We have come to the end of Madonna's birthday month celebration and this last offering is a doozy! So much so, that I had thrown everything including the kitchen sink into this set and decided it was a bit much. Never mind that the set still clocks in at over 5 hours. The biggest issue was there weren't many great bootlegs for Give Me All Your Luvin' and the one I was using hemmed really close to the Sultan & Shepard mix, which was high octane. In order to make that work, I had to add in the fabulous DJ Barry Harris remixes of Vogue and Deeper and Deeper, which are equally high-octane. They also provided me the ability to mix in the Dirty Disco remix of La Isla Bonita, which had a very tribal element to it that didn't work elsewhere. Everything worked but it all felt out of place in the overall set. I took everything out and moved a couple of tracks around, added the Wayne G remix of Celebration, which allowed me to re-add La Isla Bonita, and presto...MAGIC! For me, it's all about flow and making everything work together in cohesion even when you're changing gears within the mix. I spent well over 2 weeks pouring through hundreds of bootlegs where 90% are less than stellar with the remaining 10% being good to fantastic. I have no issue with songs that only modernize the original but really like it when someone takes the song and flips it to something entirely different while still retaining the core essence of the original. A good example of this is the Parralox remix of Borderline. The remix still keeps it in the 80s era but moves it away from the pop sound of the original into a New Wave vibe that just works. Another is the Luxar remix of Justify My Love, which takes the dark sleazy Trip Hop version and turns it into something closer to what Nine Inch Nails would have done with the song dropping it into the middle of an S&M club. The grinding synth just gives it that extra sleaze the original is missing. There are many other examples included here. I realize favoriting versions over others is subjective so it's entirely possible I may have missed your favorite version of a track. But, there is so much stuff y'all are already familiar with from past releases and a bevy of brand new remixes that recently came out and took over past favorites — I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised at just how good the final product came out. I also want to mention that there are some notable mashups like the DJ Bill Bennett Erotica vs. Cafe Del Mar, which still holds up to this day. Though, I slowed the track down to 122 BPM from 126 BPM, which made more sense. Perhaps the first mashup, which is the most notorious of them all was the White Label Stardust vs. Madonna on Music Sounds Better On Holiday (other titles were listed as Holiday Sounds Better With You), which was released in 1998. At the time, there were several mashups with the French House classic including by Lisa Stansfield and Bette Midler but by far, the Madonna version was the most famous and likely the most famous mashup of all time. The quality was always shit from these vinyl rips and it's been added as a bonus track at the end of this set because the style and quality don't allow it to fit anywhere within this mix. I've dramatically cleaned it up and you can thank me later for that but even then, there's only so much you can do. It's not clear if this song ever had Madonna's or Warner Brothers' approval but she did use that version to close her sets on the Re-Invention Tour a few years later. I know, I was there. For those of you not happy that Party Favorz has temporarily diverted all of our attention to Madonna this month — I apologize. I've already started collecting tracks for the next Dance Club, Peak Hour, Disco House, and Chill Out sets with the annual Fall Edition in the pipeline as well. This is the first in a series of Cuban music shows that will introduce some of the classics of Cuban music. Cuba, La Isla Bonita where Madonna sings in her eponymous hit is also a musical paradise and one of the most musical places in the world. The creation of a vast number of music styles produced as a result of the combination of European and African musical patterns is outstanding. Son, Rhumba, Habanera, fillin, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, guajira, trova, guaracha are just among the styles developed in the pearl of the Antilles. In the first show, Sabor Añejo will introduce the old music styles before Fidel Castro and the bearded men took over the running of Cuba. In the 1940s the Tim Pan Alley Publishing house in the US considered the immense appeal of Cuban music and were jealous of the perennial best-sellers Cuba produced compared to the average hits they only managed to make, that only lasted for a few months. Peanut Vendor (El Manisero), La Paloma or Guantanamera are some of these perennial compositions. The only music style included in this first show which was not produced in Cuba is the Latin Jazz groundbreaking piece of Manteca. This jazz hybrid is a composition by the Cuban Conga player Chano Pozo in the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band. Manteca opened a new genre in Jazz form. What was called Cuban Bop, then Cuban Jazz and now Latin Jazz? Antonio Machin, Chano Pozo, Beni More, Arsenio Rodriguez, Guillermo Portabales, Miguelito Valdes, Cachao, Mongo Santamaria, Bebo Valdes, Celina, Perez Prado, Graciela, La Lupe, Machito & his Afro Cubans, Francisco Aguabella, Cuarteto D'Aida, El Gran Fellove and the Buena Vista Social Club are essential names of Cuban music. All of them are included in Sabor Añejo of the Cuban Music. Hoy es Miércoles, 22 de septiembre, hace casi 3 día concretamente el pasado domingo a las 15:10 h. Se producía un Gran Momento Histórico en las Islas Canarias. - y el mundo centra su mirada la Isla Bonita. Entraba en erupción un volcán en la Cumbre Vieja en la isla de La Palma. El volcán de La Palma se reactiva con explosiones y más terremotos. Nemesio Pérez (Involcan) no descarta que puedan abrirse más bocas a lo largo de estos días; varios temblores fueron sentidos por la población del Valle de Aridane. La deformación del terreno es ya de 28 centímetros, los evacuados suman 5.700, mientras se dispara la solidaridad entre la ciudadanía isleña a través de iniciativas públicas. El Rey Felipe VI visitará la Isla Bonita mañana Jueves para conocer con detalle la situación en los municipios afectados. El Presidente del Gobierno Español Sánchez a su regreso el jueves de la cumbre de la ONU desde Nueva York volverá a la Palma para continuar con la coordinación de la emergencia. El presidente de España resalta que el Consejo de Ministros inició ayer los trámites para la declaración de zona de emergencia de protección civil; “La crisis no terminará cuando la lava llegue al mar, sino cuando se reconstruya La Palma”, dijo Sánchez. El titular del Ejecutivo canario considera muy importante que el espacio aéreo siga abierto en La Palma para la conectividad y anunció que, este viernes, el Consejo de Gobierno se celebrará en la Isla Bonita con una sesión ordinaria y otra extraordinaria y monográfica sobre esta crisis volcánica. La consejera de Derechos Sociales, Igualdad, Diversidad y Juventud del Gobierno de Canarias, visitó la isla de La Palma para reunirse con los responsables del área social de la isla y comprobar qué medidas desarrollar para ayudar a la población afectada por la erupción volcánica. Y anuncia que se priorizarán las ayudas sociales para La Palma. Es imprevisible el surgimiento de nuevas bocas en el volcán de La Palma. Los expertos dicen que: "Veremos muchas más a lo largo de los días". La erupción cuenta ya con nueve puntos de emisión magmática, y los geólogos creen que esta cifra seguirá variando. Se trata de un fenómeno habitual en los procesos estrombolianos, aunque supone "un peligro añadido". El presidente canario estima que las pérdidas superarán los 400 millones de euros. La lava del volcán de La Palma ayer llegó a Todoque, último pueblo antes de llegar al mar Las coladas avanzan hacia la costa sin freno. La lava engulle y borra del mapa recuerdos, viviendas y sueños por cumplir. Bruselas garantiza fondos para reponer los daños del volcán. El Gobierno central acelera la declaración de La Palma como ‘zona de emergencia’ para que ciudadanos e instituciones puedan acceder a ayudas.
