On tonight's show, Stellantis is the name on everybody's lips; Tick-tock, the clock is counting down for every brand to turn things around. We're also talking about cars we grew up with and educating each other on exactly how many doors are on a Ford Windstar.
It's double the fun on this weeks episode of Hey Sis, Eat This with identical twin sisters, Mary and Emily Bishea. Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago this duo gave Momma Mary Rita a run for her money from day one! With their heartbeats in synch for the entire pregnancy, the doctors were not even aware that Mary Rita was pregnant with twins until she screamed “there's another one coming!!” 10 minutes later and without a name picked out, Mary Margaret was born. We learn how a young Momma Mary Rita navigated parenthood with unexpected twins. From painting pinky nails with nail polish to tell them apart to dressing them alike for way too long, Mary Rita did her best to keep these two in line. When little brother Spike came along a few years later, Mary Rita was really put to the test, when a hot dog chocking incident almost ended with a tracheotomy. Despite the drama, she always had dinner on the table whether it was her famous lasagna or the kids most dreaded dish, chicken baked in milk. The twins recall how an over protective Mary Rita got out of giving the sex talk, sheltered them from dirty movies, and generously gave them her famous white Ford Windstar that became the backdrop for many teenage tales. Twins Emily and Mary share it all including the times they used their identical looks to get up to some pretty elaborate pranks. Most importantly, they share their love and appreciation for Mary Rita and for all she has done and still does for them today. We promise you will laugh twice as hard and have double the fun on this special episode!
We're down to one car in our family, at least for a little while. My 2000 Ford Windstar van costs more to fix than it's worth and it will be going to a good cause in the next few days. The pandemic revealed a few fallacies about how much we can get done at home and now I find myself evaluating invitations to leave home much more carefully. And I also am looking much more critically at every item on my calendar and asking myself if this is how I really want to spend my time. It's a new way of life for someone who has owned his own car for the past 43 years. With a kid getting a driver's license in the next few months, I don't know how long this resolution will last, but the temporary change has been instructive. I am a homebody, that's nothing new, but charges of being anti-social may be forthcoming and merited. Will leave home for poetry, art, some music, and dinner. #onecarfamily #twocargarage #imhome
Comedian Molly Kearney builds a Golden Record full of the things the aliens could never dream of. What will they think of an animated film in which all of the characters are humanoid dogs, some of which are insanely hot? Sure, they could imagine a car, but what about a minivan with the door falling off and all the back benches removed, blaring the best piano rock tunes of the last fifty years? Do they have geode caverns on their planet? Probably not. A hug from Molly's mom? Not in their galaxy. There is also a lot of talk about pants-shitting and death-by-toilet. July 26, 2009. A Ford Windstar minivan enters the Taconic State Parkway shortly after 1:30pm and accelerates to a speed of 85 mph ... going the wrong way into oncoming traffic. Behind the wheel is 36-year-old Diane Schuler, high on marijuana with a blood-alcohol level of .19, more than twice the legal limit. She's out of control, weaving around cars with a bottle of Vodka next to her and 5 children as passengers. The terror continues for 1.7 miles, until the van collides head-on with an SUV, killing everybody but Diane's 5-year-old son, Bryan. In the aftermath, an investigator reveals conversations with more than 50 family members and friends proves nobody had ever seen Diane drunk, or even consume more than a single drink. So, what pushed this responsible, loving mother over the edge? A panic attack? A stroke? Or was it something more sinister?
Diane Schuler. July 26, 2009. Mount Pleasant, New York. The 2009 Taconic State Parkway crash resulted in eight deaths and three injuries. Half of those who died were young children. At the center of the mystery is a woman who was a successful executive and responsible mother. When toxicology reports indicate that she was driving with a blood alcohol level of 2.5 times the legal limit, many who knew her could not accept the lab results. They rarely saw her drink. They spoke about her character and her devotion to her family. Could she have been a closet alcoholic? Witnesses stated that she had been driving a red Ford Windstar aggressively in the ninety minutes or so before the crash. Could such a responsible person knowingly put so many others' lives at risk? Is there any possibility that a medical issue was behind this? Justin & Aaron discuss the possible scenarios that led to the fatal collision that occurred in 2009 as well as what happened later to those left behind after the deaths of their loved ones.
