On a somber Sunday in 2010, the quiet town of Maesteg, South Wales, was shaken by tragedy when 15-year-old Rebecca “Becca” Aylward vanished after meeting her ex-boyfriend, Josh Davies. Her mother, Sonia Oatley, tirelessly searched the streets, driven by dread and mounting desperation. The search ended with a chilling call: "Stop searching. Come home." This confirmed Sonia's worst fears: Becca was not just missing - she was lost forever. The community was stunned to learn that Josh, once trusted and loved by Becca and her entire family, savagely took her young life simply to settle a bet with a friend. Becca's last words, "Bye Mam, I love you," will remain a poignant reminder of the innocent life so cruelly taken by a cold, calculated, and ruthless teenage predator. When Rebecca Aylward went to secondary school near her home in Maesteg, South Wales, she met Joshua Davies and the pair quickly hit it off and became firm friends. Rebecca and Joshua were both academic, worked hard and were soon top of the class in their results. Soon the pair began to date, but then there were concerns about Joshua's behaviour. Concerns that continued to grow, but nobody could have predicted that Joshua was capable of extreme violence. And murder. Writing Credit: Megan Grant.
