Happy Merry Holiday from Marc and Dave! They absolutely promise you this is a new "sode and not a refurbished one dusted off and dangled in front of you like old mistletoe. And to prove it Ken Zuckerman has joined us once again to face off against Marc! This year, like all years before it, is just a little bit different. Marc and Ken will be writing a Christmas sequel pitch to a film that wasn't originally in the Christmas spirit. A couple of examples: A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, Jaws The Revenge, and Christmas Vacation. All famously had original films not set on Christmas, but their sequels slid the holiday shell over their film. Now here's the fun part, just like gift giving I will not be revealing what Marc and Ken chose to do.... You'll just have to listen and then see if you agree or disagree with Dave's decision on who the winner is. Will Ken keep the cup from last year, or will Marc take home the big win? Last year "Sequel This" brought you "All the Halloween Sequels" this year.......The Saw is Family and so are you! That's right we're doing all of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" sequels. We've got 6 pitches for you this year, yes 6. That's one more than last year. That's because Dave and I each did our own pitch as opposed to a joint one. Creative differences if you will. Another change there is no guest judge host as there was last year, no instead we're calling on all the listeners to judge the pitches. So please email us at Sequelthis@gmail.com or send us a personal message over Facebook or leave a comment on our Facebook wall. We accept carrier pigeon as well. Anyway you can get us that vote will work really! We will declare the winner on Halloween night! 00:00:00 - 01:10:00 Dave and I discuss the life and unfortunate passing of Tobe Hooper. We go over his films in general and talk about "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise as a whole and finally do as we always do, and discuss the first we encountered the Chainsaw franchise. And as always, Marc's story is embarressing. 01:10:00 - 01:25:00 First up is often times guest host, friend of the show Chris Barreras one of the three hosts over at "Throwing the Controller" podcast. We then discuss his pitch briefly. 01:25:00 - 01:45:00 Our second guest in this chainsaw anthology is John Lehtimaki who you've recently heard on our "Cult of Chucky" show. Now just a forewarning his audio is very low, Dave tried as he could but it just became distorted when attempting to raise the volume up, so please during this duration turn the volume up a smidge. 01:45:00 - 01:57:00 Our third contributer is Justin Lee who was recently on our "X-men Writer's Room" episode. Dave and I discuss his pitch. I mainly talk about how much I can't stand Justin Lee. You'll see... 01:57:00 - 02:16:00 Our final guest for this anthology Ken Zuckerman, co-creator of "The Marc and Ken Video Store Podcast" which you can hear right over here on "The Speakeasy Podcast Network with yours truly Marc L. Rissmann. Ken has also appeared on our "Christmas Carol 2" episode this last year. So there's a lot of Ken. We then discuss his pitch. 02:16:00 - 02:30:00 Dave finally unleashes his pitch on the masses. 02:30:00 - 02;47:00 Marc pitches his Chainsaw Sequel. Is Dave impressed? NOTE: The "Sequel This" theme performed by "Petrified Gumbo" was once again remixed by David Rodriguez. No worries though, the normal BADASS theme will be back in fighting shape for Novembers show. The Marc and Ken Video Store Podcast Episode: Back to the Video Store S01, E01 During an episode of "Sequel This" Marc L. Rissmann is pulled into the future by his friend and previous guest of the show, Ken Zuckerman. He reveals to Marc that in the future they open a Video Store together in a market that isn't looking for one, and it's imperative that past Marc not allow this to happen.
Well now that all that Turkey business is out of the way, we can move onto more important things like being stressed out about buying gifts, Holiday traffic, and a new Christmas episode of "Sequel This." In this episode Dave returns as host, as he pits Marc against special guest Ken Zuckerman from the up and coming podcast "The Marc and Ken Video Store Podcast." In their 8th episode the boys attempt to make a sequel to a beloved classic Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" well at least Ken is. Meanwhile Marc is doing something....He seems to be working out some inner demons on this one. Merry, happy, Christmas, holiday from the "Sequel This" family to your own. NOTE: Some of the audio is a bit choppy from time to time. But we promise you, it's worth making it through this one.
Welcome to Sequel This’s Halloween special. We have for you tonight a super-sized double wide trailer edition of the regular show. It’s not just double the length it’s double the pitches, we have four count them four stories to toss into your plastic pumpkins. To celebrate our favorite fall holiday Sequel This will be tackling the Halloween franchise and because there are four distinct dead ends to the sum total franchise we asked three special guests to join us in rounding those story lines out. We didn’t stop there though, for the first time we asked a fourth guest to join us to judge all of these pitches and ultimately decide just which direction this fractured franchise should go. That fourth guest is none other than Chris Barreras whom you may just have heard in a previous episode about a couple of plumbers. 00:00:00 – 01:00:00 For the first hour we blab on about how we each learned about Michael Myers as kids and our overall thoughts on the franchise. You’re welcome to skip it but then you may not get the origin of "Ginger Beerd." 01:00:01 – 01:25:00 Guy Milks pitches his sequel idea to Halloween: Resurrection and we discuss amongst ourselves afterward. 01:25:01 – 01:44:00 Ken Zuckerman pitches his sequel idea to Robert Zombies Halloween 2 AKA H2 and then we mull it over a spell. 01:44:01 – 02:12:00 Andy DiGenova host of Holy Batcast and Real Fans 4 Real Movies pitches the caper to the Thorn story line by creating a sequel to Halloween 6: Curse of Michael Myers. Then we rip it apart afterward… Or do we? No we don’t. 02:12:01 - 02:33:00 Marc and Dave do the first ever joint pitch for Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Which isn’t really a sequel at all. 02:33:01 – 02:50:00 Chris sorts through all the pitches and makes his decision on which direction the Halloween franchise should go.
