Unfortunately, most of us know someone in our network who has been affected by Cancer. In fact, as many loyal listeners know, my dear past co-host Kate Callaghan left her Earthside home after a bloody heroic battle with Breast Cancer, and in the last 18 months, my beautiful Mum has been on her own Breast Cancer journey. I'm not the only one that's for sure, so if you've been affected by Cancer yourself or through someone you know, my heart goes out to you.In today's episode, we wanted to review some of the basic foundational allopathic principles and consensus around what you can do according to the research to reduce your risk of Cancer. We will be doing a part two in the future to round out this conversation and add more of our functional medicine and Naturopathic flare to it. It feels important to share a timely reminder of the foundations for health and longevity as we know so many of you have health as one of your highest values and we celebrate you for this.Enjoy the episode and please send us any questions you'd like covered in part 2 of this series. This podcast is very dear to my heart. Today I am joined by Robyn Edleston, the mother of one of my close personal friends, Kate Callaghan. Kate was an internationally respected nutritionist, author and hormone healer who passed away one year ago today – on June 25, 2020 – after a short but courageous battle with breast cancer, aged just 36 years old. Throughout Kate's cancer journey, we worked together to process the devastating diagnosis and the emotions surrounding it. It was an enlightening practice for myself, and for Kate, to work through the complex emotions within such an event, and an experience that I will cherish forever (you can listen to my podcast with Kate here). Kate was an exceptional woman; brave, determined and an absolute fighter right up until the end. Robyn shares many of the same beautiful qualities as Kate and she and I have worked together to help process the emotions throughout the various stages of grief after we said goodbye to Kate. In this moving podcast, Robyn shares with us an insight into her life with the incredible Kate Callaghan, the rollercoaster of Kate's cancer, and the emotional upheaval that such a diagnosis can inflict on a family. I hope you enjoy this special conversation. **Please note an addition. Before Kate did go to Mexico she did travel to Australia after a friend organised her to see an additional private oncologist. She was prescribed medications. Website: https://drjinong.com and to read the article written by NZ Herald on 25th June 2021.
CELEBRATE KATE This episode is a celebration of my other podcasting half, my wing woman, partner in poddy crime and the most beautiful human that you all know and love, our beautiful Kate Callaghan. If Kate were here we would be toasting our success with an almond milk latte in hand, giggling in disbelief that we actually made it to 100 episodes. And while this time Kate's physical voice wont be coming through your earholes, her spirit was definitely with us, and will be forever. I will let the podcast speak for itself. However I would like to say a big thank you to her friends, family and all of you who have contributed to this episode coming together by sharing stories of love, laughter and appreciation for Kate. I am so grateful. We all are. AND a big thank you to @theartoflisteningtoyourbody for virtually holding my hand and helping me celebrate Kate through this episode. Spread the love, far and wide. Continue to share Kate- her stories, her spirit, her knowledge, her heart and her fierce passion for showing up fully in life. We love you Kate, fly high + free and may that infectious chuckle + warm smile continue to comfort souls far and wide as I know it will mine.

On our final episide of 2014, we'll be chatting all about the concept of Post-Birth Control Syndrome, a condition we feel has reached epidemic proportions for modern women. We're sooo excited to have our very first guest on The Period Party! Her name is Kate Callaghan and she's a Holistic Nutritionist, Personal Trainer and Lifestyle Coach specialising in hormone healing. She has over 13 years experience in the health and fitness industry, and 1.5 years as a Nutrition Expert for Sarah Wilson’s I Quit Sugar program. Her passion for working with female hormonal health stemmed from her own personal experience with hypothalamic amenorrhea, which you can read more about on her blog. Unsatisfied with the treatment options suggested for her by the medical community (hormone replacement medications), she decided to delve into the research and discover how to heal herself through targeted diet and lifestyle changes, which she has found, in herself and clients, to have great success, without the side effects of medication.
