Today's guests are Drew Harrington and Amanda Klane, co-founders of the frozen greek yogurt brand Yasso. Drew and Amanda have been friends for a long time; since kindergarten, to be exact. They were also both Division 1 athletes in track and soccer, respectively. Nutrition is a very important component of athletic success, but let's not pretend that athletes are immune to cravings. Drew and Amanda would try and mitigate these cravings by searching for items in the ‘better-for-you' categories, but when it came to ice cream the choices were seriously lacking. So what's better than creating a great-tasting ice cream alternative? Creating it with a lifelong friend. And if that ice cream alternative should someday surpass Klondike bars in terms of units sold? Well, that's the sweetest reward of them all. Listen in as we cover everything from their initial strategy to give away thousands of free bars in order to cultivate a grass-roots following, how they persuaded their friends with a beer in exchange for product testing, and why when creating a new product, they have to keep it 100. 100 calories or less, that is.

This is great news. Now, you can find a comfy spot and experience this urban fantasy festival adventure as written word. Here is the back of the book and then a brief excerpt; I'll read you chapter one. The back of the book: Cults, mystery, comedy, and ice cream: something is wrong in Niqamui again. It all starts with a missing child, but the real danger could be far more insidious. https://books2read.com/u/bpaxaE and it's also available on amazon, too. Please support us and pick up your copy of Ice Cream Notions and Energy Potions from amazon.com, and tell your friends about us. Thank you!

Today on the podcast I'm excited to have an interview with illustrator and author of Why We Cook, Lindsay Gardner. Lindsay is a mother of two daughters (her favorite sous chefs) and her watercolor and gouache illustrations have appeared not only in cookbooks and other editorial projects, but advertising campaigns, and stationery and interior design collaborations as well. Should they be? Will this end well? David Lee Roth announced that he is retiring and will perform some farewell concerts very soon. Is it time, or is it too soon for him to call it quits? The ratings for Saturday Night Live's season premiere were way down. Actually, it was the lowest rated premiere in the show's 47 year history. What happened? Will things get better? Even if you've never personally bought anything from Etsy, you surely know it's a marketplace for crafters and homemade goods. The company is so large, it's basically become synonymous with the industry it supports. If you want something homemade, custom, and unique, you don't go to Amazon or Walmart. You go to Etsy.com.Considering the enormous success of Etsy as a marketplace for crafters, you might assume it was built by people who were passionate about crafting. At the very least, you'd expect them to have a passing interest. But that's actually not the case.As Chris Maguire, one of the co-founders of Etsy explains in this episode of Web Masters, he and his team weren't passionate about crafting. However, they were passionate about helping people solve problems using software, and that's exactly what they did. The result was a multi-billion-dollar, publicly traded company that's changed the way people around the world shop for homemade goods. For a complete transcript of the episode, click here.
