Play Episode Listen Later May 28, 2026 45:46

Step into a sacred space of divine alignment and deep mind management with this guided Reiki meditation led by Colleen Benelli. Traverse the Bridge of Light to release the busyness, distractions, and old stories of the world at the River of Peace. Connect with the Tree of Wisdom and the Divine Animal Kingdom to calm your nervous system, align your chakras, and rewire your human mind into higher consciousness. Key Insights Aligning the Five Minds into One Mind: True mental stability begins by bringing your logic into harmony with your spiritual body. This journey consciously aligns your head mind, heart mind, gut mind, earth mind, and divine mind into one unified breath, ensuring your daily choices are guided by the authority of compassion rather than chaotic overthinking. Entrainment on the Bridge of Light: The distance symbol acts as an energetic Bridge of Light, lifting your awareness into the higher frequencies of the third heaven. As you walk through each color of the spectrum, your chakras are systematically cleansed and balanced, awakening your authentic intellect and keeping you anchored in your sovereign truth. Cleansing "Stories" at the River of Peace: The repetitive mental loops we experience are often bound to old beliefs and unhelpful cords. Immersing your consciousness in the River of Peace dissolves these attachments, creating a clear slate so you can step away from a busy mind and truly hear your own internal guidance. Neuro-Spiritual Rewiring at the Tree of Wisdom: Spiritual healing is meant to translate into practical everyday structure. Resting under the canopy of the Tree of Wisdom infuses your cellular memories and DNA with a high-frequency reset, seemingly rewiring your human brain to easily support your dreams, innovations, and next practical action steps. People Also Ask (FAQ) How does a guided Reiki journey help stop overthinking? A guided Reiki journey shifts your nervous system out of an active stress response into a grounded parasympathetic state. By working with the light of the divine mind and symbols like the distance symbol, Reiki helps dissolve negative thought forms and old beliefs, giving you the mental clarity needed to break repetitive circular loops. What is the River of Peace in a spiritual meditation? The River of Peace is an enlightened, sacred space within a guided spiritual journey used for deep energetic cleansing. It works alongside the life force of Reiki to wash away the worries of the world, dissolve unhealthy attachments or cords, and quiet a busy mind so you can align with your inner truth. How do you program Reiki to work "on the fly"? You can give Reiki a direct instruction to activate automatically whenever you experience unexpected stress or overthinking, a practice known as "microdosing Reiki." By setting this intention during a deep meditation, you allow the energy to instantly step in and reset your neural pathways in real time, even when you don't have time for a full session. Shalin Shah shares his personal experience of being tested for testosterone at age 30 after becoming a father, which led him to establish a decade-long focus on testosterone health. He explains that testosterone serves as an important biomarker for overall health, affecting cardiovascular health, glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, bone health, and muscle health. Key takeaways Testosterone is one of the most important biomarkers for overall health, providing insights into cardiovascular health, glucose metabolism, bone health, muscle health, and inflammation The TRAVERSE study released in June 2023 definitively proved that testosterone replacement therapy does not cause heart attacks, debunking earlier flawed studies Approximately 25 million men in the U.S. are hypogonadal, but only 2-3 million are currently on therapy; the goal is to reach 10-12 million for better population health outcomes Oral testosterone therapy represents a breakthrough, bypassing the liver through lymphatic absorption and providing daily physiologic levels versus the roller coaster effect of weekly injections Testing should be standard practice regardless of symptoms, as testosterone deficiency can manifest differently in different individuals Patients must be their own advocates, as many traditional physicians lack education on hormone replacement therapy Shalin Shah is a distinguished leader in the field of metabolic health, specializing in testosterone replacement therapy. As the Chief Executive Officer of Marius Pharmaceuticals, he was instrumental in the development and FDA approval of KYZATREX® (testosterone undecanoate) CIII Capsules, an oral testosterone treatment for adult men with low or no testosterone levels due to certain medical conditions. Shalin has become one of the most trusted voices in the testosterone and hormone health space. Spearheading a national education effort through his nonprofit, The Testosterone Project, he hopes to improve the public's understanding of hormone health among both patients and physicians. Most recently, he presented to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, advocating for modernized testosterone regulations to expand responsible access for patients and empower doctors to better treat hormone deficiencies. Episode Description:This is where the story changes. What started as a bold line on the map… turned into a real-time lesson in judgment, trust, and knowing when to say enough. In Part 2, we pick up on the ridge, where the terrain got steeper, the exposure got real, and the hike stopped matching what we thought it would be.I'm back with Sam and Henning as we break down the moments that mattered most… the first signs that something was off, the conversations that weren't easy, and the point where continuing forward became a decision, not an assumption. We talk about that moment, the one every backcountry hiker eventually faces, when turning around becomes the smartest move on the table. What were we thinking when the idea of bailing first came up? Was it tension… relief… or both? And how do three people come to that decision together when pride, expectations, and the unknown are all in the mix? This episode dives into the reality of group dynamics under pressure, how we communicated, how we checked in on each other, and how trust played a role in making the call that ultimately kept us safe.Because out there, success isn't always a summit. We reflect on what this hike taught us, not just about Frijole Ridge, but about the Guadalupe Mountains as a whole… where expectations can get humbled fast, and where respect for the terrain matters more than anything else. And when it was all over… physically wrecked, mentally drained, thorns still in our legs…we realized something bigger than the route itself:The strength of the team matters more than the line on the map.If you've ever had to make a hard call in the backcountry or wondered what that moment really feels like, this episode is for you.Subscribe so you don't miss what's coming next… because the stories don't stop here.

Message From the Host:I think this is my favorite picture from the trip. At this point… we were wrecked. Physically drained. Mentally spent. Thorns in our legs… even pushing through our shoes into our feet. We were running on fumes… knowing we still had a 5-mile road walk to the empty ranger station. But we also knew… we still had each other. This is why we love the Guadalupe Mountains. And this is why there's nothing like the bond you build with your hiking brothers. Sam, Henning, we've been through some things out there… long miles, bad decisions, a little suffering… and somehow even conversations about why are we doing this. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Appreciate you both more than you know. Already looking forward to the next one.Episode Description:This one started like a lot of Guadalupe Mountains ideas do…“Hey, there's this ridge we haven't done yet.”Frijole Ridge, another 8,000-foot peak, and a line on the map that looked just sketchy enough to be worth it.In Part 1, we sit down and rewind to the beginning, before the thorns, before the exhaustion, before things got real.I'm joined by Sam and Henning, and we break down what actually led us to say yes to this hike in the first place. What pulled each of us into it, what we thought it would be, and how our past experiences in the Guads shaped those expectations. We talk through the planning, how we landed on the route, what 10 miles and 3,700 feet of gain looked like on paper versus what it felt like in reality, and the role weather played in whether this hike was even a go.There's also a real look at the risks we discussed beforehand, the bailout plan we had in our back pocket, and who was the most confident heading into it (and why that matters more than you think). We get into gear, what we brought specifically for a Guadalupe Mountains hike, what worked, what didn't, and the lessons that were already starting to surface before the day even really began. And then… we hit the ridge. That moment when expectations start to shift. When you realize this might not be “just another hike.”This is Part 1 of the Frijole Ridge Traverse, the setup, the mindset, and the decisions that shaped everything that came next.

I speak with Es Tresidder, Ben Bardsley and Jon Morgan about our week-a-year traverse of the Grand Alpine Arc, from the Mediterranean to Vienna.Starting in 2016 at Menton near Nice, we have skied together on 9 iterations of this 'Speedy Tours' project where we utilise skimo racing kit for big mountain travel. February 2026 was our final week of the traverse - restarting at our 2025 finish point at Seeweisen we finished out a further 6 days to finish at St Stephen's Cathedral at the heart of Vienna.Reflecting on the project a few days later we discuss our tactics and tribulations. Some of the best memories from this long term project relate to working as a team towards a common goal - the moments of shared adversity or critical decision-making forging a bond between us. The project took 61 days over 9 weeks across 10 years, with only one of these days as a full stop with no forward progress due to weather conditions. We skied on every day of the traverse except the very first day, and the very last. Total distance was 1788km, 104,000m ascent and 504hrs.For more on Speedy Tours please see Episode 26 which was recorded with Ben Bardsley and Jon Morgan from a bivi hut on year 6 of the project. EPISODE SUMMARY In this episode, Arundhati Parmar interviews Shalin Shah, CEO of Marius Pharmaceuticals, about Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) and the long-standing regulatory classification that places testosterone as a Schedule III controlled substance. Shah explains that testosterone was scheduled in 1990 following Olympic doping scandals — despite opposition at the time from the FDA, DEA, and the American Medical Association. More than 30 years later, he argues that the regulatory framework no longer reflects current clinical evidence and may be doing more harm than good. The conversation explores: The scientific evidence surrounding cardiovascular and prostate safety The differences between injectable and oral testosterone therapies The stigma and logistical barriers created by controlled substance status How GLP-1 drugs intersect with hormone health and muscle preservation The possibility of expanding testosterone therapy access to women Whether the current regulatory environment may revisit testosterone scheduling At its core, this episode examines whether testosterone is being regulated based on outdated controversy rather than modern clinical science — and what that means for patients navigating care today. Seven of the aphorisms of Gurdjieff are considered in this third talk on the subject. Teaching refers to the ideas we draw from, while the path is our individual road. No two paths are the same, even when they emanate from a common source. The Fourth Way, which the Gurdjieff Work has been called, refers to the premise that we are three-centered beings. The work of the fakir focuses on mastery of the body or moving center, the monk on mastery of the heart or emotional center, and the yogi on mastery of the mind or intellectual center. Each way only encompasses part of the process. The Fourth Way develops all three centers in tandem. We all need cosmology, which describes the structure of the universe. Most traditions are mixes, but we are wise to take care in mixing elements of various teachings before having stabilized on our path. Reasons for finding a path may be different for each of us. Conditions can be fostered for spiritual development, but actual help comes from God. Three practices are discussed: simplicity, super efforts, and working with impressions. We have enough energy to work on ourselves; we only need to save the greater part of what we have. Through experiences calling for extra effort, we open to new levels of being. Only super efforts count. We can hardly advance in our comfort zone. Taking in impressions means taking in the energy that comes with them. An overview of faith, hope, and love from Beelzebub's Tales is discussed. Self-healing is separate from teaching and yet is a necessary component of the path. Carl Grimsman was born into the Gurdjieff Work environment of the early years of the New York Foundation, attended the children's group there, and later worked with Mrs. March, a direct Gurdjieff student, at East Hill Farm. The first two books in his “The Soul's Traverse” series are Sun Bridge and The Kindling.

Jeff Colt is back, calling in from Carbondale with a mission to help rehabilitate the name “Jeff” one mountain town conversation at a time. We start with winter training reality in ski country, how to keep momentum when the days are short, the “subsistence” weeks that quietly save your season, and the eternal debate of pants, tights, and looking cool versus staying warm. From there it turns into a bigger conversation about identity, planning, uncertainty, and why the simplest answer sometimes is “we just have Jeff,” so we might as well make it a good one. Then we head straight into the good stuff, the White Mountains and the Mahoosuc Traverse, where “running” becomes scrambling, crawling, and three points of contact through the Mahoosuc Notch. Jeff breaks down the history and the legends (including Chris Getz and the steak stop), why style matters as much as speed in FKTs, and how different eras and ethics shape what we celebrate. We close with one of the most fun tangents of the whole Month of Jeff, what it is really like working in the AMC huts, from responsibility in dangerous weather to full-on blanket-folding skits, including Harry Potter and Frozen, all in service of three sacred rules: fold the blankets, pack out the trash, and tip the hut crew.Support our Sponsors: Janji (code: Freeoutside): https://snp.link/a0bfb726CS Coffee: CSinstant.coffeeGarage Grown Gear: https://snp.link/db1ba8abChapters00:00 The Jeff Identity Crisis06:19 Winter Training in Mountain Towns09:18 Exploring the Mahusik Range12:37 The Legacy of Chris Getz15:27 Navigating the Mahusik Notch18:29 Style and FKT Philosophy22:00 The Challenge of Self-Supported FKTs24:56 Planning and Uncertainty in Adventure27:57 The Evolution of Trail Running Style42:22 Exploring Style in Trail Running44:16 The Debate on Supported vs. Unsupported47:43 The Evolution of Trail Running50:54 Killian Jornet: The Pinnacle of Trail Running54:43 Authenticity in Trail Running58:30 The Role of Creativity in Trail Running01:03:31 Life Lessons from Working in the HutsSubscribe to Substack: http://freeoutside.substack.comSupport this content on patreon: HTTP://patreon.com/freeoutsideBuy my book "Free Outside" on Amazon: https://amzn.to/39LpoSFEmail me to buy a signed copy of my book, "Free Outside" at jeff@freeoutside.comWatch the movie about setting the record on the Colorado Trail: https://tubitv.com/movies/100019916/free-outsideWebsite: www.Freeoutside.comInstagram: thefreeoutsidefacebook: www.facebook.com/freeoutside
