While the pill may manage symptoms, it often masks the real issue, delaying diagnosis and treatment. True healing begins with understanding what's actually happening in the body—and that starts with cycle awareness. Haley shares her own powerful journey. At 16, she was prescribed the pill to manage irregular periods but quickly experienced intense side effects. Unsatisfied with masking symptoms, she turned to cycle charting and, through the help of a knowledgeable OBGYN, was diagnosed with PCOS. This shift allowed her to manage her health naturally—and ultimately led to the conception of her three beautiful children.

Dr. Jonathan Gingrich is a professor of engineering at Dordt College in Iowa. A trained chemical and environmental engineer, he started teaching transportation engineering due to staffing shortages. Unsatisfied with the standard materials required for the class, he incorporated the book "Confessions of a Recovering Engineer" by Chuck Marohn into his curriculum and had his class conduct a Crash Analysis Studio. In this episode of The Bottom-Up Revolution, Dr. Gingrich shares how his unusual background helped him see past engineering codes and look for a better way to design streets. He explains the logistics of incorporating crash analysis and safe street design into the classroom, as well as the benefits it had for his students. Award-winning R&B/Rap producer Band!t fell in love with the genres as the young son of Korean American academics. Unsatisfied with the standard STEM direction, he began teaching himself the rudiments of producing original beats interwoven with samples of songs from the 70s while in college. In 1984, The Replacements were gaining a reputation as fun live punk band, always delivering loud, raucous tunes with setlists full of covers and aggressive originals. They intentionally thwarted management's efforts to get them on bigger labels by sabotaging shows they knew record company reps would be attending. The Minneapolis quartet of Paul Westerberg on vocals, Bob Stinson on guitar, Tommy Stinson on bass and Chris Mars on drums carved out a loyal following and had begun to win over fans around the country thanks to opening for REM. But Westerberg's songwriting, especially his lyrics, were too strong to be for only those moshing around through a drunken haze. With Let It Be, the band explores more personal themes (Unsatisfied, Answering Machine, Androgynous) and captured more melody than they had previously. They still had plenty of straight ahead punk songs (We're Comin' Out, Tommy Got His Tonsils Out, Gary's Got A Boner) but also tried to empathize with those who might not understand the world around them and how to relate (Sixteen Blue). Westerberg's lyrics are personal and poignant and still resonate to this day. Plus, there's a KISS cover song on the album so what's not to like? We didn't find this record until later in life but if you're unfamiliar, I think you'll like a lot of what you hear as we delve into deep topics we don't always weigh in on thanks to this punk classic. Unsatisfied in her marriage, Candy's eye wandered towards fellow church member and friend, Allan Gore. Allan loved his wife, Betty, and had no interest in leaving her, but he could not stop thinking about Candy after she admitted she was attracted to him and thought he might be the one to fulfill her desires. The two went on to have an affair that likely made their marriages look spontaneous. It wasn't quite the boundless passion Candy had hoped for physically but they had grown quite close confiding in one another. Eventually, Allan realized he must end the affair if he hoped to save his marriage. Months after it ended Candy and Betty were alone when Betty ended up dead from 41 axe strikes.
