Today, we're excited to premier a two part series about economic development in Missouri. We begin with our guest, Janelle Higgins, the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Missouri Partnership, a public-private economic development organization that helps attract new businesses to Missouri. If you've listened to some of our podcasts before, you know I'm a big supporter of economic development, whether that be business attraction or retention, tourism, job growth or any of the other components that contribute to economic development in rural America. In her role, Janelle leads their team's video and visual strategy, develops and implements public relations efforts, and utilizes traditional and digital media to market and promote Missouri throughout the world. If you know much about Missouri, you know that we have an abundance of assets and amenities to talk about and we get into some of those today. We also discuss the types of businesses the partnership is trying to attract, how they're reaching them, their new marketing campaign they've just launched and much more.

Many theories were proposed, including that 42 is 101010 in binary code, that light refracts through a water surface by 42 degrees to create a rainbow, that light requires 10−42 seconds to cross the diameter of a proton. Adams rejected them all. On 3 November 1993, he gave this answer on alt.fan.douglas-adams: The answer to this is very simple. It was a joke. It had to be a number, an ordinary, smallish number, and I chose that one. Binary representations, base thirteen, Tibetan monks are all complete nonsense. I sat at my desk, stared into the garden and thought ‘42 will do’ I typed it out.
