Is Minimalism the same as Slow Living? Short answer — no, but they have a lot in common. Minimalism is a word you might be hearing more and more at the moment. It is a movement which is taking off particularly in the US and in other western countries too. The other night we watched “Minimalism: A Documentary about the Important Things” and it got me thinking about the similarities with slow living. What is minimalism? “ Minimalism is a tool to rid yourself of life's excess in favor of focusing on what's important — so you can find happiness, fulfillment, and freedom.” (The Minimalists) It is the intention to attach less meaning to things and more significance to people, experiences and purpose. What this means in practice is getting rid of most of your things and living very simply. Some minimalists aim to have less than 50 possessions at any time. If you think about what is in your wardrobe, never mind the rest of your home then you will realize that is quite a challenge. Slow Living is a movement where people decide to live a more balanced, meaningful life through slowing things down and appreciating both the world around them and what they have. Join me on today's episode where we dive into the philosophy of slow living and how it relates to the minimalist lifestyle. We'll discuss the key differences between the two, provide practical tips for designing a slow living, minimalist environment, and explore how this way of life can foster self-discovery and overall wellness. Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things examines the many flavors of minimalism by taking the audience inside the lives of minimalists from all walks of life -- families, entrepreneurs, architects, artists, journalists, scientists, and even a former Wall Street broker -- all of whom are striving to live a meaningful life with less. ________________________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Co1Iptd4p4 https://www.youtube.com/c/Theminimalists https://minimalismfilm.com/ ________________________________ SOCIALS & PODCASTS:https://linktr.ee/imnareshkumarnk

008: “What to do with all your stuff” The guys discuss Minimalism: A Documentary about the Important Things. How do we re-envision our living space and our attitudes about our belongings? How could we reduce our number of clothes, our children’s toys, etc.? How do we reconcile minimalism and gift-giving? How do we deal with social pressures to have more things? To what extent should we borrow/share rather purchase?
Our series "Doc Talks" kicks off with the documentary Minimalism that details the journeys of Dan and Ryan into a minimalistic lifestyle. What does it mean to live minimally? It's more than just decorating your home in a black and white color scheme. In this episode we discuss our thoughts about the film and the importance of its message, as well as how we can easily incorporate the principles of minimalism with our yogi lifestyle.
Featured in Minimalism: A Documentary and the inspiration for many women to rethinking their clothing purchases, Courtney will challenge you to rethink why you think you need so much stuff.

In some ways Emilie of Emilie Eats is your typical college student, super busy, fitting in a little bit of everything, making it all work. In other ways she is not. Emilie is 20 years old running a successful vegan recipe blog. She is self aware beyond her years, noting that she has fallen into the perfectionist mindset of trying to eat perfectly 'clean'. Saying that instagram and youtube can put unrealistic body image ideas into your head. This sort of mindfulness that Emilie has, being cognizant of media influenced thinking and knowing when to step away, is inspiring. In this episode Emilie shares why she thinks veganism & minimalism go hand in hand, we talk about why people have mistaken thoughts about what a vegan body looks like, and Emilie shares her secret to eating vegan with a busy schedule.
