Improved SMB macro positive for software but risks exist Small businesses have faced challenges, from higher costs to difficult hiring to higher rates and mixed demand. The Bank of America Institute examines the bank's proprietary data to better understand the US economy. Based on data through February, the Institute found that for the first time in three years, deposit growth among small clients surpassed balance growth, a sign of improved profitability. Taylor Bowley from the Institute discusses what's driving that improvement but cautions that tariffs and other risks are important to watch. Brad Sills discusses how small business makes up the majority of revenues for several software companies, so the health of these businesses is critical. Sluggishness in small business profitability over the last several years means that improvements, should they persist, could boost growth for these companies. Brad also discusses why software companies catering to small businesses have certain advantages that companies with larger customers do not. People today want to be seen and they'll do anything to be seen. They'll sleep with whoever they need to, lie, cheat their way to the top, deceive and walk all over anybody to achieve their goal. They want to go viral, be known, because it's all about them. Paul says we are hidden in Christ and will be revealed when Jesus comes back. But again, who wants to be hidden? We want to be seen! When we come to Christ, our sins are forgiven, our old, sinful nature is put to death and buried, however, Paul says there is sin that still lurks within us and we must continue to follow Jesus and crucify these desires. He lists sins of the flesh that we must continually put away and he reminds us that Christ is coming back and when he does, he is coming with a vengeance! Therefore, living for Jesus has to be the most important goal in our life, to become like him must be the goal. Anything else is idolatry, greed, and sin.

Federal Tech Podcast: Listen and learn how successful companies get federal contracts
Connect to John Gilroy on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-gilroy/ Want to listen to other episodes? www.Federaltechpodcast.com We have all heard that the phones we carry around have more computing power than was used in the Apollo moon mission. Breaking news: these powerful devices in our pockets are vulnerable to attacks of which we cannot dream. We can just pick up our phones and read the headlines. Brian Krebs reports federal charges against SMS attacks, Salt Typhoon getting into our phone systems, even the FBI telling us to use encryption on our phones. Today, we sat down with Jim Coyle from Lookout to unpack the concept of mobile threats. He begins with some startling facts. For example, Jim Coyle states that over half the movable devices in a recent study did not have an up-to-date operating system. One simple proof-of-concept is with a malicious URL. On a desktop, one can hoover over a URL to see where it is taking you; a credible URL will be clicked on a phone device with no questions asked. There are other entries as well. For example, what happens when a company with a legitimate app gets bought out by a malicious actor? It is possible for them to have an open door to your phone. The good news – a lot of mobile malwares will not survive a reboot. The lesson: every night plug in your phone, turn it off and on.

It sounds like something from an advertisement for bathroom cleaner: Researchers found over 600 different viruses, most of which are new to science, in samples taken from showerheads and toothbrushes. The viruses, however, are unlikely to affect humans. They are bacteriophages, a type of virus that preys on bacteria. The expedition into bathroom biodiversity was recently published in the journal Frontiers in Microbiomes.Around a hundred years ago in the former Soviet Union, there were major efforts to develop bacteriophages for medical use. The approach really didn't catch on in Western countries, overshadowed there by the rise of conventional antibiotics like penicillin. But with some diseases developing resistance to those conventional antibiotics, there's been increased interest in phages as part of an antibacterial toolkit.Dr. Erica Hartmann, an associate professor in the department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Northwestern University, joins Ira to talk about what researchers found when they took a close look at a collection of bathroom samples, and how phage research has advanced in recent years.Transcript for this segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com. Childhood chronic illness, mental health conditions, and behavioral disorders have been on the rise in recent decades. Is diet a part of the problem? “It's so important that we are mindful of everything that we give our kids and be reading the labels,” says integrative pediatrician Dr. Joel “Gator” Warsh. “Everything that you eat matters because we're literally built of what we eat.” Processed sugar, preservatives, and even metals are often present in food and packaging, including baby food. “So much of the rice tested positive for arsenic, and so much of the baby cereals tested positive for metals,” he adds. Warsh joins “Vital Signs” with Brendon Fallon to highlight why parents should read food labels and what to watch out for when they do. Some ingredients banned in several countries are still lurking in packaged food in the United States. The impact these foods have on children's health is becoming more apparent. “Research shows that it affects your behavior, affects your mood, certainly for kids with neurodevelopmental concerns and hyperactivity concerns, it has significant effects on them.” What are some of the main toxins present in children's food? How can parents with limited time and budgets feed their children well? “Ask any integrated practitioner what's the number one thing that you can do to see the most significant change, it's just improving the diet,” says Warsh. He points to patient examples where healthier diets improved conditions such as asthma, eczema, and chronic infections. “I see it every week, all the time.” Warsh is a board-certified pediatrician specializing in parenting, wellness, and integrative medicine. He is the author of “Parenting at Your Child's Pace: The Integrative Pediatrician's Guide to the First Three Years.” ⭕️ Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV

Send us a Text Message.Literary or genre fiction? Dumb question. This week's guest showcases just how dumb! With her debut collection of stories, Mystery Lights showing that horror is literary and literary is horror. These tales of the American desert are full of hauntings, monsters, killers, and other oddities, yet they take a non-typical approach to the strangeness. They care more about the human in the mix than the weird thing in the corner. I loved them – and they proved that every time I think I know my own reading tastes, I find an exception to the rule. Lena and I talk about her literary allegiance to the desert, about the literary establishment's appetite for strange things, about women treating women poorly, and about how she writes stories that don't need to “click.” Enjoy.
