Greetings, Summit Leaders. Rejoice! Again, I say rejoice. You are moving in the right direction. Someone once stated, "Guard your heart about all else, for it determines the course of your life." This year can be our best year! We are working with all our heart, with the right motives and balanced priorities. Our heart includes our thinking, will, and emotions. Balance is essential. Every day we are being pulled in too many directions to count. We are trying to get more done in a fixed amount of time. All this requires us to prioritize what is of most importance to us a leader. Leadership requires that we are intentional about what we allow to dominate our thinking. "We become what we think about most of the time." Earl Nightingale Studying the lives of great leaders reveals that they first cultivated themselves in light of service to others. The overflow produces favor, success, and acclaim. Great leaders seek first to know who they are, have a purpose and vision for the impact they desire to have on their life and career journey. What we seek first tends to dominate our responses to life and opportunities. When a great leader's vision and purpose center on serving others, it is called "servant leadership." Martin Luther King, Jr., Sam Walton, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Nelson Mandela, and Maya Angelou are examples. As we build skills, invest time and money to support our life and career journey, focus on who we are serving and why. • What will be the outcome for them when we are successful? • Will their success have a ripple impact on the lives of others? • How can I build up those I serve and lead for sustained growth and renewable results? It's "The never-ending quest; to serve more people at a deeper level." • page 140, Serve to Lead 2.0, 21st Century Leaders Manual - James Strock Great leaders seek to live balanced lives through a heart motivated by the right reasons. A balanced and integrated life can lead to sustainability and longevity of service. Competency grows when we focus our time, energy, gifts, and talents for the benefit of our family, clients, friends, and community. Consider the outcomes of great leaders. Their legacy is rooted in the relationships they built and the connections they made with people. "Everybody can be great because Everybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love." Martin Luther King, Jr. Leaders demonstrate conviction, courage, and confidence in serving others. They are empowered because they believe in their heart, and out of the abundance of the heart, they speak. Leaders seek first to prepare their hearts for the mission and strive to live balanced, fruitful lives. Great leaders seek first to serve, and the overflow affects every area of their lives. Choose whom you will serve. The people who know who they serve will display strength and take action! If anyone wishes to be great, let them become servants to all. Growth for ourselves, clients, and our company are our goals. Greatness is our mission! Victory! Brazilian artists are very much aware of this and have come up with great songs to describe the moment. This podcast episode - broadcast and recorded live on 24 May - is packed to the brim with music and the context it stems from: the Caipirinha Appreciation Society at its best.
Very special to be a part of a long weekend long birthday celebration in Tulum, Mexico. Before this set, I went along with all of the weekend's guests to snorkel in a cenote that had a batcave. Surreal and peaceful describe this set in the enjoyable setting of the hotel Mezzanine's exquisite moondeck. You can thank birthday celebrant FK and her good man DB for the share of this warm-up mix that kicked off her amazing weekend. At Mezzanine, there's a World/Lounge/Beach House music policy and I was obliged to adhere to their vibe guidelines.
