New DNA evidence has linked Alan Wade Wilmer Snr to the 1987 murders of 20-year-old David Knobling and 14-year-old Robin Edwards as well as the rape, strangulation and murder of 29-year-old, Teresa Howell. Alan Wade Wilmer Snr is also linked to the disappearance of Keith Call and Cassandra Hailey in 1988.   In this episode, Laura is once again joined by Bill Thomas, brother of murder victim Cathy Thomas and Kristin Dilley, podcaster, advocate and teacher to break it all down. Laura interviews Bill Thomas, brother of Cathy Thomas, and researcher, writer and advocate Kristin Dilley about the brutal murders of Cathy Thomas and Rebecca Dowski and the other three double murders often referred to as the ‘Colonial Parkway Murders.'   From 1986 to 1989 six young people were murdered and two disappeared and the FBI believed it was most likely a serial killer. 30 years ago there were a series of murders committed on Virginia's Colonial Parkway, they have never been solved. Guests: Bill Thomas, brother of victim Cathleen Thomas, Joyce Call Canada, sister of Keith Call and Jennifer Phelps, sister in law of Annamaria Phelps discuss the case and what it means to the families. The investigation is still ongoing and technology has advanced greatly over the years giving family members hope that justice will be served. Jim, Laura and Lisa are joined once more by special guest Bill Thomas and discuss the other victims who were murdered: David Lee Knobling, 20, and Margaret Edwards, 14, were found dead at Ragged Island Game Refuge on September 23 1987. They had both been shot. Richard Keith Call, 20, and Cassandra Lee Hailey, 18, disappeared from a Colonial Parkway overlook on April 10 1988 just three miles from where Cathy and Becky were killed. Their bodies have never been found. Daniel Lauer, 21, and Annamaria Phelps, 18, disappeared from a New Kent County rest stop off Interstate 64 on September 5 1983. Annamaria had been stabbed and the cause of death could not be determined for Daniel. Laura (Lollie) Winnons, 26, and Julianne Williams, 24, were last seen on May 24 1986. They were hiking the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. Daniel Lauer and Annamaria Phelps left their parents' homes in Amelia County, Virginia to drive a few hours east to Virginia Beach where Daniel's brother/Annamaria's fiance' lived. They only got as far as an hour away.
