In the summer of 1997, fear spread across the campus of Arizona State University as reports surfaced of women being attacked while walking home alone at night. Students were warned to stay alert, travel in groups, and avoid being out after dark. But no one expected the danger to strike in broad daylight.When 21-year-old Fiona Yu was found brutally murdered inside her own apartment, investigators described the crime as a frenzied blitz attack. Jennifer Kesse disappeared in January 2006, and her car was found about a mile away soon after. Surveillance footage showed someone parking the car, but they couldn't be identified due to poor image quality and obstructions. The case remains unsolved, though in October 2025 new DNA evidence helped investigators narrow the suspect pool and revive the investigation. Nearly 29 years after six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey was found murdered in her family's Boulder, Colorado basement, Boulder Police have announced significant movement in the case. Chief Stephen Redfearn confirmed that investigators have collected new evidence, retested existing evidence with modern DNA technology, and conducted new interviews over the past year. Dozens of items are currently being tested at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation — including evidence from the basement crime scene that was never tested before. At CrimeCon 2025, the Ramsey family's former attorney Hal Haddon pointed to the garrote used to strangle JonBenét as potentially critical, noting that DNA analysis of the knots could be "promising" since someone had to tie them. John Andrew Ramsey, JonBenét's half-brother, says it's "not if but when" the case gets solved. A new court order issued on August 1 marks a major development in the infamous West Memphis Three case. Over 30 years after the tragic 1993 murders of three 8-year-old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas, the Crittenden County court has approved cutting-edge DNA testing using the M-Vac system — a forensic breakthrough that could finally reveal new answers.The M-Vac, a wet-vacuum DNA collection system, will be used on key pieces of evidence, including the shoelaces that were used to hogtie the victims, as well as possibly their clothing and other crime scene items. The order directs that this evidence be sent to Bode Technology, one of the newest labs equipped with the M-Vac system.This case, which resulted in the conviction and eventual release of Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley Jr., and Jason Baldwin, has long been fraught with controversy, questions of police coercion, and juror misconduct. Damien Echols, originally sentenced to death, has been leading efforts to test remaining evidence using today's most advanced DNA tools.Will this be the turning point that uncovers the truth once and for all?
