explores the book that changed Joanne's life. For a written version of this podcast, including additional show notes and photos, click here. Show Notes: Links, Updates and Random Things from Episode 14: Joanne's non-stick stir-fry Ballarini Pan Did you listen to the podcast I did with Desiree Nielson, on The All Sorts Podcast? BTW, Desiree has written a GORGEOUS new cookbook called Good for Your Gut, a topic that is near and dear to my stomach!! Check it out! My friend Dylan Lemay opened up a beautiful new ice cream shop called Catch'n Ice Cream and I like to think I'm responsible for the vegan option (which is delectable). If you're in NYC, make sure to head down to Bleecker Street and catch yourself a sweet vegan treat! What I'm Watching: A good friend of mine recommended The Extraordinary Attorney Woo on Netflix, a Korean drama about a young autistic woman who works for one of the largest law firms in South Korea. It's funny, heartfelt, and eye-opening. The writers do a good job of exploring ableism in the legal industry and love. I've also been bingeing The Umbrella Academy. Not the best writing and some mediocre acting, but I find the comedy to be pretty spot on and the story line wildly entertaining. If you can get past the inevitable plot-holes when time-traveling is a big component of the story, I highly recommend it. My Favorite New Kitchen Gadget: One of my favorite things about watching Korean dramas is keeping my eyes peeled for random beauty products and kitchen gadgets that aren't as prevalent here in the States. One that caught my attention was this wireless, portable food processor. I was skeptical at first, but man-oh-man, I love this thing! My regular food processor is so huge and clunky and, of course, needs to be about 7 inches from an outlet–so annoying! This one is lightweight and works like a charm. Upcoming Recipes: As many of you know, I had to take a 2-week break from work and wasn't able to do much recipe development. That said, peach season is here and I picked up a whole bunch from my local farmer's market. I'm going to be experimenting with no baking, no sugar added desserts, so stay tuned to the TKV Meal Planner for that! One of the most popular ways to beat the heat is with a scoop of ice cream. Whether it's a classic flavor like chocolate or something more adventurous like olive oil, there's always something for everybody. For some people, ice cream may not be an option. They may have learned of a recent allergy or have decided to become vegan. But plenty of shops around the Valley serve ice cream that anybody, regardless of their allergies or diets, can safely eat. In this week's episode of Valley 101, a podcast by The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com, we visited ice cream shops in the Phoenix area that cater to customers with dietary restrictions.
