The Finale - An Intimate Interview with Katie Krimitsos

Well, my dear...here we are.  At the end.   Today’s episode is the last of the Biz Women Rock podcast.  To celebrate, Chris (my hubs) is interviewing me.   I want to leave you with this… Everything I created for you all these years has been because I have needed it.  The inspiration, the motivation, the organization, the leadership, the cheerleading, the support...I have needed it all.  And I knew that by creating it for you, I would be forced to step into it for myself.  In order to serve you, in order to have a prosperous business, I have had to face limiting beliefs, money blocks, foundational issues of worthiness and not-enoughness and so much more internal shit.  And of course, I’ve had to learn better ways of doing business...better strategies, better organization, better marketing, better leadership.   I am just like you.  A woman doing her best to create her own abundant, meaningful journey.  It’s messy, imperfect and painful. And magical and deeply fulfilling and worth every single second. Thank you for being here with me.  Thank you for trusting me with your time and energy.   I hope we continue to connect on the Women’s Meditation Network podcast...I would be honored to be in your ears through your meditation journey.  Just search for it in the podcast player you’re listening to now. Just know that my intention there is just as powerful as it has been here: to help you see your own inner light...and shine it as bright as you possibly can.

What is really underneath the challenges we have and the walls we hit (hint: it has to do with that little girl inside of us) She shares why empathy is so important in business How she’s teaching her kids what she believes. When I saw Jen Mavros’ video announcing she was leaving her old business behind and stepping into a new business, I obviously could relate.  Jen has been helping entrepreneurs manifest soulfully aligned desires and dreams in life and business for 7 years now as a coach and mentor, speaker and leader.  But a few years ago...she began questioning, feeling and ultimately...listening. Which has led her to an entirely new business, the first iteration of which is called Loving Business Forward. But one thing really struck me in her announcement was that she said that her podcast, The Jen Mavros Show is the one thing that’s coming with her in the transition.   So, I brought Jen on for the Podcasting Series and you’ll get to hear her answer to why her podcast is the only thing coming with her.  We’ll also dive into why she’s going through a transition in business and how scary and exciting that’s been for her. We discuss… Why she “unbranded” herself as a coach How she used - and continues to use - meditation as her biggest tool to get in touch with what’s right for her. What “surrendered flow” means to her and her opinion of “hustle.” What the realities of her money have actually looked like during this transition The breakdown of her next evolution of business (it’s beautiful!) How changing her brand into The Intuitive Women was sooooo much more than just a name change.  That it forced her to step confidently into the brand. The first moment she got a client because of her podcast and what that felt like.  A few ways she’s experimented with her podcast to grow her client base and fill her programs. When Nicole Cruz came to me, it became apparent that she wanted to build a business so she could put herself out of business.   Let me explain.   Nicole is a registered dietician and for 10 years, she’s been seeing clients one on one - mostly young girls and teenagers who have eating disorders or disordered eating and who want to heal their relationship with body and food.   As a mom of three littles and fueled by her desire to help prevent more kids from having such challenges, she started Joyful Eating for Your Family, a brand whose mission it is to help parents teach their kids how to have a healthy relationship with food.   When we began working together, she had just started the private Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/joyfuleatingforyourfamily/) and had an Instagram account. Fast forward, Nicole has solidified her message and stepped into her passionate voice to help families.  Her Facebook Group has over 2,000 members, her Instagram account is followed by over 8,100 people and over 1,200 people have subscribed to her email list.   She’ll release her first book in early 2020, is creating paid-for online workshops/webinars and has plans to build out a signature course...all that will help her serve her community.   During our conversation, Nicole shares… How she’s been able to step into a message that is controversial (at least seen as “going against the grain”) and how she’s dealt with it. What the process of productizing her knowledge through guides, books and webinars has been like. The process her book has gone through...from originally being the first paid product she would offer to it being her sugar manifesto that is branding her as the expert! What negative self-beliefs have come up for her along the way and the mindset shifts she’s had to have in order to keep going. She currently has 13 private clients, an email list of 1000 who have downloaded her free 1 week meal plan, 200 people who have purchased her 1 month meal plan and currently has 13,000 followers on Instagram.  She’s speaking at some big conferences in her industry and will be rolling out her signature program in early 2020.   She is totally on fire! During our interview, Ashley shares… What it was like offering her first paid product! How she completely changed plans after her first paid product was out, choosing to take on private clients instead of building out more products. What it’s been like building a client base Why she started a Facebook Group and how she uses it differently than Instagram Why her “failure” launching her first course is actually a massive success! What she’s done to grow her Instagram following from 5,000 to 13,000 this past year How she’s evolved emotionally, spiritually and professionally this past year! I am ridiculously proud of Ashley and in her story, I hope you hear a little bit of yourself...and my ultimate belief that you can literally do anything you put your mind to...as long as you’re willing to take imperfect action and stay tuned into what you love.

And during that journey, she saw how difficult it was for her to find quality practitioners and resources.   So, she decided to create a solution.   BeginToHeal.com is a platform that allows you, the person who is seeking out holistic practitioners and resources, to easily find ones that Pooja and her team have vetted.  Their website offers a free subscription and a low cost paid subscription ($10/mo) that give you access to resources like nutrition counselors, reiki practitioners, guided meditations, educational courses and so much more so you can heal from the inside out.  During our conversation, Pooja shares about… Her unique challenges in building her business...the extra attention and time she needed to spend figuring out the legal and logistical challenges of her market. What she does to keep her own self-care practice sacred so she doesn’t get back into a space of being burnt out and exhausted.  Her ultimate belief that we all really want to do special things to help others and how she’s doing this through Begin to Heal. “That’s the question entrepreneurs should be asking themselves…’who do I need to be in order for me to be successful?’” Pooja says.   This game of business is done from the inside out...and this conversation with Pooja has so many moments of wisdom that reflect that.   You can check out more about Begin to Heal by visiting their website at http://BeginToHeal.com.  *** BIZ WOMEN ROCK RELATED RESOURCES: Interested in Intuitive Coaching or Reiki?   Our very own Biz Women Rock community member Tina Conroy is ah-may-zing at all of it.  You can check her out by visiting her website here: http://TinaConroy.com.  I’ve hired her for Reiki, readings and Intuitive Coaching and she is worth every penny!  I would highly recommend you book a session with her!   Want meditations created specifically for women?  Listen to the Women’s Meditation Network podcast...an entire library of free guided meditations created just for you.  http://WomensMeditationNetwork.com.  Subscribe on your favorite podcast player today.

Amber Hawley is a licensed couples therapist who has run her group practice Fremont Counseling Services for years now.  She also has an online company called Couples Fix, where she supports ambitious couples who want to thrive in their relationships and their work.   I’m bringing Amber on because she is someone I consider the leading authority on how to manage the ever-evolving and ever-challenging place where business and romantic relationships live.   And it’s not a conversation we talk about very much...how our relationship with our spouse affects our business...and how our business affects our relationship with our spouse.   “Because we need money to live,” Amber states, “we see work as a necessity and our relationships as a luxury.”  And that can lead to many problems.   So, today, Amber and I are discussing… What the #1 problem is that women entrepreneurs face with their spouse The unique experiences that you may experience if you are the entrepreneur and your spouse is not. The very different things you might experience if both you and your spouse are entrepreneurs How creating a MONTHLY MONEY MEETING can be instrumental in giving clarity and support to one another and what exactly should be talked about during those meetings.  Common issues entrepreneurs may face with their spouses, including varying levels of risk tolerance, money management and time management and how to face each of them proactively. Ultimately, Amber shares the foundational concept that showing up and communicating with one another about our desires, needs, expectations and dreams is ultimately the most powerful way to ensure we thrive in both our relationships and our businesses! I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Rochelle Walk (whom we call Shelly) since 2010.  At that time, she had just quit her high level corporate job the Chief Administrative Officer & General Council for a very big company and was in her first phase of starting her own law firm.   Since then, Shelly has gone through multiple phases of her business, constantly building her company into the next phase of growth.   As of the recording of this podcast, Shelly recently merged with Aegis Law, a firm that she hired a headhunter to find so she could implement her succession plan.  This was after 6 years of successfully growing the Walk Law Firm. During this conversation, Shelly shares… Why she hired young attorneys who were right out of law school and why this added so much value to her business. How she made big pivots in her business when things didn’t feel right or weren’t in line with her vision. How she doubled down servicing a very special niche of business, focusing on tech and ecommerce businesses and how that made her incredibly valuable in the marketplace. How she went about establishing herself as a trusted attorney in a city where she wasn’t networked at all!  I could fish where the fish were or I could fish where the fishermen were, she says.  So brilliant! The powerful theme of this conversation is how Shelly has always been very clear about her end game.  And when you’re clear about where you want to go, she says, then you can open yourself up to all the possibilities on how to get there.   You can find out more about Shelly here: www.aegislaw.com.

A New Approach to Getting Things Done

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 29, 2019 17:14

For many, many years now, I have talked about a few foundational practices that I have used to get things done.  To be productive and efficient.   Time blocking, batching, focusing your energy, prioritizing your tasks, etc.   And they’re all really smart strategies and have worked in a nice combination for me over the years.  Until recently.   Blocking out time, dedicating certain times and days for certain activities, batching content creation...none of it’s working for me right now. With an 8 month old baby and a 3 ½ year old daughter, mommying has taken up more of my time than usual.  More times than I can count, my perfectly planned blocked times have been pushed aside to accommodate sick kids, changing schedules or have even been exchanged for “catch up” time for me to chill and recover before I can shift my energy into business.  My ideas to batch content and create 4 podcast episodes at once are thrown out the window because I am exhausted after just one interview or writing just one meditation for the Women’s Meditation Network.  I found myself angry and bitter and consistently beating myself up that things weren’t working the way I wanted them to and that I couldn’t get the things done I needed. So, I had to find another way. And then...I remembered a conversation I had with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes - the author of the foundational Feminist book, Women Who Run With the Wolves.  I happen to run into her at a podcasting conference when I was pregnant with my first and so we spent some time talking about how to make the time to work and raise kids.   She told me, “I wrote that book in 5 minute increments here, 20 minute increments there...any time I could find while I was raising my kids.”   That concept stuck with me all these years and I wanted to bring it to you as a new way to approach getting things done.  If batching content and blocking time aren’t conducive to your lifestyle right now, how can you move things forward in little “bitesize” moments?   For me, it requires TRUSTING that I will get things done, instead of being so rigid on the to-do’s of the day and week.  And also...and this is probably even more important...letting go of the expectation that I’ll get multiple things done at once.   Last night, I had a bit of energy after I put the kids to sleep and so I immediately turned on my computer and wrote a meditation.  It felt so good to get it done. In my old way of doing things, I would tell myself to stay there and write 2 more so I could batch and be efficient.  But you know what? I was exhausted by the time I was done, so I let go of the expectation to do more and just let that bitesize work be enough.   I believe that ALL time management and productivity strategies are wonderful and can work for you at any given season of your life.  Perhaps working in bitesize moments can be helpful for you right now or can be integrated into how you’re moving your business forward! PS: If you’re currently stuck in your business or just not feeling like you’re living into the full potential it has, then I invite you to book a 2 Hour Intensive Strategy Session with me!  In 2 hours, we can get clear about what it is you want and help you focus on the strategies that help you get there. If you’re a podcaster, or want to start a podcast, it will definitely be worth listening to.  But even if you’re not a podcaster and you’re creating content...all of these principles can be adjusted to fit your particular experience.   Money and Marketing are the TWO sexiest topics in podcasting...and in business in general.  So my intention is that these tips will either be a little outside of the box for you, or if you already have heard these concepts, that I will be approaching them from a different angle or getting you to think about them a bit differently than usual.   Ultimately, I want you to walk away from this episode with a desire to focus on JUST ONE of these and commit to trying it out!

The REAL Power of Automation

I’ve been marinating on this topic for a loooong time, my friend.   This conversation is heavily influenced by my friend Cate Stillman’s book Body Thrive (which I highly recommend!).  You can check it out here: https://yogahealer.com/.   This is about more than an email autoresponder series.  This is about managing your energy so you can show up as the best CEO you can be.  I’m talking today about the true power of automating habits and tasks in your business and your life.   Automating habits relinquish your energy from having to worry about certain activities over and over again.  Which then frees up energy for you to do the things you LOVE and that move your business (and your life) forward! Here are 10 things you can automate: Cleaning the house - who’s in charge of what chores?  Kendra Hennessey’s Mother Like a Boss podcast is perfect for getting more efficient with how you run your home! http://www.kendrahennessy.com/  Meal Prepping - spend 1-2 days each week making your food for the week Check out my client Ashley Kitchen’s Instagram for tons of meal prep ideas and resources.  She even has a free 5 Day Meal Planning guide. https://www.instagram.com/stories/plantcenteredprep/ Time blocking - so you know what you’re going to be working on on any given day/time in advance.  If you can, try and automate this as a weekly thing. Example: every Monday from 10-12, you’re going to be writing. Exercise - know when you’re going to do it in advance.  Know exactly what workout you’re going to do or have a program that you’re following.   Childcare - get your reliable childcare set up!  And think about using a babysitting service instead of a single babysitter...that way you’re covered no matter what. Batch your content - podcast episodes, blog posts, social media posts, etc.   Automate emails - create nurture sequences and write emails in batches Repurpose content - create a brilliant piece of content once and put it everywhere else in various forms Choose your clothes in advance for the week - don’t spend any energy figuring out what you’ll be wearing every day Create products and services that people can buy on your website - if you’re a service provider and your time is how you make money, place a small way for you to get paid on your site.  If you have products, make them available for purchase on your site and as many other places as possible.  I hope these have been helpful!  Share how you’ve been automating habits and tasks in your life in our Facebook Group! http://bizwomenrock.com/group

How to Prioritize the REALLY Important Tasks

During this solo episode, I’m going over 3 questions you can ask yourself to determine where your time is best spent in your business! Because when you get REALLY clear about your top priorities, you know exactly how to spend your precious time: on the tasks that move your business forward fast! I recommend writing down ALL THE THINGS you have on your plate...all those tasks and to-do’s that are swirling around in your head.  Then...ask yourself these 3 questions... Do I LOVE doing this? Does it bring me joy?  Does this light me up? Is it profitable? Does it bring money into my business? Is this contributing to the future vision of my company and life?  Is this work that lends itself to the future vision I have of my business? The tasks that have YESES to ALL of these questions are your top priorities.   Now...go get busy blocking out time in your calendar to work on them! The ones that got even 1 NO? Those are the ones you need to de-prioritize.   Take a look at them and decide if you can delegate them, delete them or de-prioritize them.   You’ll hear my beautiful metaphoric example of making my own baby food right now and a big realization I had when I asked myself these 3 questions.   I also refer to Denise Duffield-Thomas’ article she wrote that stated, “cleaning toilets didn’t make me a millionaire.”  I definitely recommend reading the entire article here: https://medium.com/@deniseduffieldthomas/im-a-self-made-millionaire-and-this-is-exactly-how-much-help-i-have-at-home-c15c46d9feee So...what are YOUR answers to these questions?  What are YOUR priorities? ;)

How She Recovered From the Worst Case Scenario and Created a Business She Loves in the Aftermath with Christine McAlister

I often use the strategy with clients called “what’s the worst case scenario?” It’s an exercise for them to play out the absolute worst possible outcome to something they’re considering...to go all the way down that worm hole so they can ultimately see that the worst case scenario actually isn’t that bad.  It powerfully removes fear so they can start taking intentional action. But sometimes in business and in life...the worst case scenario actually happens.  And it actually is horrific and scary.  And changes everything.   Christine McAlister had the worst case scenario happen to her back in 2015.  At that point, she had grown a very successful business and was pregnant with her first baby, Mave.  At 37 weeks, she went in for her routine checkup and was hit with news that would forever change her life.   The worst case scenario had happened...and she...and her business would never be the same.   During our conversation, Christine shares the very personal and touching story about what happened with Mave and what happened to her and her business in the immediate aftermath. She also shares about what her trauma taught her about the business she was running at the time and how she ultimately gave herself permission to transition into something else that made her happier...and chose to invest in herself in order to discover what that was exactly. What she discovered was that she lit up when she helped women entrepreneurs create a business that they truly love, and one that supports the lives they really want to live.  And she does this now as a coach and mentor through her business Life With Passion.  She helps women who want to get out of their 9-5’s and women who have created a new job for themselves in a business they own, but don’t necessarily love, create business that will allow them to thrive. Christine’s advice to anyone who has gone through - or is going through - a hard time?  It’s your choice on how you deal with what happens to you. And I can’t wait for you to hear from Christine, a woman who has truly chosen to live her life with passion. Simple Ways to Get Clear on Your Goals

In January 2019, I did a Facebook Live series inside our private Facebook Community called Plan Your Big 2019.  Over 5 days, I talked about simple steps you could take to do ensure you had your biggest year yet in business.   I’m bringing those videos out of the privacy of our group and onto the podcast for two big reasons:   Because each of these concepts I’ll be going over in the next 5 weeks are truly timeless.  It doesn’t matter what month or year it is...you can easily come back to these steps and get yourself re-focused and moving towards what you want in an intentional and productive way. Because this is typically the time of year when we realize that life has just sorta “happened” over the past few months.  We’re far away from the days when our heads and hearts were in the juice of envisioning what we really wanted to create. Whether we find ourselves a few degrees off of the course we want to be on, completely off track, or maybe even totally clueless as to what the hell we even wanted all those months ago...this will be a universal reminder to reset.   Each of these episodes were made to be quick and actionable...so you can get what you need, put the concepts into action and see results!     Quick little note...because these were done live, I’ll give you the head’s up that you’re gonna hear a little of of “real life” in the background...perhaps a bird chirping a bit, perhaps a little bit of wind as I’m walking...but I did the best I could to make those things as non-distracting as possible, because the concepts are so important! ARE YOU READY FOR STRATEGIC COACHING?   If you realize, as you go through this series of shows that you are farther from your big goals than you want to be...or that you simply want to move more efficiently and effectively - and more joyfully - in the direction you want your business to go, then let’s see how I can help you as a coach and strategist.  I’ve opened up a few new spots for short term private coaching clients and am ready to help you. This could look like a 3 hour intensive to get you unstuck, a power day to get you fully charged to move ahead or even 12 weeks together to really jumpstart you into your vision...whatever it is you need, I’m here for you!  You can fill out a quick application to work with me at http://bizwomenrock.com/workwithkatie    ***   On today’s episode, I’m going over 4 simple ways you can get clear on your GOALS!   Here’s the quick run-down:   Think about what you want your life to look like on a specific date. Think about your holistic life! Writing into the future - create stories around what your life looks like Create the big goals: for all areas of your life Prioritize: get clear on the one thing that is the most important...the one that, if achieved, will make everything else easier or unnecessary. Decide on one thing and make it visible so you can focus on it! You have to know where you’re going so you know how to get there!

8 Productivity Hacks to Speed Up Business Growth with Nicole Carver

I know we hear about productivity so much and how being more productive is how we will ultimately be successful in business. But sometimes, all that lip service about productivity can detach us from what it actually looks like to be productive in your business! That’s why I’m bringing the amazing Nicole Carver on the show today. She’s sharing a total of 8 productivity hacks that she has intentionally implemented over the past year that have helped her grow significantly! Not only is she identifying the hacks, but how they actually look in her business. It’s a true case study for business growth told through the lens of productivity! Nicole is the CEO of Carver Concierge, an agency that provides personal concierge and lifestyle management services to clients such as managing the laundry, household tasks, organizational projects (like moving or Holiday decorating). They entrust Nicole and her team to still get these necessary things done and done well! I’ve had the pleasure of being Nicole’s coach and business strategist for two years now and I’ve seen her grow her business from solopreneur to full-fledged agency that successfully manages a growing number of client needs with the white glove service her brand promises. Here are the productivity hacks she used to get there: Her number one hack she’s implemented every single day that has completely changed how she prioritizes her time and tasks! The 3 tech tools she’s implemented this past year and how they have ultimately saved her and her team TONS of time (but is also very honest about the fact that they took a while to implement!) How a business credit card has helped her with cash flow management in her business and how using her business credit card has streamlined her financial work! 8 Productivity Hacks Nicole identifies: Know your stop time every day Batch your tasks Block out times / days that are meant for certain types of tasks Use a business credit card to manage cash flow, client expenses and make life simpler! Leverage and implement tech tools that make everything easier Delegate Create boundaries to manage others’ expectations Take care of yourself first! At the end of this conversation, Nicole shares a powerful realization that she’s had after implementing all these productivity tools - that systems are self-care, because they allow you the freedom to own your business instead of your business owning you. So powerful! If you’ve been looking for a tangible way to see how committing to being more productive in your business actually looks - and for the results it can truly create for you - then this is the episode for you!

How to Transition into a New Phase of Business with Luann Nigara of Window Works - The Great 8

It’s going to take you all of 5 seconds to fall in love with Luann Nigara.  She’s a brilliant woman entrepreneur who’s been running Window Works, a company that provides custom window and awning treatments, for over 30 years.  In that time, she and her two partners - her husband and her cousin - have grown to 3 locations in New Jersey (and then retracted back into their one hub store), managed a growing team and dealt with just about every entrepreneurial experience along the way.   Back in 2015, Luann launched her podcast, A Well Designed Business, a show where she marries her love of business and interior design and talks to folks in her industry.  And from the podcast, an entirely new business has emerged...private coaching, masterminds and live events.   And even though this type of business model is all new to Luann, her strategy behind all of it is incredibly INTENTIONAL.   During this incredible conversation, Luann and I discuss why she started her podcast as a TRANSITIONAL PLATFORM and how she saw it as the building block into the new phase of their company.   We talk very candidly about how she had to present the podcast business plan to her husband and cousin and start at their base level question of “what is a podcast and how is it going to help us?”  She shares a powerful exercise she did before she launched her podcast that has proven to be monumental in what’s happened since. And we finish by talking about Luann’s two biggest habits that she credits to keeping her in line with her WHY and moving forward successfully all these years! (they both gave me goosebumps!). Dawn Fraser blew my mind on today’s episode and I know you’ll feel the same way after listening.  Because we’re not just talking about “how to be a better speaker” or “how to build a speaking business,” we’re talking about storytelling.  The art of a story...of your story...and how infusing your marketing, your website, your talks and your conversations with YOUR STORY is a seriously powerful way to grow your business. Why?  Because sharing our stories gives us an opportunity to deepen CONNECTION.  And it’s that connection that drives the “know, love and trust” factor through the roof!   And it won’t take you very long to see why Dawn is such a genius at storytelling.  She’s been teaching and coaching others on the power of storytelling for a long time, works with The Moth, has a show and upcoming podcast Barbershop Stories, has given a tremendous TED talk and works with so many entrepreneurs who want to better infuse storytelling into their business so they can have better results. During our conversation, Dawn walks us through the actual elements of a great story (the 5 beats or narrative arc), which will immediately make you think of your favorite movie and how well they followed this formula!  And we also get into being vulnerable...what questions to ask yourself when you know you want to share stories about yourself but don’t quite know if you should or how you should. I even share about a super low moment I had in my business as a great example of how and when to share vulnerably! This episode itself has a beautiful narrative arc to it AND will give you practical steps to start infusing your own story into your business immediately! Being True to Yourself on the Business Journey with Vegan Chef Leslie Durso - The Great 8

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 8, 2019 44:12

After spending a week in Italy with Vegan Chef Leslie Durso, there was no way I could NOT bring her on the podcast!  Leslie describes herself as a “level 5 Vegan,” meaning that she’s intense about all things vegan - no meat, no dairy, no animal byproducts, plant based...the whole package.   But I would expand her description and tell you that she is a Level 5 Human Being. She shows up in her life and in her business so powerfully and gracefully that I wanted to make sure you got the chance to know a bit more about her and her philosophies.   When Leslie started her blog in 2010, she had no credentials.  She was not a trained chef. She was not a nutritionist. She had not gone to culinary school.  But she did have the desire to establish herself as an expert in her field and an insane drive to bring plant based eating to the world.  A few months later, and with the realization that tens of thousands of people were coming to her site, she got serious and creative and started her career as a Vegan Chef.   Now, Leslie partners with the Four Season Hotel, implementing vegan menus, hosting retreats and running their wellness programs.  She runs Vegan Retreats (like the one I just came back from) in her beloved country of Italy. She has a TV show called Accidentally Vegan on the Fab Fit Fun TV Network.  She’s appeared on The Food Network, The Discovery Channel, The Hallmark Channel, Everyday Health and Mother Nature Network and has written for MindBodyGreen, VegNews, CNN.com, Redbook, Glamour and Maxim, just to name a few.   You could say she’s earned a bit of credentials.  ;) But her credentials are not what we talk about.  We talk about how she has stayed true to herself - her ethics, her values and her goals - during her business journey.   We discuss… How she got focused and serious with her blog and how she monetized it through advertising and promotions. How her modeling and acting career lent itself to her current work. Why she decided she didn’t need to go to culinary school and how she instead went on a mission to be mentored by great chefs all around the world. How she leads her life with the belief that she is doing good in the world and showing up to provide value and how she lets that belief system fuel her career. The difference between dreams and goals and how doing the next best thing, just one step at a time has accumulated into a LOT of progress for her! Practices and habits she has to stay grateful for the present moment and her understanding that she is always in the middle of her journey.   In a world where you can literally be anything and do anything, Leslie’s story is a great reminder for each of us to stay true to ourselves on our business journeys, so that we can design the life and business we truly desire! She’s a mom of 3 and full of love. Her 7 figure business was not created overnight, though.  And during this incredible conversation, you’ll hear all about her continuing journey and why it’s been a spiritually motivated one.   We discuss… Why her parents lack of love and her mother’s suicidal thoughts was the impetus for Cathy to seek out why we were put here in this world. How she realized she could create music in her own way without “having to be Beyonce,” which led her to creating music for TV, ads and film. Why each of us is an original and our jobs are to figure out our purpose! How she dealt with the hard blow of a big opportunity that was supposed to “be it” completely dissolving. What she does to make sure she’s listening to herself so she can stay aligned. Ali Brown Says It's Time to Make Your Own Model of Success

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 4, 2019 48:06

If I had to describe Ali Brown in one word, it would be ALIGNED. Aligned in the sense that she deeply knows who she is, what her genius is, how she wants to give her gifts to the world, how to make a profit doing so and completely unapologetic for the woman she is and how she does it all. And...she and I happen to believe the same core message: YOU are the one who gets to decide what success, business and life looks like for YOU.   Ali Brown is one of the world’s most recognized coaches for women entrepreneurs.  She coaches 7 figure and 8 figure business women and does so very strategically and joyfully through her signature coaching program Premier, her VIP Strategy Days and her Workshops. But that’s not what Ali’s business always looked like.  She earned her reputation and built a super successful business early on in the internet marketing days as a provider of online education for how to build a business.  Launches, social media, courses, programs, big live events...that was what life looked like for her. And then...she met her husband Brett and got pregnant with her twins (who are now 5), and everything changed.  She started realizing that the machine she had built wasn’t what really brought her joy. So, she started asking herself serious questions about what her true GENIUS was and what she really wanted her version of success to look like.  And it’s been that transition that has shifted her life and her business into the behemoth “woman on a big mission” that it is now. During this incredible conversation, Ali shares… How to go about uncovering your genius and why doing so will change everything! How to recognize the symptoms of not being aligned and her recommendation on what to do if you find yourself here How she recognized that she stopped leading in her business and was only following and the effect it had on her Her belief that strategically curating the qualified clients and customers you want is so much more effective that giant numbers What her life looks like now and how she is bringing her message to the women who need to hear it in this next phase! Ali is the embodiment of everything I believe and discuss so often on the podcast...that true success, true abundance, true business bliss happens when we stay aligned and plugged into who we are and what our gifts are (instead of looking outside of ourselves for “blueprints” to dictate that for us) and take action accordingly. Brandi Jackson is a side hustler...she works a full time job and is trying her best to create a sustainable business on the side so she can easily transition from that job into the work she’s really passionate about doing: fitness for women.  She’s the owner of Brandi Jackson Wellness and offers 1on1 personal training and group fitness programs in her local area of Oakland, California.     During our LIVE COACHING session, Brandi’s main concern is how she can get more 1on1 clients and more people in her group fitness programs so she can reach sustainability...that wonderful place where she knows she can rely on the income she needs to make the shift out of her job and into her business full time.     So, we naturally identify…   The 7 different offerings that Brandi has and why it’s beneficial for her to focus on the main TWO that already bring in the revenue for her and that she loves the most. Out of the box marketing strategies that could help her get in front of people that don’t already know who she is and what she does!   Ultimately, today’s LIVE COACHING CALL puts a spotlight on getting real with your numbers, your conversion rates and creating PURPOSEFUL MARKETING strategies that actually produce results!   You can check out more about Brandi here → https://brandijacksonwellness.com/   *** The new year is here and I’m sure you’re feeling fired up to make this the best year yet for you! Fiona Hague is like many women entrepreneurs - she’s become so good at a handful of skills - and has earned money throughout the years selling those skills - that she is having a hard time figuring out what will actually make her a profit.  She needs to make a profit now, so it’s go time.   She owns FionaHague.com, where she offers training, strategizing, web design services, social media training, and specialized HR training for Non-Profits.  A slew of services!   She is also the creator of Scottish Business Mums, a community of mompreneurs in Scotland.  Under this banner, she has a Facebook group with over 1,000 women in it, has a paid membership Academy, has educational courses and does a once/month meeting to bring them together.     None of this is making her much money right now.  And that’s what we’re spending this LIVE COACHING CALL to figure out.   During our session, we discuss…   How honing in on her ZONE OF GENIUS (vs. her zone of excellence) will help her see where she can go deeper with the community she really loves serving (this concept is from Gay Hendrick’s book The Big Leap - you can get it on Audible.com HERE → http://www.audibletrial.com/BusinessWomenRock) - psst...this is an affiliate link and I may be compensated if you choose to sign up with Audible through it, at no expense to you.  If you’re not yet a member of Audible, you can get your first book for FREE by signing up!) How Serious Burnout Led to a Thriving Business Helping Others with Eva Vennari

To say that Eva Vennari does “hair analysis” to help you become healthier does a major disservice to the big work she is up to in the world.     Almost 2 decades ago, Eva found herself having major burnout.  I’m not talking about just a day or feeling overwhelmed, but like her entire energy had been zapped for good.  And after a near-death experience on the highway and a realization that her inability to truly be present and conscious in her life was impacting everything, she decided to embark on a journey to feel better...to heal herself.     It took her 15 years of asking questions, implementing a slew of modalities and lifestyle changes to get her to the point that she felt solid...healthy...and...ready to help others who also wanted to live vibrantly.   For 8 years now, Eva has run The Elevate Institute, a program that helps high performing individuals eradicate fatigue, burnout and overwhelm and live healthy, aligned lives.  The initial phase of this work is examining hair samples - which allows her to work with people all over the world - from which she creates a customized healing plan and works with individuals regularly to implement it and see results.     During this incredible conversation, Eva shares…   How she knew that her level of burnout needed to be addressed seriously - the symptoms and the signs (maybe you recognize some of them?) How she realized that speaking in jargon was actually closing people off to the great work she could do for them!  And thus, realizing that communicating RESULTS woud get people’s attention! How she cleverly works with her “competition” to help her scale her services and make more money! How she creates purposeful marketing after she gets super clear on her ideal client! Ways she “walks the walk” and stays joyful, present and healthy in her own life! The Evolution of a Successful Online Business with Katie Hunt

Katie Hunt is the Founder of Tradeshow Camp, a company that provides education and support to women who run product-based businesses.  She started it in 2011 because she herself ran a product-based business and was getting so many people asking her questions about her experience growing it.  So, she began by offering her first online product: a $25 Teleconference where she simply answered all the questions she was being asked.   Fast forward, Katie’s business model consists of Live Conferences (40% of her revenue), online eCourses (50% of her revenue) and private business coaching (10% of her revenue).  She is a phenomenal example of knowing WHO you serve and creating OFFERINGS that are directly in line with offering the solutions your community is searching for!   While I had expected at the beginning of this interview that we would be diving heavy into her courses, the conversation turns into a gorgeous back and forth about how she and her company have evolved and how her offerings have evolved along with those changes!   We talk about…   How knowing your customer intimately is VITAL to not only your marketing, but in dictating the look, feel, longevity and formatting of your programs! How her avatar (ideal customer) has changed over the years and how she’s continued to stay in tune with their ever-changing needs! How she stays connected to herself so she knows what direction she needs to steer her business!  She even tells a very intimate story of how she ended up cancelling a big event because of a litany of signs telling her it wasn’t the right time and what she did to come out of that successfully!   No matter where you are in your business journey, this conversation will be inspirational and practical in giving you ideas and strategies on how to continue to build out a business that is ultimately designed from the inside out, and how to allow yourself the grace to evolve your programs and products to service those you are serving!
