Tom Nagar: Is Your Business Structure Helping You Grow or Holding You Back?

What if the way you've structured your business to save taxes or protect your assets today is actually making it harder to get funded, grow, or build wealth tomorrow?  As business owners we may find ourselves thinking about about entity structure, taxes, business credit, funding, and asset protection as separate decisions. The reality is that these pieces are deeply connected—and the decisions we make early on can either create opportunities for us later or limit them.  Today we're going to talk about how to build a business structure that not only protects what we're building, but also supports growth, improves our ability to access capital, and helps turn our business success into lasting wealth.  Joining us is Tom Nagar, founder of U.S. Corporate Solutions. With more than two decades of experience helping entrepreneurs structure, grow, and protect their businesses, Tom has guided business owners and investors across the country through the complexities of entity structure, business credit, tax strategy, and asset protection.  During the show we discuss: Why your business structure matters before you start generating revenue. How to choose the right entity structure for your goals. Why an LLC and an S-corp or C-corp are not separate entity types. How LLCs can be taxed in different ways. How to evaluate whether your current entity is structured correctly. Why your business goals should influence your tax election. How to think about asset protection and privacy when choosing a state. Why business structure should be reviewed as your circumstances change. Resources: https://uscorpsolutions.com/

What if you could stop believing every thought your brain gives you?   In this Turquoise Talk episode, Martine Cohen and I discuss what happens when we learn to separate ourselves from our thoughts, emotions, fear, and old patterns.   Martine shares the powerful story of how a life-changing accident forced her to look inward and ultimately led her to discover a new way of understanding the brain, self-trust, and personal transformation.   We talk about perfectionism, mom guilt, fear, entrepreneurship, self-care, and how turning fear into curiosity can help you move forward without constantly fighting yourself.   You'll walk away with practical ways to question your thoughts, create more emotional safety, and let your brain be your assistant rather than your decision-maker. If you're ready to trust yourself more and create a life that feels more aligned, I think this conversation will give you a lot to think about.   Connect with Martine Website: https://martinecohen.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/martinecohen_

Protein Isn't Optional… It's Required“The Most Important Nutrient You're Probably Undereating (And Why It's Holding You Back)”Protein, protein, protein…You hear it everywhere. But here's the problem…Most people have no idea why it matters on a metabolic level. They just know they're “supposed” to eat more of it.And when you don't understand the why…You don't follow through consistently. That changes today. This episode breaks down what protein actually does inside your body…And why not getting enough is quietly sabotaging your energy, your metabolism, your recovery, and your results. This isn't about eating more chicken. This is about understanding how your body works… so you can finally start working with it instead of against it.Protein is not just another macronutrient. It's the raw material your body uses to build and repair:Muscle tissueHormonesEnzymesNeurotransmittersImmune functionNo protein… no optimal function. When protein intake is where it needs to be:You preserve and build lean muscleYour metabolism stays higherBlood sugar stabilizesCravings decreaseYou stay fuller longerRecovery improvesBrain function and mood improveThis is why people who prioritize protein tend to feel better, look better, and perform better. When protein is low:You lose muscle instead of preserving itYour metabolism slows downHunger and cravings increaseEnergy becomes inconsistentFat loss stallsRecovery suffersYour body becomes under-suppliedYou can be “eating less” and still getting worse results. That's the trap.Protein tells your body:Hold onto muscle. Burn fat. Stay strong.Low protein tells your body:Break down muscle. Conserve energy. Slow things down. That's not opinion. That's physiology.A simple, effective starting point:Aim for about your body weight in grams of protein per day.If that feels like a big jump…Start where you are and build up.Progress over perfection. This is where most people fail. Not knowledge… execution.Simple rules:Build every meal around proteinDon't wait until dinner to “catch up”Plan your protein ahead of timeUse shakes or supplements if neededIf you don't plan it… you won't hit it.The person who gets results…Doesn't guess with protein. They prioritize it.They don't “try” to hit their number. They make it non-negotiable.Protein isn't a trend. It's a requirement. If you want energy, fat loss, strength, recovery, and a metabolism that works for you…This is one of the simplest and most powerful shifts you can make.Set your daily protein target.Start building your meals around it.And prove to yourself that you're not the person who leaves results up to chance anymore. If this episode helped you…Share it with someone who's been “trying everything” but still not seeing results.Because this might be the piece they're missing. And remember:You don't get healthy because you lost weight. You lose weight because you got healthy.

Kill Superman: Why Your Kryptonite Is Holding You Back

There was a season where I was saying yes to everything, building momentum for my book Wintality, showing up everywhere, and burning myself completely out. I had to do something I call killing Superman, not literally, but retiring the people-pleaser, the fear-of-missing-out version of myself that was destroying my future while trying to help everyone else's. In this episode, I walk through exactly how identifying your personal kryptonite is the first move toward operating at the level you are actually capable of. The lesson is uncomfortable, but if you go down, everyone depending on you goes down too. Key Takeaways Saying yes to everything feels productive but is one of the fastest ways to deplete yourself and derail your own dreams. Everyone has a kryptonite. You must define yours specifically before you can consciously fight it. The higher you go in life, the more powerful your nos become. Strategic nos create space to find the yes that is actually for you. Putting yourself last while helping everyone else is a form of self-hypocrisy that has to be called out and corrected. You do not have to master this overnight. Keeping your kryptonite on the forefront of your mind and pausing before reacting is how progress starts. Action Steps Write down the one pattern or word that consistently derails your focus and energy. Name your kryptonite specifically so you can recognize it in real time. Block time on your calendar this week for yourself with the same commitment you give to client meetings or social obligations. The next time you are about to say yes to a request, pause for 24 hours before responding. Let it breathe before you commit. Notable Quote The more things you say no to, the more time you have to evaluate opportunities and find the yes that is actually for you.

We've all said it before."That's just the way I am."Sometimes it's a way of describing ourselves. Other times, it's a way of avoiding a deeper question. In this episode, I invite you to become curious about the habits, reactions, and behaviors you've accepted as permanent.Instead of criticizing yourself or becoming defensive, what if you simply asked why? Why do I respond this way? Where did this habit come from? Is this still serving the person I want to become? We'll explore how curiosity creates opportunities for growth, why self-awareness is more productive than self-judgment, and how even small shifts in the way we respond can change our relationships, our confidence, and the way we experience everyday life.Growth doesn't begin by becoming someone else. It begins by understanding yourself a little better. In this episode, I discuss:• Why "that's just the way I am" can become an excuse that keeps us from growing.• The difference between approaching yourself with curiosity versus self-criticism.• How understanding your habits and reactions can lead to meaningful change.• Why small adjustments in your responses can improve your interactions with others.• How choosing who you want to become is more powerful than accepting who you've always been.Sign Up for the Journal PromptsIf you'd like to continue these conversations through personal reflection, sign up for my weekday Journal Prompts. In this episode, Tara sits down with New York Times bestselling author Nir Eyal for an eye-opening conversation on mastering focus, shifting limiting mindsets, and reclaiming control over daily attention. Nir pulls back the curtain on the real root causes of distraction, debunking the common myth that technology alone is to blame. Instead, he reveals that an astonishing 90% of phone checks happen without a single notification, driven instead by "internal triggers," fleeting moments of emotional discomfort, boredom, or anxiety. Nir shares an actionable four-step framework to manage these internal feelings, break the cycle of procrastination, and rewrite the internal narratives that hold them back from living intentionally. The discussion also dives deep into the incredible power of the mind, highlighting the research behind his work in his new book Beyond Belief: The Science-Backed Way to Stop Limiting Yourself and Achieve Extraordinary Results, including the mind-bending story of a patient undergoing surgery without anesthesia through the power of hypnotic belief. Nir unpacks how beliefs function as tools rather than absolute truths, introducing powerful reframing techniques like Byron Katie's four questions to dismantle self-sabotaging thoughts. Nir emphasizes the importance of moving past parental hypocrisy, modeling healthy device habits, and leading with purpose and love to build a deeply connected, resilient family. For parents or anyone feeling stuck, the episode offers crucial, practical strategies to stop limiting beliefs from holding them back. She explains how the pandemic led to a huge increase in at-home and remote working, and looks at how many people have now returned to in-person work. She also discusses the impact working from home has on productivity, how it affects the social nature of working life, and the ways it can slow someone's effort to climb the career ladder. If you're a high-achieving woman, you've probably had this thought before: "I just need to do more." More cardio. Less food. More work. More discipline. More hustle. But what if doing more isn't the answer? What if the next level of growth requires wisdom instead of more effort? In this episode, we're talking about one of the biggest lessons bodybuilding—and life—has taught me: discipline isn't about doing the most. It's about doing what the season requires. Sometimes the most disciplined decision is to push. Sometimes it's to recover. The key is learning the difference. In this episode, we discuss: Why high-achieving women often equate "doing more" with being disciplined The difference between stewardship and self-punishment Why muscle is built during recovery—not just during training How to recognize when your body, mind, or season is asking for consistency instead of more effort Why emotional decisions often lead to burnout The importance of trusting the process when results aren't immediately visible What Scripture teaches about seasons, patience, and faithful stewardship How wisdom helps you know when to push and when to recover ***Your Action Step This Week*** Before adding more to your plate, ask yourself: What does this season actually require of me? Then ask: Do I need more effort...or more trust? Do I need to push...or do I need to recover? Am I making this decision from wisdom...or from fear? Choose the response that aligns with the woman God is calling you to become—not the one your emotions are demanding in the moment. --Ready to Build a Strong Body and an Even Stronger Mindset? In this episode of the Monday Morning Mojo Podcast, Anna Gibbs sits down with Annie Yatch, a former counter-terrorism analyst turned elite performance coach, for a fascinating conversation about the internal patterns that can quietly influence the way successful leaders think, make decisions, lead their teams, and pursue their next level of growth. Together, Anna and Annie explore why high performers can reach impressive levels of success while still operating from old patterns they may not even recognize, why constantly feeling urgency can change the way you lead, and what becomes possible when you stop allowing survival mode to run the show. Inside this episode, you'll discover: Why the patterns that helped you become successful may eventually limit your growth What may really be happening when you feel constantly busy, reactive, or unable to fully switch off What you can gain when you stop treating stress as a requirement for success. How to use self-reflection as a strategy to reach your next level If you've accomplished a lot but have a sense that there is another level of growth available to you, this conversation may challenge you to look beyond what you're doing and start asking what is driving the way you're doing it. You control more than you think. Giselle Ugarte shares why you're more powerful than you realize and how to stop giving your power away to other people's opinions.Giselle Ugarte, performance coach, international speaker, and executive coach, joins Jaime Taets for a candid conversation about control, confidence, authenticity, and the pressure of other people's expectations. After leaving college without a plan, Giselle reinvented herself multiple times before launching her own business during the pandemic. She opens up about difficult seasons involving mental health, illness, and identity — and how those experiences taught her to take responsibility for what she can control. She also shares a powerful mindset shift: "Respectfully, you are not my audience." Not everyone who loves you or has an opinion about your choices is qualified to advise you on where you're going next.Jaime and Giselle discuss how to filter outside opinions, ask for the support you need, and build a circle that helps you grow. They explore why authentic connection requires someone to go first, how vulnerability creates a ripple effect, and why success is ultimately about using what you've been given to make a positive impact on others.Timestamped Chapters0:00 Introduction to Giselle Ugarte3:05 From TV Host to Entrepreneur: Reinventing Yourself7:00 The Importance of Being Seen and Sharing Your Story9:00 Health Struggles and Showing Up Authentically13:23 Changing Your Identity and Your Circle16:00 How to Handle Criticism Without Becoming Defensive19:12 Letting Go of Family Approval22:58 "Respectfully, You Are Not My Audience"25:22 Redefining Success and Creating a Ripple Effect29:19 Protecting Your Energy and Building a Reflection Practice34:31 Ask for the Support You NeedGuest BioGiselle Ugarte is a performance coach, international speaker, executive coach, and professional speaker. Giselle encourages listeners to focus on what they can influence, ask for the support they need, and take ownership of the choices available to them. How do you know whose advice to listen to?Not everyone who gives you advice is qualified to guide your next move. Giselle's framework is to ask whether the person is your audience or a mentor: have they done what you're trying to do, or are they someone you actually want to serve? If not, their opinion may not deserve the weight you're giving it.Why is it important to ask for support? Many people expect others to read their minds and then feel disappointed when support doesn't come. Giselle explains that asking for help is part of taking responsibility. If you need encouragement, accountability, or a cheerleader, you have to name it and ask for it.ResourcesConnect with Giselle Ugarte: giselleugarte.com | Hub for performance coaching, speaking, and her newsletter.Follow Giselle on Instagram and LinkedInAction-Forward Coaching | A confidence and communication boot camp to help you be seen and heard. Learn more about Jaime Taets and her work in leadership development and organizational growth.Explore Jaime's Women's Executive Retreats, focused on dreams, fears, purpose, and meaningful change.Follow Jaime on Instagram, LinkedIn, and FacebookIf you have been waiting for permission to stop letting other people's opinions define your path, this is your sign. In this thought-provoking episode of "Business Growth Talks," host Mark Hayward delves into the narratives we've unknowingly adopted that stagnate business growth. Dispelling the myth that strategy, product, or market conditions are primary growth barriers, Mark reveals how personal stories often limit our business efforts before we even begin. Prepare to unravel these ingrained beliefs, understand their origins, and learn how to rewrite them for success.Throughout this solo episode, Mark explores common limiting beliefs business owners face, such as discomfort with sales, financial illiteracy, and fears of visibility. He unravels how these narratives—embedded before the age of 20—cripple potential by shaping self-perceptions.  Mark highlights that recognizing these stories is the initial step toward choosing more empowering beliefs, suggesting practical strategies for overcoming them. He emphasizes that the financial impact of these narratives on business is far from trivial, advocating for a mindset shift as a critical component of entrepreneurial success.Key Takeaways:Business growth is often hindered by personal narratives rather than strategic factors.Limiting beliefs about sales, numbers, visibility, readiness, and pricing hold entrepreneurs back.Identify and reframe negative stories with realistic, actionable alternatives to foster growth.Examine consistent patterns of self-sabotage to uncover stories hindering progress.Challenge existing beliefs by gathering evidence that disproves and reconceptualizes them.SPONSORCEO Friend: A tool for competitor analysis that aids in strategic decision-making and growth planning.Go to link https://bit.ly/4vkeNXQAnd go to a free month trial on  https://bit.ly/4eKb15o Resources:James Clear's Atomic Habits: A recommended read for understanding identity-based change and habit formation.Social Media: Follow Mark Hayward's podcast, "Business Growth Talks," on Apple Podcasts or Spotify for more episodes.Listen to the full episode for deep insights from Mark Hayward on reframing limiting beliefs and the transformative impact this can have on your entrepreneurial journey. This video examines the uncomfortable truth that your own mind is often the primary gatekeeper of your potential. Through the story of a man told to discard his bed and walk, we analyze why you refuse to leave your comfort zone even when the solution is within reach. It is easy to point fingers at circumstances, but true growth starts when you stop lying to yourself about why you are actually stuck. We explore the mechanics of how we justify inaction and how a simple, direct conversation can force a shift in perspective. If you are tired of excuses, this breakdown will help you recognise the psychological patterns that keep you from moving forward. If you want to cut through the noise and BS head to www.colossusfitness.comThese draw from ongoing social media debates (TikTok, Instagram, X), emerging trends like body recomposition, GLP-1 drugs (e.g., semaglutide), wearable tech, and "optimized" protocols. They avoid super outdated ones like "carbs at night make you fat" or the classic "anabolic window" (though timing still gets twisted).Myth 1- You Can't Build Muscle in a Calorie Deficit (Especially If You Have Body Fat to Lose) Body recomposition is very possible for beginners/intermediates with decent body fat, good protein intake, and progressive training. Myth 2- Cardio Kills Your Gains / You Must Choose Between Muscle and Fat Loss Excessive cardio + poor recovery is the real issue, not cardio itself.Myth 3- High Protein Harms Your Kidneys (or You Can Only Absorb ~30g Per Meal) For healthy people, higher protein supports muscle and satiety safely. The 30g rule is overstated, your body handles more, especially spread out. Kidneys concern mainly applies to those with pre-existing issues.Myth 4- Spot Reduction Works (or Targeted Ab Work Burns Belly Fat) Fat loss is systemic; you can strengthen muscles but not selectively melt fat from one area.Myth 5- Sweating More & Soreness is the key to progressSweat is mainly thermoregulation; it doesn't correlate strongly with calories burned or workout effectiveness. Intensity, progressive overload, and consistency matter more.Myth 6- Creatine Causes Hair Loss / Bloating / Other Major Side Effects Still scares people away despite strong evidence for safety and benefits (strength, muscle, cognitive). Hair loss myth ties to DHT correlation (weak), and bloating is usually temporary/minimal with proper dosing. Huge in 2025-2026 supplement discussions.Myth 7- You Need to Train 5-6+ Days a Week (or Go All-In on Intensity Every Session) for Real Results Many busy people get great results with 3-4 well-designed sessions + walking/recovery. Overtraining or burnout myths keep people inconsistent. Thanks for listening! What if the thing holding you back isn't your schedule, your age, or even your circumstances? What if it's a barrier you can't even see? This week on Coffee & Tea with CarrieVee, Carrie welcomes back bestselling author, fitness expert, and midlife coach Heike Yates for another powerful conversation inspired by her book, Pursue Your Spark. Together, they unpack one of the biggest reasons women feel stuck in midlife—not because they lack discipline or motivation, but because invisible barriers quietly shape their decisions without them realizing it.From limiting beliefs and outdated identities to stress, overwhelm, and unhealed emotional wounds, Carrie and Heike explore how the stories we carry can keep us from moving forward—even when we're doing "all the right things."If you've ever felt like you're working hard but not making progress, this episode will help you identify what may really be standing in your way. In This Episode Why mindset is often more important than fitness or nutrition  The invisible barriers that quietly sabotage progress  How old identities can prevent new opportunities  Why doing more isn't always the answer  The connection between stress, cortisol, and physical health  How emotional healing impacts your ability to move forward  Why paying attention is the first step toward lasting change  Learning to replace self-judgment with curiosity  The importance of taking one small step instead of trying to change everything at once  How clarity creates freedom and momentumHelping Midlife Women Move Forward AgainMany midlife women aren't starting from scratch — they're navigating seasons where what once worked no longer fits.I help women move out of the start-over cycle and rebuild strength, energy, and confidence with realistic fitness, nutrition, and mindset strategies that support real life.I know what it feels like to juggle work, motherhood, and identity while wondering if you'll ever feel like yourself again. At one point, I was a single mom raising two kids on $300 a month, working long hours and trying to hold everything together.Fitness became my lifeline — the one thing that helped me feel strong, resilient, and hopeful when life felt heavy.Over the past 35+ years, that lifeline became my mission. I've helped thousands of midlife women move out of the start-over cycle and find an approach that finally works for their body and their life. Here's what I believe:Midlife isn't a decline — it's your turning point. You don't need extremes — just small steps that fit your life. And with the right support, you can feel capable, clear, and strong at any age.If you're ready to stop starting over and finally find an approach that works for your body and your life, you're in the right place.Get Heike's book: https://amzn.to/4tBvoGphttps://heikeyates.com/other episodes with Heike Yates:Midlife Moments With Heike Yates:  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coffee-and-tea-with-carrievee/id1514671446?i=1000768689467Pursue Your Spark with Heike Yates:  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coffee-and-tea-with-carrievee/id1514671446?i=1000760004906Book a Discovery Call with CarrieVee:https://schedulewithcarrievee.as.me/?appointmentType=12343596Book CarrieVee for a Speaking Engagement:  https://www.coachcarriev.com/contact-meConnect with CarrieVee:www.carrievee.comcarriev@coachcarriev.comIG:  @iamcarrievee TT:  @carrievee2022FB:  Carrie VerrocchioLI:  Carrie Verrocchio

It is easy to convince yourself that you need more before you can begin building your financial coaching practice. A better website. More software. Additional training. More confidence. Maybe just a little more money. In this revisit of an earlier conversation, Cody and Maria talk about what it means to start with the resources already available to you. They explore how limitations can encourage creativity, why an imperfect system does not have to keep you from serving people, and how your practice can grow as your experience and resources grow. They also discuss the value of investing in your own development without believing that you need the most expensive program—or every tool imaginable—before working with your first client. The point is not to remain where you begin. It is to stop waiting for everything to be perfect before you take the first step.

Jodie just wrapped her fifth year hosting a painting workshop in Citta della Pieve, Italy, and this episode is not the trip recap you expect. It is the story of a wall that could not be cleaned, the artist who painted a mural over it instead, and what five years of doing this keeps teaching Jodie about letting go of control, both on the canvas and off it. Inside this episode: • The moment a technically flawless artist finally let go of needing to know where a brushstroke was going • The story of the paint spill, the mural of poppies, and the career decision that came after it • Three things Jodie wants every artist to sit with, whether you ever get on a plane or not Resources Mentioned: Italy 2027 Honest Art® Workshop: https://stradatoscana.com/retreats/jodie-king/  The Artist Who Gets Paid, Jodie's 3-part workshop (August 20, 25, and 27): https://www.jodiekingart.com/artistseries  Studio Elite Mastermind: https://www.jodiekingart.com/studioelite  Episode 63, How Artists Can Reignite Their Creativity and Find Their Spark Again: https://jodieking.com/episode-63-how-artists-can-reignite-their-creativity-and-find-their-spark-again/ Episode 87, How Imposter Syndrome is Holding You Back as an Artist: https://jodieking.com/episode-87-how-imposter-syndrome-is-holding-you-back-as-an-artist-what-to-do-about-it/ Episode 120, The Healing Power of Art Workshops with Returning Guest, Becky Joan Springer: https://jodieking.com/episode-120-from-wreckage-to-community-teaching-and-healing-with-returning-guest-becky-joan-springer/ Episode 140, Finish Your Painting With Confidence: https://jodieking.com/episode-140-finish-your-painting-with-confidence-15-actionable-steps-to-push-the-fuglies/ Episode 155, Why Your Creative Block Won't Go Away: https://jodieking.com/episode-155-why-your-creative-block-wont-go-away-and-exactly-how-to-fix-it/ Have a question for Jodie? **The Grant Mitt Podcast #168** **The Biggest Thing Holding You Back Isn't Talent... It's This** There are people with less talent, fewer resources, and less experience who are achieving more than you. The difference usually isn't intelligence or luck. It's the willingness to take action before they feel ready. In this episode, I break down why shyness and hesitation silently destroy opportunities, how momentum compounds in every area of your life, and why every decision you make is either moving you closer to the life you want or further away from it. We cover: * Why confidence is built through action, not thinking * How momentum creates a positive flywheel in business and life * The psychology behind taking more shots * Why speaking up creates opportunities you'll never see by staying quiet * How to build unstoppable momentum one decision at a time If you've been waiting until you feel "ready," this episode is for you.

In this episode, Simone Stolzoff explores why the need for certainty is holding you back and how learning to live with uncertainty can lead to greater resilience, better decisions, deeper relationships, and a more meaningful life. Drawing from psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, and his own deeply personal experiences, Simone explains why our brains crave certainty, why that instinct often fuels anxiety and overthinking, and how embracing the unknown can become a source of growth rather than fear. If you've ever found yourself stuck waiting for the “right” answer before moving forward, this conversation offers a wiser—and more freeing—way to navigate life's inevitable uncertainty. Free Guide: Outsmart the Hidden Saboteurs of Self-Control. What's been holding you back lately?
