Practical teaching as to how Christians should live in this world.
No blood, no altar now, The sacrifice is o'er! No flame, no smoke ascends on high, The lamb is slain no more, But richer blood has flowed from nobler veins, To purge the soul from guilt, and cleanse the reddest stains. We thank Thee for the blood, The blood of Christ, God's Son The blood by which our peace is made, Our victory is won, Great victory o’er death and sin, and woe; That needs no second fight and leaves no second foe.
Running over, Running over, My cup's full and running over, Since the Lord's saved me I'm as happy as an be! My cup's full and running over,
Preserve me, O God; for in Thee do I put my trust At Thy right hand are pleasures for evermore
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive....the first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. (1 Corinthians 15: 22 and 47.) If you do not believe in the first man you cannot believe in the Second! 1 Cor. 15. 45-49: 45* And so it is written, "The first man, Adam, was made a living soul," the last Adam was a life-giving Spirit. 46* But not the spiritual first, but the natural; afterward the spiritual. 47* The first man was out of earth, earthy; the second Man was the Lord from Heaven. 48* Such the earthy man, such also the earthy ones. And such the heavenly Man, such also the heavenly ones. 49* And according as we bore the image of the earthy man, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.
Spots are a teenager’s nightmare! But Christians should also avoid them. Paul warns believers to “keep oneself unspotted from the world” by not being conformed to its accepted standards, conduct and behaviour. Our Saviour was “without blemish and without spot”. Guilty, vile, and helpless we; Spotless Lamb of God was He; “Full atonement!” can it be? Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait, The sky, not the grave, is our goal; Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord! Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul! This talk was drawn from some thoughts by CHM
Jesus said "I am the Bread of Life". We need churches where the true, pure wheat of God's Word is preached. "What is chaff to the wheat? saith the Lord". (Jeremiah 23.28) Today there is "not a famine of bread, nor a thirst of water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. (Amos 8.11)
Paul’s outdated method of evangelism? No prayer walks, no binding and loosing, no speaking into the heavenlies, no March for Jesus, no Alpha Holy Spirit weekends, no spiritual mapping of Corinth, no tearing down strongholds. What a pity Paul did not know or tell us of these modern day aids to evangelism! He said “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.....we speak the wisdom of God.” 1 Cor. 2.2&7
Compromising with the enemy! It is dangerous to live on the border of enemy territory, separated from fellowship with God's people. Manasseh found this out the hard way. Spurgeon well said "Complicity with error will take from the best of men the power to enter any successful protest against it .... Fellowship with known and vital error is participation in sin".
"Study to show thyself approved unto God". Believe it of not, this rarely means "approved unto man".
The old question of suffering and why the wicked appear to flourish. We do not have all the answers but Scripture does help us to understand.
Man ever aspires to become divine, to be a god. Some churches, cults, religions, New Agers and of course Word of Faith teachers promote this lie of Satan, first introduced in Genesis 3v5”. "There is nothing new under the sun" (Eccles. 1v9).
Jesus said “As it was in the days of Noah so shall it be in days of the Son of Man” This is a short edited series where we examine what it was like in the time of Noah and how these times will be replicated in the days preceding Christ’s return to establish His Millennium Kingdom reign on earth.
Jesus said: "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11.25/26)
Does leaven in Scripture always speak to us of something displeasing to God?
In Acts 3.19 Peter preached “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out”. We must understand what this means.
Conversion, what is it and why is it necessary? "Except ye be converted" Jesus said it, so we must understand what He meant.
