Episode 45 begins with Mike and Megan following up on last week's episode, with a discussion on Grandma’s in-law rankings. Mike had planned to interview his Grandma, but was unable to due to a phone bill quagmire that needed attention. Speaking of quagmire, the results may not be what Megan expected to hear. From there the talk ventures into playoff baseball, Yankee teams of yesteryear and an awkward encounter for Megan. Speaking of awkward, Mike still doesn’t have a question to ask Megan, so they go to the jar which allows them to revisit their most memorable dates. Megan goes back to a time where the two weren’t really together, but was most definitely an ideal and memorable date. Afterward, Mike finally does come up with a question which leads to a discussion on dating apps, bad dates and a letter Mike penned that just really wasn’t necessary. Julie Sygiel is a proud feminist and loves to push the envelope. So, when her professor asked the class to come up with a business project that would provide a solution to an everyday problem, she had no problem explaining that creating a "super underwear" that was comfortable, sexy and able to save women from stains and accidents during their monthly periods would be a fantastic problem to solve. So, Dear Kate was born! Years later, Dear Kate is now the purveyor of revolutionary underthings, including undies and yoga pants. In this amazing interview, Julie shares their best strategies for getting tons of traffic to their website - where the majority of their sales are made. She also discusses how to get people to talk about you - good and bad - and how to deal with controversy! http://BizWomenRock.com/203
Julie Sygiel, founder of Dear Kate, steps on to the New York Launch Pod to talk about what Julie calls the "ultimate underwear for women". Dear Kate is a women's apparel and lingerie company that makes functional underwear for women. One day Julie asked herself why no one was making better underwear if every woman has a "horror story during that time of the month". So Julie set out and spent two years developing the now patent pending UNDERLUX technology and Dear Kate was born. Listen to how Dear Kate has grown its sales by 400% in EACH of the past two years and how the company's expansion into activewear started with its underwear-less yoga pants that reached its Kickstarter goal in less than one hour! And find why Julie thinks 2015 is "the year of the period." Manufactured and headquartered in New York City, Dear Kate is driven by the philosophy to do what they think is right. Hear how that philosophy has influenced decisions to use models for who they are and what they do- not simply how they look, naming campaigns after famous women, and offering sizes XXS to 3X in order to be size inclusive.
