Our friend Toby Chappell returns to the show to discuss his new book, Infernal Geometry and the Left-Hand Path. The formation of the Law of the Trapezoid and the early days of the Church of Satan. The significance of H.P. Lovecraft. Toby is an author and lecturer presently living in Atlanta, GA. His interests include 'weird tales' (H.P. Lovecraft, et al.), semiotics, the Left Hand Path from a Setian perspective, and the runes and other aspects of the Northern Tradition. His latest book is Infernal Geometry and the Left-Hand Path: The Magical System of the Nine Angles (Inner Traditions, 2019). Infernal Geometry... discusses the history and development of the unique practice called angular magic in the early Church of Satan and the Temple of Set. Angular magic takes the "strange angles" of H. P. Lovecraft's fiction, the number mysticism of Pythagoras, the photograph composition theories of William Mortensen, and Anton LaVey's Law of the Trapezoid, and combines them into a coherent system of magical theory and practice. Many in shamanic practice seek to deepen their relationship with their own ancestral lines and, in this, to reconnect with the shamanic roots in their own bloodline. Contemporary people seek an authentic practice in a time of broken lineages, appropriation, and deep histories of abuse, dominance and pain. Shaman teacher/healer, speaker, artist and author, Evelyn Rysdyk, joins host, Christina Pratt, to share her new book, The Norse Shaman: Ancient Spiritual Practices of the Northern Tradition and the vision it offers us in our own time. While we face a life-ending Ragnorok of our own creation in climate change and ecological destruction, we can choose to learn from our ancient ancestors to sacrifice what must die, to transform ourselves, and to work together with the Earth, each other and spirit to “bring forth a verdant new world”.

Internationally recognized shamanic healer and teacher Evelyn C. Rysdyk reveals the wisdom of female shamans throughout history, reflecting upon her new book The Norse Shaman: Ancient Spiritual Practices of the Northern Tradition.  At the northern fringes of Europe, Christianity did not displace the original Shamanic practices until the end of the Viking age, resulting in myths, folk traditions and written records surviving, conveying the European shaman's world of long ago. Evelyn's exploration is not strictly historical.  She provides step-by-step instructions on how to recreate ancient ceremonies for those being led to fulfill their shamanic callings, a gateway to personal healing and a wondrous harmonious relationship with the Earth.  A founding member of the Society for Shamanic Practitioners and a presenter for international events such as the Shamanism Summit and the Year of Ceremony, Evelyn is also the author of Spirit Walking: A Course in Shamanic Power, Modern Shamanic Living and A Spirit Walker's Guide to Shamanic Tools.  Evelyn delights in supporting people to remember their sacred place in All That Is. Whether through face-to-face contact with individual patients, workshop groups and conference participants, or through the printed word--Evelyn uses her loving humor and passion to open people's hearts and inspire them to live more joyful, fulfilling and purposeful lives.
