Jesus said that He came to give us "life in all its fulness"- so what has gone wrong with our society?
We are travelling through life on either of two roads: a broad road which “leads to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat”, and “a narrow way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7.13/14)
Hebrews 1.3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Hebrews 10.12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Matthew 12:39-40 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
In pleasures broken cisterns I sought to quench my thirst, But blinded by the Devil's wiles I knew not they were burst.
The time will come when the will not endure sound doctrine........2 Timothy 4. 3,4........................
Our Saviour told his disciples that he would arise from among the dead. He would rise leaving the dead behind. Believers will do likewise - Christ the firstfruit then they who are Christ's at his coming - they will arise and leave those who have died without Christ still in a place of torment until the Great White Throne Judgement.
A high look and a proud heart. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes!!
For the average Christian it would appear that the resurrection of Jesus makes little difference to their daily life and lifestyle. Yet this fact according to the apostle Paul is the central theme of our faith and hope. And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. (1 Cor. 15.17) May we all show daily the joy of the Lord in our lives to a world around us and which needs to experience the life and hope which only a risen Lord can give to lost sinners.
Do all the preparations for Christmas get you down? Does life at times feel like one great merry go round but you can never get off? What is the answer? Listen to this short poem and some comments which we know could help you find peace of mind and heart.
This old poem by Matilda C. Edwards, published around 1870 in the quaint meaningful language of her day, sadly also depicts the present state of many churches. Although our Saviour said of His followers “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world,” the average Christian is hardly any different from the world about him. He watches the same films, listens to the same music and pursues the same self centred ambitions in life. This stands is direct opposition to Scripture that states, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” (2 Co. 6:17)
The life, teachings and theology of the real St. Patrick have been hijacked by commercialism and organised religion. Through all the folklore and hype St Patrick shines out and stands for the simple Gospel message: faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.
Who are they, resting in the branches? Servants of God or Emissaries of Satan? Discover which Jesus said they were!
Living by faith is a biblical principle. Many claim to live by faith but what does it mean and how should it affect my daily living?
We breathe a communal sigh of relief, we have survived another Christmas! But what does the future hold for us all? Where does Jesus fit in?
Most churches of all types and beliefs seem to practice some form of Baptism. Some sprinkle babies, some immerse babies, some baptise adults and babies, some baptise only adults. All a bit confusing? Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Galatians 4.30 Jesus said "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost". How has such a simple command ended up in such confusion?
Jesus said "Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition........... Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye". Mark 7.9,13. Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set. Prov. 22:28 Take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people. Isaiah 57:14 Churches are moving away from the doctrines and truths of the Word of God and replacing them with human reasonableness and plausible ideas.
At that first Passover the blood on the doorposts and the lintel protected those within that house from the wrath and judgement of God. God said "When I see the blood, I will pass over you" (Exodus 12.13)
God has given us His Word as the Benchmark from which we measure our beliefs. Sadly, man has moved away from God's immovable Benchmarks and in place substituted his own of tradition and compromise. God's Word is settled in heaven (Ref. Psalm 119.89)
Soon we may leave this earthly tent behind. Life is as a vapour!
Will it be a Happy New Year?
