On November 29, 2025, 19-year-old Texas A&M student Brianna Aguilera was found dead outside a 17-story apartment building in Austin, Texas. She had been in town for the Texas vs. Texas A&M rivalry game, staying with friends at the 21 Rio apartments near the UT campus. Within days, Austin Police held a rare press conference to announce they were treating her death as a suicide - citing a deleted suicide note found on her phone, text messages indicating suicidal thoughts, and prior statements to friends. They say all evidence points away from foul play. But Brianna's family isn't buying it. Her mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, has publicly accused police of a rushed investigation and believes someone in that apartment is responsible for her daughter's death. She says Brianna was afraid of heights, was actively planning her future, and would never have taken her own life. The family has now retained high-profile attorney Tony Buzbee to pursue their own investigation. The questions are piling up: Why wasn't the mother notified for almost 15 hours? What happened in the two minutes between Brianna's phone call with her boyfriend and the 911 call? Why did none of the three women in the apartment see or hear anything? And what about the witness who says she heard screaming and running that night? Adding another layer to this case: another Texas A&M student, Grant Hernandez, died at the exact same apartment complex in 2019 under strikingly similar circumstances. His death was also ruled a suicide. His father says he never got the answers he wanted.
