Episode 295 of Tom Clark's 6M Podcast is a journey into Side B of It's Dark and Hell Is Hot. Tom Clark and Chris Patton continue their track-by-track breakdown of DMX's classic 1998 debut album, examining the album's darker second half. The guys discuss how DMX leans further into paranoia, loyalty, survival, spirituality, and internal conflict through tracks like "Crime Story," "Stop Being Greedy," "I Can Feel It," "Prayer," and "The Convo." The episode also explores the continued rise of Ruff Ryders, the raw production style crafted by Dame Grease, PK, and Irv Gotti, and how DMX's emotional honesty helped separate him from the polished "shiny suit era" dominating hip hop at the time. From street narratives to spiritual warfare, Tom and Chris break down why It's Dark and Hell Is Hot remains one of the defining rap albums of its era. Why is this album so important and does it still hold up today? Dive into that and a lot more! Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@boinkstudios Appreciate the content? In the late 2000s, the host of northern Brazil's most-watched TV shows was a hero. Wallace Souza gained infamy for his sensational program “Canal Livre,” not only because he was a former cop set on cleaning up the streets, but because his team was always the first to be on the scene to report on the horrific crimes supposedly plaguing the area. They'd arrive so early, in fact, that suspicions turned to Souza himself as the criminal mastermind orchestrating the crimes for viewership.Award-winning documentarian Daniel Bogado joins Crime Story to discuss his docuseries Killer Ratings for an in-depth and human look into the Souza case. You can watch Killer Ratings on Netflix.

When the book, The Salt Path, came out in 2018, it quickly became a blockbuster hit. It's the story of a woman named Raynor Winn and her husband, Moth, who has been diagnosed with a terminal neurological disorder. According to the telling, their decision to walk the Salt Path, a 1000 km trek across the south west coast of England, leads to miraculous healing.Against all odds, the walk appeared to reverse symptoms of Moth's terminal illness. The Salt Path was followed up by more books, and in 2024, a Hollywood movie starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs. But ultimately, the bestselling memoir may be more fiction than fact. Chloe's investigation uncovered a past allegedly riddled with financial deceit, challenging the story of how Raynor and Moth lost their home, and casts doubt on the miraculous reversal of Moth's terminal illness. Her podcast, The Walkers: The Real Salt Path, dramatically unravels the full, unshared details of the couple's journey. This week on Crime Story, Chloe Hadjimatheou unravels the Salt Path. You can hear The Walkers: The Real Salt Path here. You can read Chloe's article here.

— Because this case is still active—and to protect the privacy of the victim—the child's name has not been released by authorities or shared by media outlets. At the center of this case is the death of a 4-month-old baby, an unimaginable loss. She was at a stage of life where she depended entirely on the adults around her for safety, care, and love. However, according to investigators, she was subjected to harm by someone entrusted with protecting her. Out of respect for her, it is important that her story is told carefully—not only as a case, but as a reminder of the responsibility we all share in protecting children, especially those who are too young to defend themselves or ask for help. So I thought to ask your favorite master storytellers how they do their magic to hook YOU. After the first few episodes, it occurred to me that maybe someone listening might be curious how their first page sits with an audience, so I'm opening up Page One to any writer who wants to submit the first page of a book they're currently writing. If your page is chosen, you'll be invited onto the show to read it and get live feedback from one of Page One's master storytellers. Page One exists to inspire, celebrate and promote the work of both well-known and unknown creative talent. From outgrowing textbooks to collaborating across continents. Christian Fischer, Head of English at Gymnasium Schillerschule Hannover, shares how the Global Literature Circle project is transforming how teenagers engage with reading. From digital collaboration using Padlet to fostering student agency, Christian explains how giving learners creative freedom and a global audience can turn reading into a powerful, social experience.Watch with closed captions.TALKING POINTSThe challenge of students who outperform traditional textbooksWhy 'resilience' is the missing key in modern teenage reading habitsHow Global Literature Circles connect classrooms worldwideUsing 'freeze frames' and digital tools for meaningful communicationWhy letting 'good players play' is the secret to engagementABOUTChristian Fischer teaches English and History at Gymnasium Schillerschule Hannover in Germany, which also offers the IB Diploma program. He is the head of the department of English and faces a growing number of students whose English proficiency has outgrown standard ESL textbooks. He is, to quote him, baffled that so many English teachers around the world teach English to students who could, technically, in their respective classrooms go back to speaking their Native language when teachers around the world could connect students to work in English only. That is the main idea behind his project “Global Literature Circle”, in which he connects students from around the world to work on literature through collaborative, creative, and engaging tasks.RESOURCES & REFERENCES

The Biggest Loser was a hit reality TV show that ran across 17 seasons – all with one goal in mind, to help fat people lose weight. But in reality, it was a cruel stop on many contestants' journeys with their bodies and health, all broadcast for millions to see – and comment on. While the show didn't technically do anything illegal, the documentary reveals the show did have victims. Director Skye Borgman joins Crime Story to discuss her series Fit for TV. The 1985 massacre at Whitehouse Farm is one of England's most notorious cases. But did police get it right? Five members of the Bamber family were found dead in their home, alongside the murder weapon and an open Bible. Suspicion quickly turned to the police's star witness and apparent heir to the family fortune, Jeremy Bamber. Today, Bamber has been in prison for over 40 years.Journalist Heidi Blake grew up with this story. She thought she knew it well, until she began her own investigation. This week on Crime Story, Heidi Blake shares the story at the core of her new podcast In the Dark: Blood Relatives from The New Yorker. She tells us how the evidence she uncovered casts doubt on the conviction of one of the U.K.'s longest serving prisoners. You can listen to In the Dark: Blood Relatives here.
