Tom Hanks did a movie called “Cast Away” almost 30 years ago where his only “companion” on a remote tropical island was a volleyball named Wilson. Fast forward to now, and in this episode's movie “Send Help”, we're shown two people that are also trapped on a remote tropical island who would've preferred their only “companion” there was a volleyball. Rachel McAdams plays Linda Liddle and Dylan O'Brien plays her corporate boss, Bradley Preston, and they're both trapped in the middle of nowhere after their corporate jet crashes. Linda back in the world was the hard working company employee, but because she's socially awkward, gets passed over for promotions. Bradley is the smarmy, narcissistic, cruel owner of the company, only because he got it handed down to him by his Daddy, the company founder. He treats Linda like dirt even though her work keeps the company afloat. Next thing you know the tables are turned on a remote tropical island, where Linda is the boss and Bradley is the helpless subordinate, because Linda has survival skills and he doesn't. Bradley doesn't like this arrangement one bit, but Linda of course loves it. Even though Linda helps nurse him back to health and provides food and shelter for Bradley, he still is who he is. Also, Linda doesn't ever want to leave this island, and the new power dynamic. This leads to some bloody conflict and chaos. Is it worth going to the theater to see everything that happens? Lazale Ashby is a Connecticut inmate whose legal saga stems from the December 2002 rape and murder of 21-year-old Elizabeth Garcia in her Hartford apartment; DNA evidence and his own statements led to his arrest and a 2008 conviction on multiple counts, including capital felony, for which he was sentenced to death — making him one of the state's youngest death row prisoners — but after Connecticut abolished the death penalty, that sentence was converted to life plus 125 years. The Parole Board has declined parole for convicted murderer Clayton Weatherston. The 50-year-old will remain behind bars until at least November 2027. Weatherston was an academic at Otago University and had been in a relationship with honours student Sophie Elliott. In 2008 Elliot was packing up her life to move to Wellington to take up a job at Treasury when Weatherston arrived at her home and stabbed her more than 200 times in a brutal attack. Weatherston appeared before the Parole Board this morning for the first time after serving an 18-year non-parole period. Reporter Timothy Brown attended the hearing and spoke to Lisa Owen.
