Marissa Fayer, CEO of DeepLook Medical, points out the challenges of detecting breast cancer in dense breast tissue using mammography. The DeepLook DP Precise platform is a visual intelligence tool to help radiologists see inside dense tissue more clearly without disrupting their workflow, potentially reducing the need for additional tests or biopsies. A recent FDA mandate requiring providers to inform patients about their breast density has increased patient demand for better screening tools Marissa explains, "We're focused on breast imaging, and it's very specifically in dense breasts, because unfortunately, with dense, it's like seeing a cotton ball in the cloud. Radiologists have a really hard time seeing that in standard ways. This is a known problem. I developed the three mammography systems, so I absolutely know that it's a problem. We help radiologists visualize better with visual intelligence to be able to see inside these mammograms so that they potentially don't have to send their patients back for additional ultrasounds, other mammograms, or even biopsies." "So dense breasts show up white on mammograms, and cancer shows up white. So again, it's the analogy of the cotton bowl in the cloud. It might be there, but it might not be. The cloud is just hiding the cotton ball. This is just how X-ray technology is. It's been a problem and known since its inception, and unfortunately 45% to 50% of all women have dense breasts. And so, this is a very common problem, and there's nothing anybody can do. You can't diet or change the way your body composition is. In reality, this is just an additional add-on to existing screening that is a standard of care to help women." #DeepLookMedical #WomenInHealthTech #BreastCancerAwareness #DenseBreastTissue #AIinHealthcare #DigitalHealth #HealthEquity #EarlyDetection #EmpoweredPatients #PatientCenteredCare #WomensHealth #Breastcancer deeplookmedical.com Download the transcript here

Mustafa is a remarkable person. When quite a few would shirk away from exposing their vulnerability in the face of a close relative's death, he actually proposed we speak about things he is experiencing internally and externally leading me to ask questions which touch a chord within me too, making me sensitive during the conversation. It is a mindful and heartfelt chat, where we pause, honour our own feelings, the event, the loss, the gravity of our feelings and allow it to surface on camera, even as we begin to understand the various ways different people process death. Calling it an episode, or a watch-worthy conversation seems superficial to the actual talk. Shared here are pieces of our combined humanity. See if you want to be with this for a while. May all gain peace from this fragile attempt to accept impermanence. For the video, please check www.youtube.com/c/thevaluesworkshop

They've done it again. In our 57th episode of Shrinking Trump, clinical psychologists Dr. John Gartner and Dr. Harry Siegel unpack everything you thought you knew about Trump—and then some. It's been a whirlwind week, with the former president scoring courtroom wins that feel as hollow as they are dangerous, and our hosts cut straight to the heart of it: malignant narcissism, judicial manipulation, and a man unraveling before our eyes. Be sure to subscribe wherever you get your podcasts: Our site Subscribe on iTunes Subscribe on Spotify Subscribe on Amazon Music Subscribe on iHeartRadio Gartner and Siegel trace the arc of Trump's authoritarian playbook, showing how stacking the courts with political loyalists has transformed judges from impartial referees into enablers of executive overreach. They dissect rulings that seem engineered to free him from ordinary checks and balances—decisions that leave you wondering if the next “emergency” declaration could come with a presidential rubber stamp in hand. But it isn't just the law that's breaking down. Our hosts turn an unflinching eye to Trump's own mind and body, charting the telltale signs of cognitive and physical decline he can no longer hide. From his slurred syntax to that trademark right-leg bounce, every slip and stumble becomes evidence in their case: this is a leader whose capacity to govern is collapsing under the weight of his own frailties. Even the policies he champions bear the scars of his deranged worldview. Take his latest budget blueprint—an assault on Medicaid and social safety nets that will strip healthcare from millions, especially in the rural heartland that once cheered him on. Siegel doesn't mince words: calling it “immoral” barely covers the human devastation it promises. These are cuts that won't stay on paper—they'll show up in empty medicine cabinets and closed clinic doors. Throughout the conversation, one theme reigns supreme: the relentless power of Trump's lies. Gartner reminds us that every falsehood isn't just self-aggrandizement, it's a deliberate strategy to corrode trust in our institutions. The more he distorts reality, the easier it is for him to redraw the rules—and for us to forget what democracy even looks like. This isn't armchair analysis; it's a call to arms for your mind. Awareness is our first line of defense and Shrinking Trump hands you the psychological lens to see his tactics for what they are—and the political roadmap to resist. Listen now on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, or at our website. And subscribe—because the fight for truth doesn't stop when the podcast ends. Learn more about your ad choices. Could the wrong man be on trial for the Delphi murders? In this episode, Tony Brueski and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott dive into the controversial interrogation techniques, unreliable police procedures, and the looming question of whether the evidence against Richard Allen really holds up. Despite years of investigation, the prosecution's case feels thin, especially given the infamous use of the Reid Technique, a tactic known for coercing false confessions. As Scott points out, the lack of standardized law enforcement training adds another layer of uncertainty. And what about the suspects who may have slipped through the cracks? Cervical mucus/fluid is the sign of the main event! It is the gatekeeper of your fertility as well. It is through changes in cervical fluid that your fertility opens and closes in a 5-7 day window around the main event of ovulation. The cervical fluid that tells us that ovulation is approaching has very specific properties. Cervical fluid is a hydrogel, or in other words it is mostly water, 90 to 95% water to be more precise. It contains mucin, glycoproteins, and nutrients that help sperm survive and thrive. As our hormones change, our cervical mucus changes, when the estrogen rises during ovulation our fluid becomes more watery, like raw egg whites and it becomes clear and stretchy, and very slippery. This should be an obvious sign of our bodies that we can observe when wiping front to back in the restroom daily. You can start paying attention every day when doing your regular routine by noting the sensation that you feel when you wipe front to back; was it dry, or smooth, or was it slippery? Look at the tissue next and observe whether you see mucus on the tissue; what does it look like? If you pick it up off the tissue, does it stretch more than an inch? Is it clear or cloudy? These are simple ways to be observant of the changes in your cervical fluid through the menstrual cycle. You can learn to chart these symptoms daily as well in your menstrual tracking chart! Again, the cervical fluid is a biological valve that turns on our fertility, and turns off our fertility. It opens and closes based on the hormonal messages that our cervix is receiving through the body. Estrogen in high amounts creates an increase in cervical fluid. Progesterone dries cervical fluid, therefore after ovulation most women are dry, or have very little vaginal discharge. These are just the very basics about cervical mucus, and we are teaching you today this information for the educational purpose of cycle and body awareness. If you are looking to use cervical fluid as a way to determine fertility for the purpose of either avoiding or achieving pregnancy, than you really want to learn to chart your cycles by a trained professional and scientifically validated method of charting. You can learn about different methods of charting from FACTS. https://www.factsaboutfertility.org/ or this site for FABMS; https://fabmbase.org/ or Managing Your Fertility; https://www.managingyourfertility.com/ If you want to look at beautiful pictures of cervical mucus ferning, check out this article which references the work of Dr. Pilar Vigil and the MIT researcher Dr. Katharina Ribbeck; https://www.sciencefriday.com/articles/cervical-mucus-health/ Also, thank you to this months sponsor! A journalist takes us through the significance of Starship's test flight and Hubble's senior project scientist shares new observations of cosmic phenomena.
"There's always a million reasons not to do something." --- Jan Levenson, The OfficeThat statement couldn't ring more true with podcasting. Because on the surface, it looks like doing a podcast is this overwhelming task with so many moving pieces, pushing it downstream and "worrying about it next week" or "next quarter" seems like the better way to fly.But guess what? Next quarter will present Next Quarter Problems, thus pushing the benefits of bringing a podcast into your marketing strategy downstream again. In all aspects of life, there's always going to be OTHER factors that prevent you from doing something you really want to do. But with podcasting, you're doing much more than just STARTING and DOING a podcast. You're opening up a new channel of communication and content creation that could literally change the face and direction of your brand. In this installment of Podcast Theory, I'm sharing my reasons why RIGHT NOW is the best time to start your brand podcast (or, at the very least, the planning phases).Join me as I talk about:- Why putting off the start of your podcast production does more harm than good- How to evaluate time when it comes to the structure of your podcast- How to overcome the belief that podcast production is this overwhelming feat you can never accomplish- Why business leaders need to look at podcasting as an engine that churns out much-needed content versus something that requires thousands of downloads to be considered a success____________________________________On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I go live on the Bombtrack Media YouTube channel and Facebook Page, as well as my personal LinkedIn page, for new episodes of Podcast Theory featuring tips, strategies, and commentary focused on the world of podcasting.Connect to your platform of your choice at bombtrackmedia.com/liveDiscover how to make podcasting a key part of your marketing strategy, effectively use it to grow your brand, and get your podcast WAY BEYOND three episodes in my exclusive video series. Have you ever found yourself in a position where you question whether you should publish an episode of your podcast because it doesn't meet your standards? If you haven't yet, chances are it's something you'll encounter at some point in your podcasting plight. In Part 5 of my "5 Things Your Podcast Doesn't Need" series, I'm diving deep into one of the most critical items you need to consider with your production: compromising your standards at the expense of your audience. In podcasting, the unofficial golden rule is you always consider the listener's experience above all else. If you feature a guest who goes into business for themselves and does nothing but sell - to the point your listener may wonder if this content is for them - you may want to consider other options instead of exposing your listeners to something that will sour them on your show. You want to ensure you bring value to your listeners at all times. And if that means 86'ing an episode because it doesn't meet your standards, so be it.____________________________________On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I go live on the Bombtrack Media YouTube channel and Facebook Page, as well as my personal LinkedIn page, for new episodes of Podcast Theory featuring tips, strategies, and commentary focused on the world of podcasting.Connect to your platform of your choice at bombtrackmedia.com/liveDiscover how to make podcasting a key part of your marketing strategy, effectively use it to grow your brand, and get your podcast WAY BEYOND three episodes in my exclusive video series. The "5 Things Your Podcast Doesn't Need" series rolls on and today, in Part 4, we are taking a slight detour away from the attention spans of your listeners and focusing on an item that many podcasts feature, but don't necessarily need.As podcasting has evolved, many things have changed and become available to this medium. One of them is the ease in which we can access podcast content on our devices.Back in the day, the term "PODcast" was literal because you uploaded "internet radio episodes" to your iPod and consumed at will. This was a newfangled thing (as was downloading music onto a portable rectangle), and many shows featured the word "podcast" so people knew what they were accessing.Today, the question needs to be asked: Does the word "podcast" still need to be used?I'm exploring this and more in today's episode. Enjoy!RESOURCE MENTIONED: Hello My Name Is Awesome - brand name guide written by Alexandra Watkins | Pick up your copy today ____________________________________On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I go live on the Bombtrack Media YouTube channel and Facebook Page, as well as my personal LinkedIn page, for new episodes of Podcast Theory featuring tips, strategies, and commentary focused on the world of podcasting.Connect to your platform of your choice at bombtrackmedia.com/liveDiscover how to make podcasting a key part of your marketing strategy, effectively use it to grow your brand, and get your podcast WAY BEYOND three episodes in my exclusive video series. In Part 1 of this 5-part series, I shared some scary numbers regarding the attention span of adults in 2024 and why this is important for podcast creators to consider when laying out their content.I'm building upon those points in Part 2 today as I share another item your podcast episodes don't need and, ultimately, diminishes your listener's experience if you do it too much. This particular item can:- Put more work on your plate- Take more time than it's worth- Make things awkward for your guest- Accomplish more if the guest does it themselves____________________________________On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I go live on the Bombtrack Media YouTube channel and Facebook Page, as well as my personal LinkedIn page, for new episodes of Podcast Theory featuring tips, strategies, and commentary focused on the world of podcasting.Connect to your platform of your choice at bombtrackmedia.com/liveDiscover how to make podcasting a key part of your marketing strategy, effectively use it to grow your brand, and get your podcast WAY BEYOND three episodes in my exclusive video series. Why is the ocean full of moon jellies? How do snails use fishing nets made of slime? What's actually happening when a mosquito sucks your blood? These are just some of the questions that the producers and scientists behind “Deep Look,” KQED's Emmy-award winning video series, take on. Now in its 11th season, “Deep Look,” uses ultra-high definition video to give viewers an up close – and sometimes microscopic look – at the insects, animals and plants that we can find around us. We'll talk to the team behind the show, and hear from you: what's something in the natural world that you've given a deeper look, and how did that make you feel? Guests: Damon Tighe, biotech educator and naturalist Sarah Cohen, professor of biology, San Francisco State's Estuary & Ocean Science Center Gabriela Quirós, supervising producer for Deep Look, KQED Josh Cassidy, lead producer and cinematographer for Deep Look, KQED
