Does your blog stand out from your competition? Does it provide experiences that make prospects want to come back? If your blog is boring, what does that say about your products and services? But if your blog content is engaging, imagine what your target audience will think about them.  Today, we’re talking to Barry feldman, mastermind behind Feldman Creative. In this episode, Barry shares some tips on what to do and not do to create standout content, build an audience, and offer awesome experiences through your content marketing.  Some of the highlights of the show include:  Biggest impediment for content marketing success is tunnel vision, where companies focus explicitly on a blog but nothing more; expectations are unreal Think about the entire content marketing funnel - capturing emails, building a community, and building a relationships; a blog is just a piece of that process Build an audience; create assets that excite people and don’t depend on one channel Barry’s experience with The Article Factory, a cheap content farm; you get what you pay for Barry’s price for articles is higher because he understands SEO, writing, positioning, and conversion; he can help you reach your objectives Blogs should be educational, entertaining, and inspiring; make customers the stars of your stories and showcase in-house/guest writers with opinions High-quality content is so exciting that you want more of it; the purpose of a blog content is to get someone to subscribe to your Website Invest more time and resources to create quality content; bigger is better Successful content marketers position themselves as experts in their field; communicate authority with your posts Content Marketing: Keep trying, roll with the changes, take it seriously; success isn’t instant and you don’t hit a homerun every time Links:  Feldman Creative Books by Barry Feldman The Article Factory How Publishing Crappy Content Ruins Your Rankings The (Sarcastic) Guide to Publishing a Boring Blog Joe Pulizzi Write and send a review to receive a CoSchedule care package

“There’s often some confusion and conflict around personal branding.” It’s true. For whatever reason, some people and companies have trouble with this concept. But in the interconnected digital age, personal interaction and influence matters more and more for brands. Barry Feldman’s new book, The Road to Recognition, provides a handy reference guide for those building new personal brands as well as seasoned personal brands. We discussed all of this and more on this week’s episode of the On Brand podcast. About Barry Feldman Barry Feldman is a copywriter, content marketing strategist, digital marketing consultant, blogger, speaker, and podcaster. Barry is a voice of authority in personal branding, SEO, content marketing, copywriting, and social media marketing. He works with companies big and small all over the globe to plan and create content that matters, guiding clients in their efforts to drive more traffic, leads and sales via their digital marketing efforts. Barry’s “the marketer’s marketer,” providing creative direction to many of the world’s top martech brands, marketing service providers and digital media agencies. Barry publishes regularly on The Point at Feldman Creative and contributes to many of the world’s leading digital marketing publications. Episode Highlights “It can be scary to set your people free,” Barry noted while talking about concerns over personal branding. However, it’s a natural progression. Many had concerns about turning employees loose on social media. In both cases, the reward to the brand can be greater than the risk. It all started with an infographic. As Barry shared, the idea for The Road to Recognition started with an infographic he and co-author Seth Price developed on personal branding (below). However, they organized it in a unique way … The A to Z guide … Both the infographic and the book are organized alphabetically with a table of contents that leads with A is for Authenticity, B is for Blog, C is for Content and so on. Beyond being a handy organizational tool, this also makes the book easy to reference on the go. Need help with video for your personal brand? There’s a chapter on that. Need help with email? They’ve got that too. Who are some of Barry’s favorite personal brands? He mentioned Ann Handley, Michael Brenner, Brian Dean from Backlinko, and Andy Crestodina. I threw in Neil deGrasse Tyson as a favorite of mine for good measure. What brand has made Barry smile recently? Barry pointed us to Dollar Shave Club for their hard copy “Bathroom Minutes” newsletters that they send out with their shipments each month. He also smiles at Amazon for delivering exceptional customer service in spite of the size and scope of the company. To learn more, go to the Feldman Creative site or theroadtorecognition.com. Conversations with Phil Gerbyshak - Aligning your mindset, skill set and tool set for peak performance

When any 2 marketers team up to write a book, it catches my attention. When 2 marketers I have huge respect for write a book, I want to talk to them about how they did it, and what lessons they learned in writing the book, as well as what the book is all about. In this winning business conversation, Seth Price and Barry Feldman talk about their beautiful new book The Road to Recognition.  One of the things (and there are many) that I love about this partnership is these guys don't take themselves too seriously. They call themselves "marketing dorks" which is a silly way of saying "these guys are really passionate about good marketing." They complement each other's strengths well and they share a lot about this book. After you listen to this conversation, you must go get your copy of this book at http://theroadtorecognition.com I have an electronic copy and I love it. It's a gorgeous book to look at, it's easy to read, and it's filled with great stuff you can use to build a powerful brand.  About Seth Price Seth Price is a marketer, motivator, executive, and entrepreneur. Having consulted for more than 300 companies, Seth is recognized as a business builder and digital marketing specialist.
