This interview is with Manuel Recio of Abbott Claim. In this interview, Manuel talks about the different decades of his life and the 3 main paths he has taken so far.Manuel talks about spending his 20s working in advertising and marketing, working for companies in Florida and later Oregon after moving there with his wife Leslie. They met while studying abroad in Spain, and Leslie was attending Linfield at the time.Next, in his 30s, Manuel and Leslie lived in Grand Island and owned Veridian Farms. Manuel shared about taking boxes of produce and marketing materials to restaurants in Portland to encourage chefs to buy ingredients directly from their farm.Manuel also discusses focusing on specialty foods and wine in his 40s. He started by becoming one of the few master carvers of Jamón Ibérico in the United States, and continued on to receive his Level 3 WSET certification and study winemaking at UC Davis. He worked at several different wineries during that time, including Domaine Drouhin, Cristom, Domaine Serene, and Abbott Claim.This interview was conducted by Rich Schmidt at Linfield University's Nicholson Library on November 20, 2025.
Rocío Recio, de Cobas AM, analiza la situación de la Seguridad Social y las condiciones para invertir en planes de pensiones. Diciembre es el mes de los planes de pensiones. No tiene demasiado sentido que sea así. Porque las aportaciones las podemos hacer en cualquier momento del año. Pero, como nos han explicado muchas veces esos economistas que tanto nos gustan y que iniciaron esa disciplina que llamamos "economía conductual" o "psicología económica", el ser humano no siempre actúa con lógica (al menos, no con la lógica de los modelos, que en ocasiones son muy matemáticos, pero poco "lógicos" si pensamos en esta palabra desde una perspectiva humana). En cualquier caso, sea por la razón que sea, lo cierto es que un elevado porcentaje de aportaciones a los planes de pensiones se concentran en las últimas semanas de cada ejercicio. En esas semanas de diciembre es cuando todos nos acordamos de que todavía no hemos nutrido nuestro plan (y que perderemos la ventaja fiscal si no lo hacemos rápidamente). De todo esto vamos a hablar esta semana, en Tu Dinero Nunca Duerme con Rocío Recio, del equipo de Relación con Inversores de Cobas AM. "El sistema público de pensiones tiene un doble problema: demográfico y de gasto público. España es un país en el que se vive muy bien y nuestra esperanza de vida cada día es mayor. Pero cada vez nacen menos niños. Esto hace que la pirámide poblacional se esté dando la vuelta. En cuanto al gasto público, tenemos un gran agujero en las cuentas de la Seguridad Social". Y con todo esto, ¿realmente, el sistema público de pensiones es sostenible?: "Un sistema de reparto, como el nuestro, va a ser sostenible siempre que haya una masa salarial que pueda cubrir esa parte de gastos. ¿Qué nos dice la evidencia? Que el sistema no es sostenible. Hemos modificado los parámetros básicos, como la edad de jubilación. La Seguridad Social ya ha agotado las transferencias del Estado hace unas semanas. Todo esto, sin tener en cuenta la generación de baby-boomers que se van a jubilar en las próximas de Europa. Con una de las tasas de reemplazo más generosas de la OCDE". ¿Esto quiere decir que no vamos a cobrar pensión? No, por supuesto. Sí cobraremos, la clave son las condiciones de esa prestación: "Los jubilados del futuro van a recibir la mitad de su sueldo como pensión. Claro que vamos a recibir pensión. Es de las últimas cosas que dejarían de pagar. Pero, ¿en qué cantidad? Las tasas de sustitución tan elevadas [el 75-80%, nivel que hemos visto en España en las últimas décadas] se van a reducir hasta el 50%", nos recuerda Recio. ¿Y cuánto puede aportar cada ciudadano a sus planes de pensiones?: "En los planes de pensiones individuales, veníamos de unos límites mucho más elevados: ahora el máximo es de 1.500 euros anuales (desgravable en el IRPF). Para planes de empleo, las empresas pueden promover para todos sus empleados: aquí el límite es de 8.500 euros por parte de la empresa y de otros 1.500 por parte del empleado. Hay que recordar que este producto tiene beneficios fiscales para la empresa que también le interesa. Para autónomos: pueden desgravarse 1.500 euros como el resto de personas y 4.250 euros como plan de empleo de autónomos [Total para autónomos: 5.750 euros]".

El inolvidable guitarrista, arreglista y compositor holguinero Juanito Márquez en la memoria con algunos de sus clásicos interpretados alguna vez por las voces más grandes. Entre ellas: Miguel de Gonzalo, Omara Portuondo y Elena Burke. De vuelta a las maravillas de la radio independiente cubana unos minutos junto al trío de Servando Díaz. Los más guaracheros: Servando, Otilio y Recio. Los minutos finales de este Cubakústica corren a cargo de Haydée Milanés y su hermoso tributo a la filinera mayor Marta Valdés del 2014. Con algunos cortes del álbum "Palabras" es un verdadero gusto despedirnos.
