Have you been hurt by someone? Maybe they harmed you or someone you love in a way that just seems unforgivable. As Pastor Ricky continues to lead us through the Lord's Prayer, we're challenged to do the impossible. It won't be easy, it won't feel as good as revenge does in the moment, and it'll take a lot of prayer and the Holy Spirit's helping hand but forgiveness is vital for all followers of Christ. We've been given an immeasurable grace and we need to extend that same grace to our debtors."Mighty Fortress" by Sovereign Grace Music, used with permission.
Most of us have opened a bill and found ourselves in a mild state of shock over the debt it contains. Medical bills, tax bills, loans, whatever it was, it may have felt insurmountable in that moment. Imagine if a benefactor walked up to us, took that bill, tore it up, and declared that they would take care of it. As Pastor Ricky reminds us in today's message, that is exactly what Christ has done for us. He took our debt of sin, a debt we could never pay, and He paid it with His own life on the cross."Mighty Fortress" by Sovereign Grace Music, used with permission.
Equipping Hour | Praying with the Lord | "Forgive Us Our Debts..." by OrlandoGrace
6.21.26 | Matthew 6:12, 14-15
A devotional delivered to the congregation of Emmanuel Reformed Baptist Church prior to the midweek prayer meeting.
What happens to a debt when it's forgiven? In this episode, we explore one of the most overlooked lines in the Lord's Prayer: "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." Drawing from personal devotion and Paul's teaching on the Body of Christ, we wrestle with a simple but profound truth: debt never simply disappears. Someone always absorbs the cost. But what about the debts that can't be measured in dollars? What happens when someone steals your peace, damages your reputation, weakens trust, or leaves emotional wounds behind? How do those debts get paid?We discuss the connection between forgiveness and body life, why unresolved offenses affect more than just the people involved, the difference between restitution and restoration, and why true discipleship requires us to stop justifying our own failures while magnifying the failures of others. At its core, forgiveness is not simply a matter of obedience. It's a matter of faith. Do we trust that when we release what we're owed, God is able to restore what was lost? This conversation will challenge the way you think about forgiveness, responsibility, community, and the transforming power of grace.

Lucas da Costa continues the study series on the Lord's Prayer. Tonight he considers God's forgiveness towards us and the forgiveness believers should show towards others. 1 Samuel 24; Matthew 18 vs 21 - 35. Also John 13 vs 4 - 17 & 1 John 2 vs 9 - 10
Forgiven people are forgiving people. Jesus teaches us to pray for forgiveness in the same breath He calls us to forgive others. This week we work through what honest repentance looks like, the difference between true repentance and its counterfeits, and what it means to receive mercy and extend it to others.

The Lord's Prayer may be the most familiar prayer in Christianity—and the most overlooked. In this episode of InContext, Michael Easley sits down with Brad Gray and Brad Nelson of Walking the Text to uncover the depth, power, and biblical context behind the prayer Jesus taught His disciples. Drawing from years of study in Israel, pastoral ministry, and personal experiences of grief and suffering, Brad and Nelson show how the Lord's Prayer is not just something Jesus taught—it's the prayer He lived. From Exodus imagery and the “heavens” language to forgiveness, grief, and the kingdom of God, this conversation reframes the prayer as a daily blueprint for discipleship. Whether you've prayed the Lord's Prayer for decades or rarely stop to think about its meaning, this episode invites you to hear it with fresh ears—and to rediscover how it shapes our understanding of God, ourselves, and our purpose in the world. The Art of Prayer // Forgive Us Our Debts // Pastor Philip Muela by Inspire Churches
In this message from February 1st, 2026, Pastor Robby Gallaty unpacks asking God for forgiveness. Speaker: Robby Gallaty
Jesus' prayer, “forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors,” indicates a daily rhythm at the heart of the kingdom: receiving forgiveness and extending it. Forgiveness is not a feeling but a loving readiness. God will meet us with the merciful forgiveness we need every time we fail. And He asks us to extend […]
Week three of the series, "The Lord's Prayer" focuses on the line “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors,” highlighting forgiveness as both a gift we receive and a command we extend. While believers are already forgiven through Jesus, continually asking for forgiveness keeps us humble, dependent, and grateful, helping us recognize and repent from specific sins. True confession leads to transformation, not just words but changed living empowered by the Holy Spirit. As we are forgiven by God, Jesus expects us to forgive others as well, revealing mature faith that reflects God's mercy. Ultimately, forgiveness is an act of the will through which God's love flows, freeing both the giver and receiver and demonstrating the heart of genuine Christianity.

What if I told you there was a process and no matter how much you blew up your life, if you used this process, there would be a way to come out the other side whole? Well, here it is. It's what the Bible calls repentance. You say, “You mean just saying I'm sorry?” But that reveals you don't understand the power of this kind of prayer. This kind of prayer, if you do it in an ongoing way, will finally enable you to change deeply from the inside out. Looking at Psalm 51, we'll see 1) what one thing must you stop doing, 2) what two things must you start doing, and 3) where you get the power to do those two things. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on November 2, 2014. Series: The Prayer of Prayers. Scripture: Psalm 51:1-19.
