What if the secret to a happy relationship isn't following the rules, but rewriting them? In this refreshing talk, couples therapist Stephanie R. Yates-Anyabwile explores why letting go of traditional societal expectations of romantic relationships — like sharing the same routines or even, in some cases, living together — can help couples embrace their individuality, reduce conflict and build stronger, more fulfilling connections. This episode originally aired in 2024. Have you ever felt like you are carrying something heavy that you cannot quite explain, something that does not even feel like it started with you? A few years ago I traced my own anxious drive back to grandparents I never met, people who were, in a real sense, being chased by wolves. It turns out a lot of what we call “my issues” was handed to us. And that makes it far more workable than it feels. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Thomas Hübl, the teacher and trauma-integration facilitator who co-wrote the new book Releasing Our Burdens with Dr. Richard Schwartz, the creator of Internal Family Systems. Thomas studies healing as one continuum that runs from the individual to the ancestral to the collective, and he joined me to explain why the thing you keep trying to fix about yourself may not have started with you, and what becomes possible when you stop fighting it and start to thaw it. In This Episode Why the thing you keep trying to fix about yourself may not have started with you, and what that changes The freezer metaphor that explains what trauma quietly costs you every single day Why Thomas calls trauma “a loan from the future,” and how the bill comes due What is really happening when your partner says one thing and your whole body locks up How intergenerational trauma gets passed down, in your nervous system and even in your cells The difference between the resilience you inherited and the burden you inherited Why a whole country can feel stuck and reactive, and what that has to do with your own healing A different definition of healing: not fixing what is broken, but releasing what is frozen This episode is for anyone who has ever looked at their own anxiety, or their drivenness, or that low hum of feeling empty for no reason they can name, and thought, where is this even coming from? If you have done the personal work and still feel like there is a layer underneath you cannot reach, this conversation opens a door. Some of what you carry is not a personal failing. It is inherited. And it can be set down. Most photographers think they need a better portfolio, better clients, better marketing, or a better strategy.Sometimes that's true but often the real question sits somewhere else.Who do you need to become to create the work, the business, and the opportunities you're dreaming of?In this episode, I share a personal story about finding my own mentor for my photography, why even mentors need mentors, and what happened during two recent kick-off sessions with photographers who were ready for their next chapter. We talk about identity, self-leadership, resistance, visibility, and why so many photographers stay stuck despite having talent, ambition, and experience. This episode is an invitation to stop playing small, stop waiting for permission, and start making choices that move you closer to the photographer you want to become. If you're ready for personal guidance and want me in your corner for the next six months, you can find all information about my 1:1 mentoring here. Ever been told you need to hire help ASAP? Same. And while that's usually good advice, nobody warns you about what happens when the person you hired is actually making everything worse. I'm talking about this one today because a friend of mine just went through it. She spent months dealing with a VA who was unreliable, couldn't keep up with recurring tasks, and somehow never connected the dots no matter how many conversations they had. It was costing her more time to manage this person than it would've taken to just do the work herself. And the mental load? That was the real killer. So we're getting into what it looks like when your "help" is actually holding you back, how to know when it's time to cut someone loose, and how to think about hiring the right way so you're not just filling a seat. The sneaky way bad hires eat up more of your time than doing it yourself ever would Why the mental load of managing the wrong person might be costing you more than their salary The real story behind my friend's VA situation (and the moment everything changed) What happened when I hired a full-time VA and why it backfired The difference between needing help and needing the right help A hiring mistake that has nothing to do with someone being bad at their job Why right now is the perfect time to get intentional about who's on your team before Q4 _______ Full Episode Show Notes http://ecommercebadassery.com/380 _______ Learn With Me Work with Me 1:1 https://ecommercebadassery.com/ecommerce-help/ https://ecommercebadassery.com/email-marketing/ Courses & Membership https://ecommercebadassery.com/membership https://ecommercebadassery.com/programs _______ Let's Connect Website: http://ecommercebadassery.com Instagram: http://instagram.com/ecommercebadassery Membership: http://ecommercebadassery.com/membership _______ Rate, Review, & Subscribe Like what you heard? Conflict often gets treated like something to avoid. But in reality, conflict is part of collaboration, decision-making, and working with other people. In this episode, I start with a situation that will feel familiar to many people in food manufacturing and retail. You are sitting in a meeting, you have put time and effort into a project, and suddenly someone challenges your idea. Your heart rate increases. Your mind starts racing. You feel defensive, frustrated, or tempted to shut down completely. These reactions are not signs that you are bad at communication. They are human responses. I explore the Thomas-Kilmann conflict model and the five conflict styles people naturally move towards under pressure: competing, avoiding, accommodating, compromising, and collaborating. The important thing is that none of these styles are right or wrong. They all have strengths and risks. The challenge comes when we rely too heavily on one style and stop adapting to the situation in front of us. I share examples of how each style can show up inside food businesses and the impact they can have on trust, credibility, and relationships. We also explore practical shifts that can help in real-life situations. That might mean asking a question instead of withdrawing when you normally avoid conflict. It could mean holding your position a little longer if you usually accommodate everyone else. Or recognising when pushing harder is actually damaging the conversation. The aim is not to become someone different. It is about becoming more aware of your own patterns and making small adjustments that strengthen relationships and improve outcomes. I also introduce Fearless Influence as a practical way for teams to continue these conversations and better understand how conflict shapes communication and collaboration. If you want stronger conversations, healthier challenge, and more confidence in meetings, this episode is a reminder that conflict does not have to damage relationships. Handled well, it can strengthen them. In my recent conversation with Nir Eyal, a best-selling author and behavioral expert, we delved into the nature of beliefs, underscoring how they are neither facts nor fixed. Nir shared an enlightening perspective on how beliefs can be either limiting or liberating. It's fascinating to learn how our minds can be both our greatest allies and our heaviest burdens when clinging to outdated beliefs. The takeaway? We have the power to rewire our perception and shift those beliefs, treating them as tools rather than truths, which allows us to nurture motivation and reduce suffering. Applying this idea to everyday life, I find it empowering to tackle the "muck"—those sticky areas where we feel stuck—by reassessing my beliefs. It resonates with how I coach women to see their identities dynamically. This is a gentle reminder to all of us: let's hold our identities lightly and focus on who we want to become. In this episode, Amy explores how to transform fear into freedom by sharing five practical strategies. She begins by emphasizing the importance of naming your fear—identifying exactly what you're afraid of, whether it's judgment, being seen, or failure. Next, she encourages listeners to assess whether their fear is protecting them or limiting them, drawing on her experience overcoming financial anxiety when starting her business. She then advocates for calming your nervous system before making decisions, allowing your heart and intuition to guide you rather than your mind. The fourth strategy focuses on taking small, consistent, brave steps toward your goal, building momentum through action rather than waiting for fear to disappear—something Amy demonstrated by studying spirituality before launching her coaching business. Finally, she emphasizes envisioning the freedom that awaits you and using mantras like "Money flows to me easily and effortlessly" to embody that energy. Amy concludes by inviting listeners to reflect on their own fears and share their favorite methods for working through them.

You have ten options on the table. Three of them are interesting. One of them might be the right one. And you have been staring at this list for eight months without choosing anything. Here is something I did not expect to learn after fifteen years of doing career coaching with people in exactly this place: it is almost never the options that are the problem. It is what you are doing while you wait for one of them to feel obviously right. In this episode, I sit down with Megan Rankin, a certified career counselor on my team at Growing Self who holds a master's degree in career development and a clinical therapy background. Megan spends her days with smart, capable people who are objectively successful and quietly miserable, and she joined me to talk about why the work of finding your passion almost always starts by looking backward, not forward. We get into the specific reason a 29-year-old can wake up one morning and not recognize the career they built, the question Megan asks every new client before she lets them touch their resume, and the threshold a person actually has to cross before a career change is the right move instead of a reaction to burnout. In this episode The exact question Megan asks in the first session that surfaces every career pattern a client is going to bring with them Why looking forward at your future is the wrong place to start, and the past-tense exercise that gives people clarity faster than any aptitude test How to tell the difference between a career that is genuinely wrong for you and a career you are unhappy in because of burnout, and why the answer changes everything The 10-year vision exercise Megan walks her clients through, and the specific details to include (where you live, who you live with, what is in your fridge) that make it actually useful Why people in the 28 to 32 age range hit this wall so consistently, and what is structurally happening in a life that creates it The hidden interview skill that comes from doing the inner work first, and why employers respond to it before you finish the sentence What to do when you have 10 options and cannot pick any of them, and the question that collapses the list down to two This episode is for anyone who has built a career that looks good on paper and feels wrong on a Monday morning. The kind of person who has been told they should be grateful, who has worked hard to get where they are, and who is starting to wonder out loud, for the first time, whether the path they have been walking is actually theirs. If you have ten options and cannot pick one, if you have one option and dread it, or if you are in the in-between where nothing is bad enough to leave and nothing is good enough to stay for, this conversation is for you. Can dreams expose the false stories we tell ourselves? This week on The Dream Interpretation Podcast, Michael and Sandy analyze three remarkable dreams that reveal how hidden beliefs shape our reality. Jessica's dreams expose a deep misunderstanding about her own masculine energy. Despite believing she is overbearing and intimidating, her dreams reveal the opposite—and show how self-judgment has distorted her perception of herself. A second dream takes her into a vast Olympic-sized pool where she begins discovering her place in God, her purpose, and the importance of learning through life rather than waiting until she feels "ready." Then Sarah's powerful dream of wolves surrounding her home reveals the emotional reality of feeling unsafe, unsupported, and trapped by life circumstances. As the dream unfolds, it shows how true security comes not from controlling the outside world, but from developing inner strength. This episode explores masculine energy, self-worth, emotional armor, spiritual growth, and the surprising ways dreams expose beliefs that are no longer serving us. Walking is one of the most powerful health tools we have. It improves cardiovascular fitness, boosts mood, sharpens cognition, and can even be a predictor of how well you'll age. But all those benefits depend on something we rarely think about until it starts hurting: our feet. For many of us, walking is so automatic that we never consider the mechanics that make it possible. Yet the way we move, the shoes we wear, and the strength of the muscles in our feet can have a profound impact on how comfortably and efficiently we walk. When something goes wrong at our physical foundation, the effects can ripple upward, leading to pain not just in the feet, but in the knees, hips, and back.My guest today is Dr. Milica McDowell, a physical therapist and the co-author of the new book Walk. Today on the show, Milica explains why walking speed may be a hidden vital sign, what gives you your signature walking style, and how to spot and address injury-inducing inefficiencies in your gait. We then talk about feet: whether you should worry about pronation, how to rehab plantar fasciitis — and no, it's not stretching — the best kind of shoes to wear, and much more.Resources Related to the PodcastAoM Article: Solvitur Ambulando — It Is Solved By WalkingAoM podcast episode with Manoush ZomorodiAoM Article: I Started Taking a Walk Every Morning. The Love, Happiness and Success Podcast With Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby
By the end of the gratitude journal, the breath work, the affirmation in the mirror, you felt worse, not better. You're not failing at positivity. You're using tools that were never designed to do what you're asking them to do. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Deepika Chopra, the clinical health psychologist known as The Optimism Doctor and the author of the new book The Power of Real Optimism. Deepika has spent over a decade studying why optimism is a skill, not a personality trait, and her work has appeared everywhere from the TODAY Show to Forbes to Vogue. She joined me to explain why forced positivity actually makes anxiety worse, and what real, durable optimism looks like when you stop performing it and start practicing it. In this conversation, you'll learn: Why an optimist isn't someone who feels good all the time, and what they're actually doing differently in their head The exact reason 'I am confident' affirmations can deepen self-doubt, and how to phrase them so your brain stops detecting them as a lie The specific moment Deepika's optimism work was tested in the hardest way it could be, and what shifted for her in the middle of it Why scheduling worry time actually reduces anxiety instead of feeding it The ta-da list (yes, ta-da) and why it rewires what your brain pays attention to at the end of the day The one mental shift that moves you from rumination to agency when nothing about your circumstances has changed What modeling real optimism for the people who love you actually looks like, especially if those people are your kids This episode is for anyone who has tried to think their way into feeling better and quietly felt like a fraud doing it. If you've ever closed a self-help book and felt worse, if you've ever heard someone say 'good vibes only' and wanted to throw something, if you're currently navigating something genuinely hard and tired of being told to look on the bright side, this conversation will give you something more honest, and more useful, than any of that. This week, we are talking about something that I genuinely think is shaping our careers, our creativity, our relationships, and our confidence more than we realise, which is the fear of being cringe. I did a bonus episode on this over a year ago now and it got such a huge response, and since then I've come to genuinely think the main thing that holds most people back is not lack of talent, not lack of ideas, not even lack of discipline. It's fear of what other people think. So this episode is basically me unpacking all of that, the psychology behind why we care so much about what people think, why we massively overestimate how much people are paying attention to us, and the practical things that have genuinely helped me stop letting fear of perception make my decisions for me. +CHAPTERS0:00: Intro 1:34: The Context 7:29: Step One: Shrinking the audience 14:38: Step Two: Redefining the evidence 17:01: Step Three: Putting it into practice 19:12: Looking back +SIGN UP TO THE WORKING HARD NEWSLETTER: https://graceb.myflodesk.com/k0sfhlac34+SOPHIE TEA'S EPISODE: https://youtu.be/o-G4jPyLNWA?si=E_X7Dq-I18o4Zx2j EMMA'S EPISODE: https://youtu.be/mPn1JFfwfSE?si=5ZTOxFZM5LIFfmKK+FOLLOW THE PODCASTInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/workinghardpod/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@workinghardpodcast+DILEMMA SUBMISSIONIf you'd like to submit any dilemmas to the podcast to be answered in the bonus episodes, please send them to podcast@grace-beverley.com with the subject beginning DILEMMAS or DM us @workinghardpod on Instagram!+MY LINKS: https://gracebeverley.komi.io/+RETROGRADE, SHREDDY, TALA and THE PRODUCTIVITY METHOD are my own businesses, therefore any mention of them - whilst not being a sponsorship - is monetarily endorsed. Why Your Excuses Are Holding You Back What if the biggest thing standing between you and success isn't your circumstances, your competition, or your limitations... but the excuses you've accepted as truth? In this episode of Deep Leadership, I sit down with Patrick Engasser, bestselling author, business coach, motivational speaker, and former top-performing sales leader. Patrick has been blind since birth, yet he built a remarkable career leading sales teams, coaching entrepreneurs, and helping leaders achieve extraordinary results. Patrick shares how he transformed what many would see as a limitation into a competitive advantage, why mindset always comes before strategy, and how leaders can stop letting obstacles define their future. We also discuss the power of relationships, the importance of leading by example, and why people follow leaders who do hard things when no one is watching. If you've ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or limited by your circumstances, this conversation will challenge the way you think about adversity and inspire you to take action. In this episode, you'll learn: • How to turn your biggest challenge into your greatest advantage• Why mindset must change before results can change• The hidden cost of excuses in leadership and life• How great leaders build trust through relationships• Why people follow actions, not words• Practical habits that help high performers stay focused and resilient• How to lead yourself before leading others Patrick's story is a powerful reminder that our limitations rarely determine our future. Small habits rarely look dangerous while they're happening.Scrolling too long. Procrastinating on one important conversation. Putting off one decision another day. Staying around people who drain your focus and ambition.None of it feels massive in the moment. Then six months pass. A year passes. Nothing changes financially. Nothing changes professionally. Frustration starts building, but the routines stay the same. This episode takes a serious look at the daily habits that quietly keep people stuck and why changing your future usually starts with changing your regular Tuesday afternoon.Your life eventually starts resembling your routines whether you intended that or not.
There are a lot of misconceptions around back pain, but I feel this must be one of the most powerful ones. Understanding plays a huge role in recovery. Sometimes the hardest part is not the work itself. It is the waiting... Waiting for the shift. Waiting to feel better. Waiting for your body, your emotions, or your life to finally change. And when you have been hoping, trying, and expecting things to move forward—but they still have not—it can feel confusing and discouraging. In this powerful episode, Brandy shares a deeper look at how hidden subconscious programming can quietly shape a person's emotions, health, relationships, and ability to move forward. Brandy explores how simple childhood experiences, cultural patterns, and even nursery rhymes can create subconscious associations with fear, injury, illness, love, attention, or connection. And when these links remain unaddressed, they can quietly contribute to heaviness, stress, anxiety, emotional triggers, or feeling stuck. This episode is not about blame or endlessly digging through trauma. It is about becoming more aware of what may be stored in the subconscious mind so you can begin to clear what no longer serves you—and experience more lightness, freedom, joy, and empowerment. If you have ever felt like you are waiting for the breakthrough you have been hoping for, this episode may help you see what could be happening beneath the surface—and why identifying hidden subconscious patterns can feel so freeing. Do you want to see proof of the power of the mind in a medical journal? Here's a demonstration of Brandy Gillmore working with volunteers under medical equipment, as featured in a medical journal. So many coaches spend time looking for the next certification, strategy, or breakthrough while completely overlooking the things already getting in the way of their coaching. Sometimes the biggest obstacles are not a lack of talent or potential, but the thoughts, habits, and pressures we carry into our work. In this episode, I talk about some of the most common things I see standing between coaches and their best possible coaching. From overtraining and comparison to rushing clients and questioning yourself, I break down the patterns that can quietly interfere with the way you show up as a coach. With host retail coach Wendy Batten https://wendybatten.com/podcast-intro/ Episode Overview In this episode of the Creative Shop Talk Podcast, I'm sharing seven common patterns I see repeatedly with independent retailers who are working hard but still feeling stuck. These are habits, mindset patterns, and blind spots that can keep us from reaching the goals we truly want. As I was making this list from conversations with clients, I realized I've experienced every one of these things myself throughout my years in business. Some of the highlights: vague goals, overthinking, avoiding difficult conversations, staying attached to old identities, and the importance of tracking numbers and reviewing what's actually happening in our businesses. My hope is that this episode helps you notice where you may be holding yourself back without even realizing it. If you've been feeling like you're capable of more but can't quite identify what's standing in the way, I hope this episode is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and start getting honest about what needs to change. Our Key Topics Why vague goals make it difficult to create meaningful progress The impact of overthinking and analysis paralysis Trying to build a business without support or mentorship and why that's a bad idea Why you need to stop avoiding uncomfortable conversations, tasks, or realities The importance of regular business and self check-ins Why tracking numbers and data matters for decision making Moving from staying comfortable to stepping into leadership 7 Things That May Be Holding You Back in Your Retail Business You are setting vague goals. Are you being clear or specific about what you actually want to achieve? You are overthinking the how. Getting stuck in analysis paralysis instead of taking the next small step. Remember, done is better than perfect. You are trying to do it alone. Do not allow yourself to avoid support, delegation, coaching, or bringing in help. You are living in an old identity. Are you staying attached to an earlier version of yourself or your role in the business instead of evolving into leadership that no longer serves you, your business, or your customers? As your business evolves, so does your role as CEO. You are ostriching or committing emotional avoidance. Are you avoiding uncomfortable conversations, tasks, truths (i.e. your numbers), or decisions? Sit down for 10 quiet minutes and be honest with yourself about what you are avoiding. "If you knew the answer, what would it be?" You are not doing business and self check-ins. Moving week to week without reflecting, reviewing, or paying attention to what's working and what isn't can cause huge issues in your business. You are not tracking anything. Are you avoiding numbers, metrics, and data that help you understand what's really happening in the business? I hope this episode gives you a few honest places to reflect and helps you move toward the kind of business and life you truly want. So many people think they're stuck because they need a better strategy, more discipline, or more motivation. But what if the real thing holding you back…is that your nervous system doesn't actually feel safe with the life, success, visibility, peace, or abundance you say you want? Because your patterns, limiting beliefs, and self-sabotage behaviors don't just live in your mind—they live in your body. And until your nervous system feels safe enough to hold something different, you'll keep unconsciously returning to what feels familiar…even if it's exhausting you. In today's episode, we're diving into the connection between nervous system regulation, identity, and lasting transformation—and why awareness alone isn't enough to create real change. In this episode I am joined by Jenna Overbaugh, LPC, who is an expert in helping people with anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). She is also a runner & mom! In this episode, Jenna discusses how anxiety works, how OCD is misdiagnosed and why this is important, how mental compulsions and rumination keep you stuck, and exactly what to do to break these patterns. We discuss the overlap between anxiety, OCD, and eating disorders/disordered eating and how these challenges affect endurance athletes. We discuss how to actually get better rather than just adding another coping mechanism to your long list of “self care” tactics like breathing, meditation, avoiding triggers, and why these things aren't helping you. You've got the savings, the spreadsheet, maybe even the perfect retirement date circled on your calendar, so what's actually holding you back? If your book sales have you questioning everything, the problem might not be your book—it might be the benchmark you're using. In this episode, we're dismantling one of the biggest misconceptions in publishing: what “normal” book sales actually look like. Because once you understand how few copies most books sell—even from traditional publishers—it completely reframes the narrative around success, failure, and what's realistically achievable. We also take a hard look at the numbers authors throw around online. Big sales claims rarely come with context, and without understanding the costs behind them—ads, discounts, royalties, and margins—you can end up chasing results that look impressive but don't actually translate into profit. Visibility is not the same as viability, and we break down why that distinction matters. From there, we get into what's really happening behind the scenes. Book sales data is often incomplete, especially when it comes to ebooks and indie platforms, which means many authors are comparing themselves against numbers that don't tell the full story. That comparison spiral? It's built on shaky data.We also tackle one of the most persistent (and damaging) myths in publishing: the idea that a publisher will handle your marketing. In reality, most authors—traditional or indie—are responsible for building their own visibility. The authors who gain traction are the ones who treat their book like a business: they think long-term, build a reader funnel, invest in their backlist, and focus on creating consistent, compounding momentum. This episode is a reset. Not a discouraging one—a clarifying one.Because when you understand how this industry actually works, you stop chasing unrealistic outcomes and start building a strategy that has a real chance of working. If you've ever felt behind, discouraged, or unsure what “good” even looks like anymore, this is the perspective shift you need.Send us your feedback!Help shape our 2026 content by taking our 30-second listener poll!
The Love, Happiness and Success Podcast With Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby
Have you ever lost a whole afternoon to a conversation that ended three days ago? Picking it apart, wondering what the other person actually meant, mentally rehearsing what you should have said. There is a name for what your brain is doing. It is called rumination, and according to research from Yale, it is the single most damaging mental habit science can measure. In this episode, I sit down with Donna Jackson Nakazawa, the science journalist who has spent decades translating cutting-edge neuroscience into language regular humans can actually use. Her new book Mind Drama (out this week) is the most useful explanation I have read of what is actually happening in your brain when you cannot stop replaying a conversation, and what the science says you can do about it. Donna and I get into the survival biology behind your overthinking, the unexpected link between early relationships and adult thought patterns, and her real-time interruption tool. She walks me through it live, with my own ruminative mind as the example. It got pretty real. In This Episode The four-step framework Donna walked me through live, in real time, while I was actually overthinking something (it interrupts a spiral in under a minute) Why your brain creates these loops in the first place, and the evolutionary reason it cannot just stop on command The hidden link between your earliest relationships and the thought patterns you carry into adulthood The word for what you have been calling overthinking, and why nearly a third of adults have never heard it How rumination shows up at work, and the moment I realized I was doing it about my own business while we were recording The Yale research that names rumination as the biggest single predictor of depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and even cognitive decline What science says does not work for overthinking (and why willpower keeps failing you) The reframe that changes everything: your rumination is a signal fire from your past, not a character flaw Why This Matters This episode is for anyone who has ever lost a whole day to a conversation that already happened. The smart, accomplished, self-aware woman who has read every book about mindset and still finds herself staring at the ceiling at 2 AM. The friend who knows logically that the email did not mean what she thinks it means, and who is on her seventh draft of a reply anyway. If you have ever caught yourself in a loop and thought, what is wrong with me, this conversation will start to answer that question. Spoiler: nothing is wrong with you. Ignoring your marketing might feel easier in the moment, but it's one of the fastest ways to lose opportunities without even realizing it. In this episode, you will learn about the hidden cost of avoidance and why outdated or inconsistent marketing can actively work against your business. Through real examples and clear data, this conversation reframes marketing as a responsibility, rather than an optional task. Because whether you're actively showing up or not, your audience is still forming opinions based on what they find. And in today's landscape, social media is often the first place they look. This episode also challenges the belief that doing nothing is neutral. It's a decision that shapes how your brand is perceived, who reaches out, and who walks away. Instead, Emma introduces a more powerful mindset, one rooted in ownership, clarity, and intentional visibility. If your marketing has felt inconsistent, overwhelming, or easy to push aside, this episode will help you rethink your role, take back control, and start showing up in a way that actually supports your growth. Listen in as Emma explains: Why ignoring your marketing actively damages brand perception and client acquisition How outdated social media creates confusion and drives away ideal clients Why social media is now the primary first impression for most brands And so much more! In this episode of Life Happens, Barb and Michelle sit down with Alex Elle to unpack what it really means to outgrow people, rebuild trust, and tell the truth in your relationships before resentment takes over. Sitting on the edge of the pool before my Ironman 70.3 swim time trial, I felt every excuse in the book flood my mind — and I had to make a choice: jump in or talk myself out of it forever. In this episode, I break down exactly what happens in your head when you've been away from something important, and how to shut those voices down before they cost you everything. If you know you've been putting something off, this one is for you. Key Takeaways The longer you think about doing something hard, the less likely you are to actually do it — so stop thinking and just jump in. Interrupting your negative thought pattern by literally telling yourself to stop can break the downward spiral before it takes over. Accepting your current baseline — no matter how far back you feel — is the only way to move forward with clarity and focus. The voices telling you that you're tired, slow, or behind will quit if you outlast them — they want comfort more than you do. Starting over is not starting from zero. Your experience, wisdom, and insight don't disappear just because you took a break. Action Steps The next time you catch yourself spiraling into excuses, say your own name out loud and tell yourself to stop — interrupt the pattern before it takes root. Write down your honest current baseline in the area of your life you've been avoiding, and commit to working from where you are, not where you wish you were. Do the one thing you've been putting off today without testing the water first — no toe-dipping, no second-guessing, just jump in and let momentum do its work. Notable Quote The voices that want you to quit will themselves quit — if you can just keep going long enough to outlast them.

In this episode, I remind you that your belief patterns shape your reality. What you do, say, think, feel, and believe every day matters. I talk about why it's never too late to change, why your identity matters, and why waiting for the perfect moment keeps you stuck. Progress comes from doing what you can do now and next—not from trying to be perfect. I also share how alignment, action, and adjustment help you stay connected to your potential. When you stop focusing on limitations and start focusing on lessons, growth, and possibilities, you put yourself in a position for more than enough. Want to be mentally stronger today? Buy The Mental Strength Playbook. Take a quick look around your home. How many piles of mail are sitting on the counter? How many clothes are in your closet that you haven't worn in two years? How much stuff is shoved in the garage, the spare room, or the storage unit you're still paying $200 a month for? Most of us are drowning in stuff, and it's costing us more than we realize. The research is clear that clutter drains your energy, fragments your attention, and quietly raises your stress levels every single day. But it doesn't stop there. Clutter eats up your weekends, strains your relationships, and keeps you tethered to a version of yourself you've already outgrown. And the worst part is that buying more bins or spending another Saturday cleaning rarely fixes it. My guest today is Faith Roberson, an organizing expert and author of What Stays and What Goes. She believes clutter isn't actually a discipline problem at all. It's an emotional one. And once you understand what's really keeping you stuck, letting go gets a whole lot easier. Some of the things we discuss are: Why clutter is almost never about laziness or discipline (and what it actually is) The "emotional tagging" exercise that reveals what your stuff is really doing to you How holding on to old belongings keeps you stuck in an identity you've outgrown Why "does it spark joy?" isn't enough, and the better question to ask The myth that selling your stuff is worth the time it takes How to handle sentimental items without feeling like you're betraying someone you love The three types of boundaries that determine whether your home actually feels like home Why your stuff is probably worth a lot less than you think (and why that's good news) The simple question to ask before keeping anything: can I actually care for this? What if you're not actually afraid to start… but afraid of what might happen if you do? What if the hesitation you've been calling “wisdom” is really fear in disguise? In today's episode, we're uncovering what's really holding you back from starting the business God has placed on your heart. Because for so many women, it's not a lack of ideas, discipline, or even desire... It's the fear of failure... subtle, convincing, and often masked as being “wise” or “waiting on God.” But let's be honest…Are you truly waiting on God? Or are you waiting for a guarantee? A guarantee that it will work. That you won't fail. That you heard Him right. Because the real fear isn't starting, it's facing the possibility that it might not go the way you hoped. And that's the part no one talks about. In this episode, we're gently exposing the patterns, thoughts, and beliefs that keep you stuck in hesitation, overthinking, and delay. You'll begin to see that what feels like caution may actually be the very thing keeping you from your calling. But we're not stopping there. I'm also walking you through how to move forward with the fear... not after it's gone. Because courage isn't the absence of fear, it's obedience in the middle of it. And make sure you stay until the end, because I'm giving you a simple 3-step reset to help you break free from paralysis, quiet the noise, and finally take aligned action. You don't need a guarantee. You need trust. And when you choose obedience over fear, everything begins to shift. I pray this blesses you! Been building and building… but the fruit just isn't coming? It might not be your effort. It might be your blueprint. I'm hosting a free live workshop on May 13th called Build a Business God's Way, and I'm walking you through the exact Kingdom blueprint God gave me to build a multi-seven figure business — with no social media, no DMs, and no strategies that cost you your peace or your family. In one hour, you'll get clear on your calling, your person, and your message — and learn how to turn it into consistent income without the pressure, the hustle, or the burnout.
