Exod. 6.3 We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. Rev. 11.17 No darkness have we Who in Jesus abide; The Light of the world is Jesus! We walk in the light When we follow our Guide! The Light of the world is Jesus! The former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Williams has disclosed that he spends up to 40 minutes a day squatting and repeating an Eastern Orthodox prayer while performing breathing exercises as part of a routine influenced by Buddhism. He also spends time pacing slowly and repeatedly prostrating himself as part of an intense early morning ritual of silent meditation and prayer.

This week saw the Archbishop of Canterbury complain about the business activities of Amason. However, he forgot to tell his Audience at the Trade Union Conference, that his own church has an investment of thousands of pounds in the same company. In days gone by there were indeed some godly men. One such was Bishop J C Ryle (One time Bishop of Liverpool) who, unlike many Anglican leaders today, stood firmly for the Bible and its teaching. Relevant to our talk today he said: Controversy in religion is a hateful thing. It is hard enough to fight the devil, the world and the flesh without private differences in our own camp - but there is one thing which is even worse than controversy and that is false doctrine being tolerated, allowed and permitted without protest or molestation. I wonder what he would think of his church today.

    Which ye shall observe.

Another great principle here is that this inheritance is a gift from God. This unruly rabble as they wandered through the wilderness could in no way earn their entitlement to this possession. God had preordained and covenanted this many years previously to their fathers, now all they had to do was to go in and possess it in obedience and faith. What a gift, what an opportunity! What a prospect lay before them and now these were the rules by which they were to live and worship in the land where they could rest on the Word of God. God wanted to show to His people His great love for them. What an inheritance we have received and which will be completed for us when we get to heaven. But it is an inheritance which we possess now and enjoy today and on into eternity. As the children's hymn says: There's a home for little children Above the bright blue sky, Where Jesus reigns in glory, A home of peace and joy No home on earth is like it, Nor can with it compare; For everyone is happy Nor could be happier there.

Regardless of what a Catholic friend, a liberal priest, or a professor at a Catholic university may say, Trent remains the official teaching of Rome and has been reconfirmed many times since by the highest Church authority. Here are only a few of Trent's anathemas, all of which were renewed by Vatican II, The Code of Canon Law, and the current Catechism of the Catholic Church, and which remain today as the official teaching of Roman Catholicism, sustaining the inflexible dogmas of that “infallible” Church, regardless of statements by anyone to the contrary: • If anyone denies that by...baptism, the guilt of original sin is remitted [or] denies that...[the] justice, sanctification and redemption...of Jesus Christ is applied both to adults and to infants by the sacrament of baptism...let him be anathema.... (Rome's emphasis) • If anyone says that the sacraments of the New Law [i.e., the seven sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church] are not necessary for salvation...and that without them...men obtain from God through faith alone the grace of justification...let him be anathema.... • If anyone says that baptism is...not necessary for salvation, let him be anathema.... • If anyone says that after the reception of the grace of justification the guilt is so remitted and the debt of eternal punishment so blotted out...that no debt of temporal punishment remains to be discharged either in this world or in purgatory before the gates of heaven can be opened, let him be anathema.... • If anyone says that the sacrifice of the mass...wherein that life-giving victim by which we are reconciled to the Father is daily immolated on the altar by priests...is a mere commemoration of the sacrifice consummated on the cross but not a propitiatory one...offered for the living and the dead, for sins, punishments, satisfactions, and other necessities, let him be anathema. No bolder nor clearer rejection of the Bible and the gospel of Jesus Christ could be declared. This brief sample presents the actual teaching of Roman Catholicism as it is taught to and practiced by hundreds of millions of Catholics today. There is no disputing the fact that this is a false gospel, which, sadly, holds Roman Catholics in bondage on their way to the flames—not of a “purgatory” invented by popes, but to the eternal Lake of Fire. How can those who profess to admire Luther and the Reformation defend Catholicism?

(1 Peter 1.3-5) This world is not my home I'm just a passing through, My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue, The angels beckon me from heaven's open door, And I can't feel at home in this world anymore. Just over in Glory land we'll live eternally, The saints on every hand are shouting victory!
