Sports Dad Hub Podcast Episode 21 with Texas high school football coaching legend, Randy Jackson. Coach Jackson is a 30-year coaching veteran. He's won multiple coaching awards, including the Texas 4A Coach of the Year Award in 2010 when he and his staff orchestrated one of the biggest turnarounds in Texas high school football history. He was hired as the football coach at Mesquite Poteet following a 1-19 season. Coach Jackson and his staff took that team to 12-3 the following season. Key To The TurnaroundAfter such a tremendous turnaround, many people asked coach what the key was. Did he install a new and innovative offensive system? Did he create groundbreaking new defensive schemes? Did he recruit a completely different roster of stud players? Nope. It wasn't any of those things. The key was one word... CULTURE. Culture Defeats StrategyCoach Jackson came in and completely rebuilt the culture of their football program. He helped players feel "10 foot tall and bulletproof." He helped them believe in themselves and in each other. He helped them visualize their success before it happened. Insights You Can Apply To Your Life & FamilyThis episode is great for coaches of any sport and sports parents of all sports. How sports parents create a positive culture within their household. How to create a set of core values as a family unit. Culture is key, in the locker room and the boardroom. Texas high school football coach Randy Jackson opens up in this week's episode on team-building and co-creating team culture to create a framework both players and coaches buy into. If a group has common goals and speaks the same language both on the field and off, they are primed for success, even if they don’t always win. The way to build that strong culture lies in having a dialogue with players and staff. People are more likely to want to uphold a structure if they feel they’ve been a part of creating it—if they have a stake in it and know why it is how it is. Just telling players why they should be a certain way falls flat, but if they have skin in the game, loyalty and drive follow not far behind.   Please leave us a review at: https://apple.co/2tMgSzZ Show Notes: http://bit.ly/randyjackson_ced Support the Show: Use code PODCAST to get 15% off your next order in the Compete shop here.

How can you get your players to play aggressive football on Game Day? There's not a magic drill to fix this. https://joedanielfootball.com/membership It might be the biggest frustration I hear from coaches on a consistent basis. “My players just don't play aggressive. They aren't tough. How can we fix it!?” Most coaches are not approaching this question the right way. You've got to address the root of the problem when your players aren't playing aggressive enough. And it's not just throwing your hands up and saying, “Kids these days!” Today's episode is all about the 4 areas you need to address to get ‘more aggressive' play from your football team. And exactly what playing aggressive football really means.   Show Links The podcast on Practice Planning to Keep Your Players Fresh at https://joedanielfootball.com/2018practice/ which includes downloadable practice plan templates.
