Mike reminds us that God gives us gifts so he can be known in the world and all great miracles are attributed to the name of Jesus. Fr. Mike also tells us why our suffering matters, and how God wastes nothing. Today's readings are Acts 3, Romans 4-5, and Proverbs 27:1-3. In this sermon from Romans 4, Pastor Blaine explores why God chose circumcision as a sign of His covenant and how it points to the greater promise fulfilled in Christ. Tracing the story from Abraham through the entire Old Testament, he shows how God's plan to redeem humanity has always been centered on faith, not works. This message reveals the beauty of God's faithfulness, the depth of His grace, and the unbroken thread of redemption that runs from Genesis to Jesus.

Faith or Wrath (Romans 4:13–25)Big Idea: God secures Abraham's promised inheritance by faith according to grace, not by law. The law exposes sin and brings wrath; faith rests in God's promise—confirmed by Christ's resurrection for our justification.Key Quote: “He was fully convinced that what God had promised He was also able to perform.” (Rom 4:21)We unpack Paul's argument that the promise to Abraham (and to all who share his faith) comes through the righteousness of faith, not through works of the law. The law can only reveal our sin and summon wrath; grace gives what law cannot—assurance. Abraham believed against all odds because the object of his faith was the God who “gives life to the dead.” Paul lands the plane with the gospel's heartbeat: Jesus was “delivered up for our offenses and raised for our justification.” Forgiveness and righteousness are both ours in Christ.Faith or Wrath (vv. 13–15): If inheritance were by law, faith would be void. The law exposes sin and brings wrath. What Is Sin? (v. 15b): Sin = lack of conformity to or transgression of God's law (omission & commission). Sin is personal—against the Lawgiver.According to Grace (vv. 16–18): Justification is by faith so that it rests on grace—this produces assurance and extends to “many nations.”Not a Blind Leap (vv. 19–20): Abraham faced the facts but trusted the Promise-Maker; faith is reasonable confidence in God's character.Fully Convinced (v. 21): Mature faith = settled confidence that God performs what He promises.Raised for Our Justification (vv. 24–25): Double imputation: our guilt to Christ; His righteousness to us. The resurrection is the Father's public acceptance of the payment—our justification is secure.
"Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered." - Romans 4:7

In this sermon, Pastor TJ teaches from Romans 4:1–8 on the doctrine of justification by faith alone, using Abraham's life as the prime example that righteousness is received through belief, not earned through works. He traces Abraham's story from God's call in Genesis 12 to the testing of his faith with Isaac, showing that Abraham's trust—not his deeds—was credited to him as righteousness. Pastor TJ explains that salvation is a free gift from God through Jesus Christ, whose perfect righteousness is imputed to believers. He contrasts this grace with the futility of trying to earn God's approval and reminds the church that justification brings freedom, humility, and joy. Ultimately, Pastor TJ calls listeners to rest in the finished work of Christ, allowing their faith to grow as they more clearly see and trust who God is.
Have you ever gotten something completely backwards? In Romans 4, Paul reminds us that righteousness isn't earned by effort—it's received by faith. Through Abraham and David, we discover that grace comes before works, and faith before reward. In this message, Pastor Rich Shepherd helps us see that being right with God isn't about performance—it's about trust. Faith first. Grace always.
The Apostle Paul boldly proclaimed that both the Jews who had the Scriptures and those who only had their moral compasses would be held accountable and judged. Paul clearly proves that all of mankind needs to be rescued from God's wrath and the debt of their sin. We all deparately need Jesus. Pastor Rick spoke from Romans 2 in the CrossPoint Church.
So many Christians are trying to improve their relationship with God by working as hard as they can. Instead Paul tells us of how we can have peace with God, access to the Father, live as his children and be filled with his Spirit. (Romans 4 & 5)

We ended our lesson last time noticing that the apostle Paul is teaching that we must have the faith of Abraham to be able to receive the blessing of the gospel. Summary In this sermon, Dr. Michael Easley unpacks Romans 4, where Paul uses Abraham's life to explain what it means to be justified by faith. Paul is resolute: we are justified by faith apart from works of the law. Looking at Abraham, Paul illustrates that true faith trusts God's promises even when circumstances seem hopeless. Abraham faced the reality of his own limitations—his age, Sarah's barrenness—yet believed in the God who gives life to the dead and calls into existence things that do not exist. This kind of faith glorifies God, not self, and rests fully on His promises rather than human effort. Dr. Easley challenges us to consider the nature of our faith. Are we trusting in our ability to believe, or in the object of our belief—Jesus Christ, who was delivered for our sins and raised for our justification? This passage calls us to turn from self-reliance and rest in the God who creates life from death and credits righteousness to all who believe in Him. Takeaways: We are justified by faith apart from works of the law, as seen in Abraham's example. True faith trusts God's promises even when circumstances seem impossible. God gives life to the dead and creates something out of nothing. Abraham's faith glorified God, showing us that faith rests on God's ability, not ours. Faith grows stronger as we understand the character and promises of God. Our justification rests on Christ's death for our sins and His resurrection for our life.
