I wondered where all the good, noble, and just people were, and why we were venerating unscrupulous scoundrels instead. The Tanakh is littered with unsavory characters whose criminal deeds and lack of character left me asking, "Is this the best we can do? Especially for this religion that is not even from my culture? Why are we only championing terribly flawed and ruthless men?Undeterred, and unaccepting of the notion of "the human condition," I never lost my own personal faith in mankind. There had to be a noble, family oriented, just, and fair people somewhere. I got tipped off by another reader of history, and I was determined to find out if untainted roots of man were to be found in this group of people. What I found revitalized me. My quest had led to the Goths, and their history, our history, our heritage, has been deliberately stolen, co-opted, inverted, slandered, and often completely erased from the record. What I didn't find in those dark grimoires they pass off as religion I found in the histories of the Men from the North, the bringers of culture, civilization, and innovation. These were the creators of a Noble culture. And they battled many of the dark forces that have since regained a stranglehold over Man through their tactics of moral erosion, artificial social constructs, and cunning treachery. These are the culture destroyers. They were a despicable death cult then, and they're a despicable death cult now.LOAD UP for Christmas:https://SemperFryLLC.com to get Priestcraft: Beyond Babylon, AWESOME Hot Sauce and Creatine-HCL. From imprisonment of Loki's children to the death of the god Baldr, tensions escalate, setting the stage for the ultimate clash between gods, giants, and just about every epic baddie in Norse Mythology. We'll look at Fimbulwinter, the crowing of roosters, and the earth-shaking re-emergence of Fenrir, the Midgard Serpent, and Hel. On this week's episode we're discussing the ancient origins which inform our collective cultural superstition of Friday the 13th. We talk about some of the bad things which have happened, if an unlucky day can be measured statistically and the mysteriously connected stories from both Norse mythology and The Bible which strongly inform our belief in Friday the 13ths dreaded unluckiness. We also begin to tell the tale of how Friday the 13th has strong roots in the history of The Knights Templar and address a huge piece of the puzzle that I've never heard outside of my own research. In the extended version of the episode we continue with the history of the Knights Templar and dive right into what exactly made them such an unprecedented force on the world stage. We talk about what made them exceptional among other knights and members of the Church before finally digging into the shocking details of the heresies and secret initiatory rituals which were accused of the Templars during their spectacular downfall. In the end we discuss their continued legacy, how it relates to Friday the 13th and take a rare deep dive on the esoteric truths contained in the symbol of The Baphomet. Check out my YT : https://youtu.be/b1ZARgjs0x0 Loki, in Norse mythology, is a cunning trickster who had the ability to change his shape and sex. Although his father is the giant Fárbauti, he is included among the Aesir (a tribe of gods). Loki is represented as the companion of the great gods Odin and Thor, helping them with his clever plans but sometimes causing embarrassment and difficulty for them and himself. He also appeared as the enemy of the gods, entering their banquet uninvited and demanding their drink. He was depicted as a fly, a mare, and possibly an elderly woman. Most notably, he caused the death of the god Baldr. Loki was bound to a rock (by the entrails of one or more of his sons, according to some sources) as punishment, thus in many ways resembling the Greek figures Prometheus and Tantalus. Also like Prometheus, Loki is considered a god of fire. Loki's relations with the gods end with his role in engineering the death of the beautiful and generally beloved god Baldr. After orchestrating Baldr's death, Loki was chased by the gods and bound to a rock with the entrails of one of his sons. A venomous serpent was placed above his face. The dripping venom that Loki's faithful wife Sigyn collected in a bowl, but when the bowl became full, she left to pour out the venom. Then the snake's venom dripped onto Loki's face, making him writhe in pain, which caused earthquakes. According to the Prose Edda, Loki will break free from his chains during Ragnarök, the end of the world as prophesied in Norse mythology. He will then join forces with the giants and wage war against the gods. This is a battle in which he and the other major figures of Norse mythology will ultimately perish. #NorseHistory #Loki #ThorsHammer #AncientHistory #HistoryUncovered #loki #mimirswellmeditation #mimirswell #mimirswellpodcast #norsegods #norsemythology #vikinggods #vikings #germanic #scandinavia #heathenry #norsepagan --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mimirswell/support

Previously, Loki took it upon himself to orchestrate the murder of the gods' golden boy, Baldr. In this episode, Loki's actions finally come back to haunt him as the gods exact their revenge. We'll discuss how this story differs between accounts in the two Eddas, and even dig in to a lesser-known part of the story preserved mainly in Gesta Danorum. And with this story out of the way, the stage has finally been fully set for Ragnarök. Anlaşmalarını her iki kabilenin tüm tanrılarının tükürüğüyle mühürlediler. Step into the ancient fir-tree forests of Scandinavia and bear witness to legends as epic as those of the Greeks and the Romans. Melvin Burgess revolutionised children's literature with the infamous cult novels Junk and Doing It. In his first adult novel, Loki, he breathes new life into Norse myths. Starting with the Norse creation myths, the trickster god Loki takes the listener on a wild ride through Norse mythology, from the time the gods—the founders of Asgard—defeated races of monsters, and hurtling through famous stories, including Odin hanging himself on the World Tree, the theft of the corrupting gold ring and the murder of Baldr, the god of love and the Sun. This narrative may seem familiar enough at first, but the listener should beware. Born within the heart of a fire in the hollow of a tree-trunk, Loki arrives in Asgard as an outsider. He is a trickster, an unreliable narrator, the god of intelligence and politics. In spite of his cleverness and sparkling wit (or, perhaps, because of this...) Loki struggles to find his place among the old patriarchal gods of supernatural power and is constantly at odds with the god of thunder—Thor. This is a retelling that is contemporary in tone, at once amusing and relatable. It is a heartfelt plea to overthrow the old gods of power and authority and instigate a new era ruled by love and intelligence. Alongside the politics of Asgard, it charts the course of Loki's many loves and families, from his mothering of Odin's famous horse to his intense, turbulent, and, eventually, fatal relationship with Baldr the Beautiful—a tender and moving story of love that goes wrong, jealousy and a transitioning that is forbidden by society.

In Norse mythology, the god known as Loki is regarded as a prankster who enjoys playing pranks on his enemies and fellow gods. He is the brother of the god Odin and is often the one who digs the other gods out of their deepest holes. His name has negative connotations due to his actions and deceitful nature, such as his involvement in the death of the god Baldr and causing the Ragnarok or Doomsday.Despite having no cult attached to him, he is regarded as one of the most prominent gods in Norse mythology. He is also one of the three gods who headlines multiple myths alongside Odin and Thor. He is also regarded as the enemy of the gods, as he entered their banquet uninvited and demanded their drink. Loki was bound to a rock (by the entrails of one or more of his sons, according to some sources) as punishment, thus in many ways resembling the Greek figures Prometheus and Tantalus. Also like Prometheus, Loki is considered a god of fire.Loki may be depicted on the Snaptun Stone, the Kirkby Stephen Stone, and the Gosforth Cross. Scholars have debated Loki's origins and role in Norse mythology, which some have described as that of a trickster god.Read more at https://mythlok.com/loki/

Unlike the Greek pantheon, we don't quite know how long people have been worshipping Norse Deities, but we think their worship dates back 2500 years. Of the few sources we have, there are many gods, goddesses, Jotun, and others who were considered deities by the Norse. In this episode, we discuss the creation mythos of the Norse pantheon. Like many others, it describes a black void that eventually sparks to life. What happens next—a cow using a block of ice as a salt lick, a giant who becomes the world as we know it isn't quite as run of the mill. We go over the main gods and goddesses that are worshipped from this pantheon. Some are Aesir, some are Vanir, and some fall somewhere in between or even completely outside of the Aesir and Vanir. We will discuss the magical correspondences of Odin, Frigg, Bragi, Idunn, Baldr, Mimir, Thor, Sif, Tyr, Njörd, Freyja, Freyr, Loki, Sif, Heimdall, and Hel in this episode.

We're in for a real treat today! Ana Melara from Grace Dog Training and Behavior joins us today with some amazing nuggets that will help us take a step back, evaluate where we and our dogs are at in training, how to get the most out of the training and how we can create an even better relationship with our dogs. About Ana Melara, CPDT-KA: Ana Melara has been working with dogs and their families for over two decades, originally in N.Y.C. and since 2001 here in Colorado. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and member of the (APDT) Association of Professional Dog Trainers and a member of (IAABC) International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. She is TAGteach Advanced Certified. (This means that she’s also very good at teaching people.) She keeps herself current by attending and hosting various workshops, seminars and conferences. Her training techniques are founded on praise-based, dog-friendly and people-friendly methods, and a fundamental belief that, as dog guardians, we are responsible for their well-being and training. Whether she is teaching basic manners, puppy house-training or addressing a dog’s aggression issues, Ana emphasizes to all of her human clients the profound importance that their gentle guidance and loving leadership plays in their dog’s training. Ana lives in Lakewood with her daughter and her three amazing dogs. Chaka, her 6 year old, brilliant, silly, crazy-pants trick dog; Tatonka, her sweet 12-ish year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who has gone from nervous, bitey and growly to happily and waggly; and her youngest infant son, Baldr, a sweet, baby Malinois/GSD X who has appointed himself as the family therapist while dragging around his queen-sized woobie. 1978 – Betamax vs. VHS is in full swing. Pa places his chips on the former. This is promptly verified as unwise. Early 1980s – Flux and financial disarray. As his company transitions to VHS, Pa is fiscally compelled to relocate to a lesser domicile. Late 1980s/Early 1990s – Yours truly secures a senior position at KetMax Tapes through sheer dedication and donkeywork and if you think nepotism constituted any slice of that pie, you don’t know nothing about nothing. 2002 – Pa expires. I ascend. 2003/2004 – The market suggests VHS is on the brink of obsolescence. I shirk these bodements and double-down on analogue. I am man enough to own the fallout, but I ascribe at least 80% of the responsibility to cocaine. 2005 – KetMax Tapes is dissolved. I “go on the dole” – ugly in language and deed. 2009 – The nadir. Sloshed on rum and lemonade and craving an Egg McMuffin, I crash my car into what I later determine to be a sign for a bird sanctuary. More than a sign, I surmise it is a SIGN. I heed the universe and insist on procuring the first feathered creature to cross my eyeline. It is a raven. I name him Bassett, for my father’s fondness for liquorice. 2010s/2020 – As promises materialise and evaporate, as dreams dither ‘tween improbable and unlikely, as vulgar women come and go, Bassett is a consoling invariable. This is mediated by his being an emblem of death, the knowledge that I am, in his spine-chilling eyes, merely carrion in a temporarily sub-optimal state of breathing and the impossibility of trust therefore. As I negotiate loving and loathing this creature, he comes to embody the complexity of being. I have provided historical context. So please read the following whilst performing mental keep-ups with the football that is Bassett’s importance in my life. We remain in quarantine at the Hope High Castle. Mr. Angelou is a co-habitant, an elderly Greek gentleman who has succumbed to diabetic blindness. He cracks on with the assistance of Baldr, his Golden Retriever guide dog. Two nights ago, I was slaving over some prose, Bassett’s cage alongside the work space. It was midnight. Reasonably expecting solitude, I released the bird from his enclosure (flirts with peril rev my creative motor plus he needed the exercise). How was I to know that the witless (but very brave) Mr. Angelou had elected to take a dusky constitutional with his hound? Moreover, that he would violate the perimeters of my cloistered foundry by extending an invitation? I am not an oracle. So Bassett pecked out Baldr’s left eye. Look, I’ve been struggling. And I admit to a certain laxness in the acquisition of ample nourishment for my winged complement. I’ve inured him to a debaucherous diet. He’s accustomed to mice. As luck would have it, Mrs. Absolam is a retired vet. So Baldr is hale and sturdy, if less chipper. It’s fair to say I’m in the doghouse (somewhat ironically). Marje is giving me the cold shoulder. Bart fucking Joyles is lapping it up. Mrs. Absolam is refusing to make eye contact with me, as is Mr. Angelou, though it’s unclear whether that’s disgust or the cataracts. They want Bassett gone. I’ll leave it to your discretion whether that’s fair or an egregious overreaction to ONE sour episode. The dog’s fine, for God’s sake. But yes, the time may soon come when I am forced to personify the George to Bassett’s Lennie. If that day comes, this particular Kettle will be a Kettle whose steam hath depleted. Whose whistling hath ceased. “A guy needs somebody-to be near him. A guy goes nuts if he ain't got nobody. Don't make no difference who the guy is, long's he's with you. I tell ya, I tell ya a guy gets too lonely an' he gets sick.” - John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men

Episode 145: Away with the Faeries - Girls versus Supernatural Queens The dragons have discussed faery abductions in folklore, song and fiction before, of course, but there is one theme that bears closer examination. Tam Lynn retellings are rife in speculative fiction often in cases where the authors haven't consciously drawn on the folk tale. The story of someone going either into the underworld or into Faerie traces its roots back through nine hundred years of folklore and back into Norse, Celtic and Greek myth. This week Jules and Madeleine look at why this is such an enduring story. Sworn brother of Odin and often the one to dig the other gods out of inconveniently deep holes, Loki’s name nonetheless has many negative connotations due to his deceitful nature and especially the hand he had in the death of the god Baldr, thus setting in motion the coming of the Ragnarök (the ‘final destiny of the gods’ in which the world is destroyed). With no cult attached to him and no clear function in Viking Age belief, yet being one of only three gods who headlines in more than one myth (the other two being Odin and Thor), Loki takes up a unique spot in the Norse pantheon.

An explanation of the Norse myth of Ragnarok. The origin of this saga was that Baldr the Good had a series of ominous dreams; he saw his life threatened. When he told the Aesir about his dreams, they took council and decided to seek a truce for Baldr, protecting him from all dangers. Frigg took oaths that Baldr would not be harmed by fire and water, iron and all kinds of metal, stones, the earth, trees, diseases, animals, birds, poisons, and snakes. When this was done and became known, Baldr and the Aesir took to amusing themselves by having Baldr stand in front of all the others at the assembly while some would shoot at him, some would strike blows, and some would hit him with stones. Whatever was done caused him no injury, and all thought this remarkable. But when Loki, son of Laufey, saw this, it angered him that Baldr was uninjured. After changing himself into the likeness of a woman, he went to Frigg at Fensalir. Frigg asked this woman if she knew what the Aesir were doing at the assembly. The woman replied that everyone was shooting at Baldr, yet he suffered no injury. Then Frigg said, “Neither weapons nor wood will harm Baldr. I have received oaths from all of them.” Then the woman asked, “Have all things given their oath not to harm Baldr?” Frigg answered, “A shoot of wood grows to the west of Valhalla. It is called mistletoe, and it seemed too young for me to demand its oath.” Immediately afterwards, the woman disappeared. Loki got hold of the mistletoe. He broke it off and went to the assembly. Hodr, because he was blind, stood at the edge of the circle of people. Loki spoke to him, asking: “Why aren’t you shooting at Baldr?” Hodr replied, “Because I can’t see where Baldr is, and also I have no weapon.” Then Loki said, “You should be behaving like the others, honoring Baldr as they do. I will direct you to where he is standing. Shoot this twig at him.” Hodr took the mistletoe and, following Loki’s directions, shot at Baldr. The shot went right through Baldr, who fell to the ground dead. This misfortune was the worst that had been worked against the Gods and men. Baldr’s death left the Gods speechless and so weak that they were unable to muster the strength to lift him up in their arms. They all looked at one another, and all were of a single mind against the one who had done the killing. But no one could take vengeance because the place was deeply revered as a sanctuary. When the Aesir first tried to speak, all they could do was weep, and no one could form words to tell the others of his grief. Odin suffered the most from this misfortune. This was because he understood most clearly how grievous was the loss, and that the death of Baldr was ruin for the Aesir.
