I had the esteemed honor and pleasure of speaking to the very impressive and spectacular Stacey Nelkin who portrayed 'Ellie Grimbridge' in John Carpenter's Halloween III: Season of the Witch. She spoke of her role and how she was excited to act in the movie (even though she is not a fan of horror) but still she performed exceptionally well. She also gave away some behind the scenes secrets of the special effects in her death scene (which was really cool to hear, by the way) and there is nothing better than practical special effects. Currently, Stacey is working as a substance abuse professional and Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) helping those who are suffering from mental illnesses, giving back to the community and exhibiting as a role model. And for that, I have a lot more respect for her. Stacey is also a successful author for the book, "You Can't Afford to Break Up: How an Empty Wallet and a Dirty Mind Can Save Your Relationship" published in 2009. Overall, great interview and make sure to check out her short scene in Scott Goldberg's "The Forest Hills" where she worked alongside the infamous Shelley Duvall, Dee Wallace, and Edward Furlong. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/southjerseyhorror/message

The third “Halloween” film may have taken a stab at horror without Michael Myers, but it introduced us to 3 killer masks, a haunting jingle, and Stacey Nelkin's iconic character — Ellie Grimbridge. Tune in to hear all about making this cult classic, how they filmed all her scenes as a robot, and her thoughts on what actually happened to Ellie at the end.

Bringing an end to our Halloween mini-series which began with Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (or with Halloween: H20, maybe?) we are joined IN PERSON for Episode 28 by the director of the festival-crushing Christmas zombie musical, Anna and the Apocalypse, John McPhail, as we discuss the oft maligned black sheep of the Halloween franchise... His chosen film? Halloween III: Season of the Witch! With Michael Myers dead at the end of Halloween 2, John Carpenter felt that the Myers/Strode storyline had run its course. However, the franchise was believed to still have some steam in it and the decision was reached to press ahead with the third instalment with a view to making a yearly Halloween film, each with a different story. How did this work out? Not well. The film tanked. It was a commercial and critical failure and the decision was reversed. The fans wanted Michael Myers and that's what they got going forward. That said, there's an awful lot to love in Halloween III: Season of the Witch... The synopsis is as follows: Hospital emergency room Dr. Daniel "Dan" Challis and Ellie Grimbridge, the daughter of a murder victim, uncover a terrible plot by small-town mask maker Conal Cochran, a madman who's planning a Halloween mass murder utilizing an ancient Celtic ritual. The ritual involves a boulder stolen from Stonehenge, the use of Silver Shamrock masks and a triggering device contained in a television commercial -- all designed to kill millions of children. Comer and Radulich put Halloween 3 - Season of the Witch, On Trial! Halloween III: Season of the Witch is a 1982 American science fiction horror film and the third installment in the Halloween film series. It is the first film to be written and directed by Tommy Lee Wallace. John Carpenter and Debra Hill, the creators of Halloween, returned as producers. Starring Tom Atkins as Dr. Dan Challis, Stacey Nelkin as Ellie Grimbridge, and Dan O'Herlihy as Conal Cochran, the story focuses on an investigation by Challis and Grimbridge into the activities of Cochran, the mysterious owner of the Silver Shamrock Novelties company, in the week approaching Halloween night. Halloween III is the only entry in the series that does not feature the series antagonist Michael Myers, nor does it include story elements from either Halloween (1978) or Halloween II (1981). In fact, it treats the first film and, apparently, its sequel as fictional films, as one of the characters watches a trailer for the original during the film; additionally, the film's tagline is a reference to the tagline from the original as well. It also departs from the slasher genre which the first two installments were part of, instead featuring a "witchcraft" theme with science fiction aspects and parallels to old Celtic fairy tales. Carpenter and Hill believed that the Halloween series had the potential to branch into an anthology series of horror films that centered around the night of Halloween, with each film containing its own characters, setting, and storyline. Director Wallace stated that there were many ideas for Halloween-themed films, some of which could have potentially created any number of their own sequels, and that Season of the Witch was meant to be the first of the anthology series.
We continue our Halloween series where we look at some of our favorite horror movie sequels this week with a look at the much-maligned third entry in the HALLOWEEN series. SYNOPSIS: Dr. Daniel Challis and Ellie Grimbridge stumble onto a gruesome murder scheme when Ellie’s novelty-salesman father, Harry, is killed while in possession of a strange mask made by the Silver Shamrock mask company. The company’s owner, Conal Cochran, wants to return Halloween to its darker roots using his masks – and his unspeakable scheme would unleash death and destruction across the country. This entry in the series is notorious for not including series mainstay Michael Myers, which may have lead to its reputation as a bad film. But is it misunderstood? We're not discussing this one for redemption, but going for broke and putting it up for entry into the Psychotronic Hall of Fame! let us know if you think it deserves to go in.
